TLDR: they told me CalGrant should be coming this week and I guess I’m waiting till next week again before calling 😔

Hello, unfortunately I don’t have any good news. I called them again today because my CalGrant still hasn’t shown up and they told me basically the same thing. After a 10 min hold they confirmed that they do see that I have a CalGrant and I will receive it, but something regarding the CalGrant has been behind schedule. They told me that I should receive it sometime this week, but basically what I’m gathering is that I was told to call them next Monday once again…I reminded them that our tuition is due September 15, and they said that’s plenty of time and we should be fine..

$5 to $15 is insane

My dad is driving his van from Seattle to Dallas and needs some help to do it quickly. I was wondering what actually happens besides the syllabus class on Thurs-Friday. I’m also commuting btw.

i’ve been considering whether or not i should graduate early pretty much since i came to uci. i am technically class of 2028 but i could complete my major and minor by winter quarter if i wanted to. (I took college classes in HS) Staying the full 4 years seems ideal but I never really liked Irvine, (car-dependent, corporate hellscape, mean rich people, but good food tho) but i’ve only made a couple long term friends.

I also want to do grad school, but even if i graduate, say, dec 2027, there’d still be like 6-8 months where id have to be in my hometown before grad school starts, and I would really need to lock in during that time and not become a chud and get too comfy. i also dont feel ready for grad school apps yet, as in, i haven’t made connections here and dont have people who can be references for me. Also, if i graduate early, ill have to find a job in my rural hometown before grad school, rather than my easy campus job. but as time goes on I have started to feel more homesick. I never felt socially accepted here, I just wanted to get my degree, and move on to some other new environment that suits me better (east coast, maybe even overseas)

anyone who is or has graduated early have any advice? esp if you are planning on grad school or are in a non-stem field.

Hi, I'm an incoming freshman and I was wondering what kind of key cards are used for the dorms (idk if there's a difference depending on the hall). I heard that putting a key card in your phone case can result in it not working anymore. Where do people usually keep their key card or what did you find to be the most convenient? (in a badge holder with a lanyard, in a wallet, etc)

Is anyone else unable to accept their financial aid award and getting the message “There have been updates to your financial aid award that are pending review by the financial aid office”???

At first I was chill with it (gimme more aid please 🙏) but it’s been weeks now and I still have the same message. I looked at ZotAccount and ZotAid, and I don’t see any holds on my account or documents I need to complete. I also didn’t get any Cal Grants so I don’t think that’s what holding it up.

I haven’t been able to accept my subsidized or unsubsidized loans and I’m scared I won’t be able to pay before the deadline 😭

I already emailed financial aid and am going to try calling them tomorrow morning. Just wondering if this is happening or has happened to anyone else… :P

Hi everyone, I requested a CalKIDS reimbursement on July 30. The status now says “Cleared” and that the check has been deposited by UCI, However, I still haven’t received the money or seen it credited to my UCI account. It has already been about a month.

Has anyone experienced this? How long does it usually take for UCI to process the reimbursement?

Hello Redeaters! I got an email regarding Organic Chemistry 51P. They said it’s like an intro intro course you take before actual ochem starts if you’re nervous. This is not a summer session course btw. But they said the avg grade in ochem without taking 51P in the summer is 2.5. And with it is 2.9. Doesn’t sound like much of a difference.

Has anyone taken this course and recommend it?

I am currently a student at a CCC planning to TAG into UCI for the Political Science major in Fall 2027, however, I was wondering whether or not there were required courses in order to TAG. When I was looking at the TAG page on UCI's website, it says that all major course prerequisites must be completed by Fall 2026, but when I check on both assist.org and the Transfer Requirements page on UCI's website, they both say that there are no required prerequisites for admission into the Political Science major, besides the GPA requirement of 3.