Next week will be my first track weekend with a same same but different bike. For context, I've been riding a 2021 s1000rr with ABS for the last couple years into mid pace intermediate group. It's the only bike I've ever ridden on track so this platform is all I know.

A few months ago an idiot on the road side swiped me totaling that bike. This situation led me to the decision to go full race bike and just avoid the streets all together. With that in mind, my new bike is a 2023 s1000rr but a highly modified alpha racing build for the track including no ABS.

I've always heard that most intermediate and up riders prefer to ride on the track without ABS. I'm curious what differences I should expect riding a familiar platform but without ABS? I'm figuring it'll feel similar but better in the dry but I'm worried about the wet.

I'm still day dreaming about all the fun was had Laguna Seca hosted by Aprilia Racers Days who was partnered with Champ School for this day and the remaining events on the calendar. (Link in bio) 😁.

This being ran in the typical trackday format with groups, at times it can be difficult to get open track to really put in a clean lap with no traffic and minimal mistakes, emphasizing on the mistakes! After the whole day I still put in a personal best of a 1:39.56. I feel like there was more on the table. I'll take it regardless. Seeing improvements from the last time I was here is nice to see. I know I have a lot more to work on. Onwards! (Also, I know my solo 2 start/finish is off)

Clearance is tight like 5mm measured by shoving my calipers in there and measuring the bottom of it

Warmers just fit but you can feel it shove through there.. over inflated it to 33psi cold to simulate any heat expansion (should be 28 hot) ran it up to 90-100 mph on a stand and its not touched the stickers in the middle at all, that okay to go?

I would drop the front sprocket next change or add a couple links if i stick with it..

Track day #3. Not sure if I’m improving, but at least I’m having a blast!

Just getting back into track days this year after a long time off. Bought a well setup R6 earlier in the season, things just a f’ing rocket. It’s too fast for my old slow a**. And man these RS660 are so damn sexy and sounds so good. Plus it would allow me to ride some canyons again. I also have a setup Ninja 400 as my main track bike. Anyone made the same move? I just don’t want to regret selling the R6.

Very very amateur at building things out of wood. About to move 1600 miles away and got a quote for $1400 to ship the bike. I decided I could build something to provide better weight distribution for the haul on my short bed Tacoma (should’ve bought the long bed) and get a solid wheel chock for storage and track use. This doubles as a track setup to hold toolbox, ramps, and fuel tank as well. Between wood, the baxley chock, canyon dancers, and some brackets and straps, I’m about $500 in (chock by far the most expensive piece).

Hi everyone! After my first crash this year and my fairings being destroyed I've decided to get some armor bodies. I just have a question about heat shields and the foam dampers. Do you still use both or just the heat shield. I can't find the foam in strips to cut as needed. Just in oem form and I'm not sure if its worth it. So I figured I'd ask here.

Parking lot mini-practice isn't the solution to every riding barrier, but it can be helpful for some things. This rider took about three minutes to get his knee down for the first time. Usually, riders who do this are able to get their knee down on the track immediately afterward. For many, it's simply a matter of breaking the ice, feeling what it's like, and then going right to it.

Dragging a knee isn't evidence of riding skill, but it does have its uses. For one, it gives the rider a reference for how far they're leaned over and allows them to feel changes in lean angle while cornering.

Occasionally, I'll meet with a rider in SoCal and help them with this. There's also someone in the SoCal area who specializes in this type of training. DM me if you'd like a referral.

After doing some racing and looking at my data, one of the biggest problems that is glaring to me is that there are many times where I should be at WOT but only reach 70-80% throttle. Largely due to the fact I have to rotate my wrist so much in order to reach it. After doing a 12 lap race last weekend, my wrist was killing me, and I kept wondering why.

My big weakness right now is not getting my hand fully wrapped around the throttle, and thus using my hands/wrists too much to hold me up instead of getting my upper body lower and relying on my core/back and keeping my hands light.

My first plan is to bump down a group for a track day coming soon, and go slower and just intentionally focus on wrapping my hands around the throttle before I pick it up, instead of having my hand on the throttle. I'm fairly certain this is going to feel super weird and wonky, but I thought i'd ask for those who have the screwdriver grip down and thus likely find it easier to drag elbow due to proper body position, how they have practiced it or got comfortable doing it.

Looking to help shave a solid .2-.3 seconds or more off my lap time by getting to WOT sooner.

I have alot of bad habits from street riding for so long I’m struggling to break them. This is my first season riding track and doing track days in novice. I’ve heard multiple times from CR’s that I ride at a good pace but I need to work on my body positioning and not riding neutral.
How do I work on the fundamentals of moving around on the bike without starting to make more mistakes? I struggle with the multi tasking of linking everything I need to do together
Is there anything I can do at home to help?

Hey guys . I’m a month post op from Acl reconstruction of my left knee and it’s a doozy of a recovery . It was due to an accident on the street where I got rear ended by an 18 wheeler .

I was making great progress at the track but I was told 9-12 months back to return to sport . I’m gonna follow that because I don’t ever wanna go through this again and winter is coming anyway .

My question is , is there anyone out there who recovered from knee surgery and went back to frequent track days ?
If so how do you feel ?

This recovery has been tough and I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel , but if I can get back to the track next year I’ll feel myself / normal again .

Just for some context I’ve been riding since December last year and had my first bike track day back in July. I’ve been doing car trackdays for years but I’m new to bike trackdays. I had my 2nd bike track day a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately ended it badly with a low side about 5 laps into the last session….I figured I’d get back on the horse as quick as I could and booked another one for a couple of weeks later, which was today. Although I felt I was going quite well today, I feel like I’ve lost a lot of confidence especially when turning in and carrying corner speed. Im pretty sure my low side was due to being too abrupt on the controls and/or rushing the direction change at the corner I crashed at, not to mention probably fatigue in the later sessions. One thing the crash has definitely taught me is to cut the session short when I start to feel tired…but today I felt pretty drained just mentally. Does anyone have any tips on how to move past this feeling?

Was riding around and picked up a nail on a ~1200mile in Corsa IV. I have 2 track days coming up in 2 weeks and plan to do about 300 miles in commute and backroads before then. Would you plug or replace? I was planning to replace both front and rear after the track days, but wondering now if I should swap early. I already have both tires in my garage.

Hello guys, I have an opportunity to get a 2007 R6 with 86k KMs, some extras here and there that don't really matter, but also has an akrapovic slip-on plus Y-pipe, and has been recently serviced and everything is written down on the service book too. It sells for 4400€ and I think it's a very good price.

My question is, I was also looking into some ads of 2009 models, those sell for around 6000€. None of these ads are strictly track-specific setups, just guys riding around. I doubt the price difference is worth it, but what do you think?

Is the 2009 worth the extra 1.6k?

I've swapped to a spare wheel today and as expected, brakes feel like garbage.

For folks who swap wheels for rain, what's the fastest way to bed in the new brakes? Do you scrub the rotor? Or do you just apply some progressive braking for the pads to bed in to a new rotor?

Any advice is appreciated.
