Community Event Channel Feedback Thread
READ THE POST GUIDELINES BEFORE POSTING.
Monthly Community Feedback thread.
Feel free to post a screenshot and link to your page for review of your stream. Please also review as many others as you can so that everyone gets some much desired feedback!
**Here's how it works:**
In giving thoughtful detailed advice for other streamers, observe their channel as both a viewer and a fellow streamer. **Once you have posted your reviews to other people** , post a direct reply to this thread (so it's not embedded in other reply strings), **post your channel link, a link to a Clip, and a screenshot of your overlay** and wait for your feedback. **No low effort posts or replies; posts and replies must be at least 250 characters.**
Consider and give comments on aspects such as:
* how your peers brand themselves overall
* overlay layout/webcam placement and sizing
* layout of their info area
* how they handle chat interaction (look at their VOD if they are not live when you review them)
* video quality
* audio quality
* the games they choose
* features they have or perhaps lack that you think would be useful for them anything else you can think of
There are a few caveats. First - this is going to be an honest review of what you are currently offering as your stream. Be honest, be open, and be respectful. It might be negative and it might be positive. Understand you are asking for the truth; flattery might feel nice, but it will not help you grow.
That said, you might have a clear vision for a certain aspect that perhaps someone else does not see - just because what you do doesn't appeal to some, if you like it, then take what they say with a grain of salt. Don't forget your own instincts or lose yourself in the views of others.
Also, we will remove posts of people who are clearly only looking to receive (those who post their channel for feedback but do not offer a real review of another) so please help this community. We are a network!
Based on community feedback, the mod team have decided to hold one of these threads on the second Friday of every month.
REMEMBER: Review OTHER streamers BEFORE asking others to review yours! Users failing to do this will have their comments REMOVED. Sort by 'NEW' to find the un-reviewed comments, there is no harm in reviewing someone's stream if they have been reviewed by someone else, but PLEASE REVIEW UN-REVIEWED STREAMS FIRST. The more feedback the better! We're all here to help each other!

Hey, I started streaming back in March. I've come a long way since my first stream. I switched from a png model to a fully rigged vtuber model that I both draw and rigged myself, upgraded my microphone, added some toggles and emotes, among other things.
Life as be en super busy over the last few months and as such improving and growing as a streamer has kind of been put on pause for a moment. However, now that I have some free time I'm looking to continue improving and growning.
I stream Genshin Impact and I do 1 non gaming stream a week where I work on art, sewing, cosplay, craft fair prep, or any other kinds of creative projects that I am working on.
I would love any kind of feedback that people are willing to give as I'm open to improving any area that needs some work.
I don't have any clips however I started highlighting some moments from stream. Here's one of those highlights - https://m.twitch.tv/videos/2838567133
However I do create, edit, and posts clips for other social media, but I just don't directly clip stuff on twitch.

My phone is being dumb so I can’t watch your craft one. But for your gaming I like how you interact with chat and just in general with the game and yourself. Maybe don’t have chat on screen while you are playing though (I personally think it takes away from it a bit and takes away your “imaginary” chat so when I’m watching the vid I know all the comments, maybe I’m weird though haha) and I seen you had a couple games on your deck which is great.
For you doing your art. I really like that and I’ll definitely try to actually watch it later to view more but from what I could see I really liked it and think that’s a fun little variety thing you do.2

Thanks, I really appreciate it.
For chat being on screen, I multi stream to both youtube and twitch. I noticed that sometimes people get confused when I'm answering chat or acknowledging someone from a different platform. Which is why I have chat on screen so that people from both platform can interact with each other.
However, if there's a better way of combining chat from both platforms then I'm all ears.

Alright, we'll start with the unknowns: no idea how Genshin streams are in general so can't speak to how well your streams appeal to Genshin fans/game choice.
On the technical side, video and audio quality are generally good. As is audio balance, particularly in action and dialog scenes. Your diction is also very good, and it's very easy to understand what you're saying. During exploration portions the game is quite quiet, so much so that it can feel a bit empty or like your mic is the only audio. Don't know if that's just how the game is or you made a deliberate decision to turn down the music specifically.
A few things on the overlay elements though. The chat is readable in fullscreen, but more difficult at half screen, let alone at mobile device sizes. Might need more contrast like a drop shadow or, since you have a permanent motif on the corners and chats stay permanently until bumped off instead of fading on time, you could potentially do a semi-transparent background on the chat area.
From chat it looks like you have way more activity on the youtube side, so the daily follower goal seems somewhat out of place. Especially since I looked at the past two weeks of vods and in that span of time only once was the goal at 1/3 instead of 0/3. Personally not a fan of showing goals on stream that are basically static assets, but others might feel that it existing as engagement/call to action is valuable so YMMV.
On the editing and creation of clips, just based on the ones on your starting soon screen the style of subtitling makes them feel like the clip is lagging. I suspect that you're starting the word pop-in animation as it's being said, but what that looks like in the final product is that by the time the word is fully popped in, you're already saying the next one.

Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it.
As for the in game audio. A lot of times the background music can overtake dialogue or cut scenes so I deliberately turn it down However, I just went back and checked my vod from yesterday as the game put in a little musical detail that was a little nod to a connection a character had to a certain place and I had turned up the music all the way up to hear it then turned it back down. So, I defiantly get where you are coming from in terms of the game feeling empty or too quite.
The music is so beautiful and I would want people to hear it when I'm exploring. So, in the future I think I will just turn the background music all the way up when exploring then turn it down when I'm doing quests.
Thank you for being this to my attention.
I will play around with chat as I want people to be able to read it on screen since I'm multi streaming. I can increase the font size so that each chat message would be a bit bigger along with other things to make it a bit easier to read.
As for the follower goal, I can defiantly see where you are coming from + it can only track one platform at a time. Right now it only tracks twitch followers so it feels a bit weird as people who subscribe on youtube don't get counted. When I first started streaming I was only streaming on twitch which is why I had it in the first place.
I'm mostly impartial to having goals on screen when watching other streamers. So long as the goal isn't distracting, there aren't multiple goals like follower, sub, bit, dotation all at the same time, and the streamer isn't constantly calling the goal out or asking for the goal to be met. I really don't care nor mind it being there.
As for the pop in text I'll keep that in mind when editing. I know sometimes I struggle with getting the timing right, but also not having the text pop up then leave the screen too fast as the whole point of having subtitles is for people to be able to read them.

Ah heck yeah a vtuber i can kinda speak a bit here.
I will first say a left aligned position is definitely one of the more rare ones ive seen. Most usually hug the right wall.
Sure it could block genshin abilities, but thats where the other bit i could say.
There is 2 kinds of layouts ive seen. Full screen game or game in a border.
If you wanted to keep visible chat, id say look more into having the game a bit smaller in a border. Can put chat in chatbox
It can get a bit messy depending on what game is behind it if that kinda makes sense.
Or remove chat if you want the full screen game.

hey i checked out your channel since i saw you were still waiting on some feedback in the thread
the webcam placement feels a little off to me, it covers the health bar in your game so maybe just nudging it to the left corner would fix that without messing up your overlay too much. your audio levels are pretty balanced though which is good cause a lot of streams have the game way too loud and you can barely hear the person talking
i watched a bit of your vod from yesterday and i think you could work on reading chat more often, there was like a 5 minute stretch where you were focused on the game and missed a couple messages, maybe a second monitor would help if you dont already have one
the overlay itself is clean but the font in your info panel is a bit hard to read, especially the smaller text at the bottom, maybe bumping up the size a bit would make it easier for people on mobile
overall the stream has a nice chill atmosphere and your commentary is pretty entertaining when you get going, just some small tweaks and youd be in good shape

Hey. I streamed a longgg time ago. I recently got back into and am really enjoying it. I love being an entertainer and would love all the feedback. Especially criticisms because I want to do better.
I can’t add a clip link mainly cause idk how lol. And I have a basic overlay so no point in screenshotting it.
I have my clips on my channel to look at though.
Thank you in advance

Hey, I checked out a few of your vods and I think you have a good start. I really like your starting soon screen. Your volume levels are really good between your voice and the game + the game audio isn't too loud that it drowns you out.
However, your audio could be even better if you added or tweaked the filters on your mic especially when it comes to the clicking of your mouse and keyboard. I personally am not a huge fan of hearing clicking noises that are loud or that you can hear all the time. You can add filters on your mic so that it won't pick up the clicking or make it so that it's not as loud.
Mic filters can also help even out your audio as well by lowering loud sound, but also boost quite sounds as well. I noticed that you tend to mumble a bit which can sometimes be a little hard to hear at times. Also filters make it so that you don't accidentally make your viewers deaf if you decide to scream into your mic.
The only other thing I would suggest is moving your webcam up just a little bit. You have it right at the bottom which makes it look like the webcam is getting cut off a little bit which just makes it feel a bit weird. Even just moving it up an inch or two so that people can see the bottom of the webcam would be good.

I love your starting screen as well, and the consistency of the sketchy motifs and colours! Not quite a objective review as more of a subjective one but I would love for a plain background for you to frame you better. I also agree with Ode, moving the camera up to frame you a little better!

I agree with the visuals, they're fun and you should lean into them a bit more if anything, its a good aesthetic. I will say I can't gleam anything about who you are as a person / streamer from your channel, might be a good idea rewriting the about me section to give some sense of that for people who pull up. Energy was pretty good from what I saw, pretty decent for someone just getting back into it

Awesome. I’ll get on changing my about me. I lowkey forgot about it hahah.

Hey I looked into your twitch. I really like your energy. I was going through at random points and you were always talking which I think is really good for engagement. Like the others said I think moving the camera up would be good move visually, I don’t often see cameras at the bottom corner though so that might just be a personal preference kinda thing. I think audio was really good for Mario and the graphics were really crisp, I’d say for quieter games like Minecraft the microphone was a bit louder just bc of the background noise like keyboard clicking. You seem chill and welcoming, I can see you pulling a bit of chatters, nothing from what I watched immediately made me want to click away. If you like to edit/post on YouTube or TikTok I think it might be worth looking at discoverability.

I actually just took down some of my VODs as I am not content with anything I am putting out but some are on my Youtube here as unlisted.
My Twitch is www.twitch.tv/shawntejmb
When it comes to my settings, I tweak it alot as I can never find a balance, it's either the game is quiet and I am LOUD or the other way around. Besides that, I just feel like I am not entertaining at all to watch? I feel I am off putting and when I let loose a little, and try to share it (clips), it's a very hit or miss response so I just wanna improve where I can!

There's a couple things I wanted to mention before getting into the critique.
First - I have to say that I love your model, it's so good.
Second - It takes time to find your rhythm however the more you stream the more you become comfortable with it. I know that when I first started streaming I was using my "customer service voice" which tends to be more high pitched. However, over time I dropped that and just spoke using my regular voice.
Due to the nature of live streaming, your streams are never going to be perfect. Things will end up happening like tech issues, accidental mic mute, game not working, among other things. Some stuff are just going to be beyond your control and you just have to roll with it. For me I try to lean more into the tech issues like my game was freezing for some reason and I leaned into how annoyed I was, even made jokes about the fact that of course my game would be freezing when I'm exploring a cold winter area.
I suggest writing down everything that you are not content with in regards to your streams then pick one and spend time only fixing or tweaking that thing until your happy with it then move down the list.
Now for the critique.
I noticed that your vtuber's mouth doesn't like to close most of the time and instead stays open. In order to avoid that you just need to play around with your mouth open sliders in vtube studio. I don't know what you like, but personally I like when my vtuber is bouncy or very expressive however I don't want to both focused on moving my face and talking at the same time so I tend to have a lot of my sliders be more on the sensitive side. So when I move a little bit my vtuber moves a lot more. This help my model be more expressive even when I might not be. However, that's no everyone's cup of tea and that's fine.
For volume, I think you would benefit with adding or adjusting your mic filters to boost when you are talking quietly and lower it when you're talking loudly. Evening out the volume can help when trying to balance your mic with the game audio. You can also put filter on your game audio to help even that out as well if you need it. I suggest doing some mic/volume tests before you start your game. You can do this by recording yourself in obs, adjust the in game audio or your mic, then play back the video, then make your adjustments, record yourself again, until you find the perfect spot.
At the end of the day, just try to have fun, perfection will come with time.

Love the usage of color matching throughout.
My one immediate question would be who is the artist. I do see you kinda do art, but for example the channel banner is very nice and id like to see such. As a vtuber also, I know how much art drives the industry. If you made it, brag about it!
I do like the goals visible on the profile, but the partner plus goal could be considered "a bit much" for some.
Social links. Social links. Social links. Unless im on the wrong place, you have one line in your about me of your @.

I've been streaming for a good bit now, but its always good to get feedback :)

Unfortunately, there's not a lot of things that I can comment on.
Your mic sounds nice and crisp. The only thing that I noticed is that the background music or game audio is kind of low. I didn't even realize that there was background music until I put my phone speaker right next to my ear.
Your commentary is good and you're reacting/reading chat.
The only major thing would be your green screen background. I think it's super cool looking, but I noticed that sometimes the green screen likes to over take you a little bit and it goes all wonky.
I don't know anything about green screens or how they work so I don't know if it's an easy fix or not.
Other then that I would say keep up the great work.

u/Cenbianttv 10d ago
Its a plugin for OBS actually that auto removes it, as I have neither the space nor money for a proper green screen. Is a bit artifact heavy yea. But thank you for the feedback!

I’ve streamed gaming for 2–3 years and previously had periods where my TikTok Lives regularly reached 100+ viewers, but I’m currently averaging around 12–13 despite being active again. My TikTok is @lexbeams and my Twitch is @lexbeams. I’m trying to figure out whether the bottleneck is my actual on-stream entertainment/commentary, game selection, branding, discoverability, or short-form content.
Please don’t worry about being nice, I specifically want actionable criticism. If you watch part of a VOD, tell me where you would’ve clicked away and why, and what would prevent you from following if you discovered me randomly.

Guess I'll break the seal then since nobody can "review first" if there's nobody to review. I'll have to do my duty retroactively once things get going. twitch.tv/triyang
Note: I know the audio balance is off on the Edith Finch vod. Turns out the section I used to do audio balance before stream was quieter than most of the game
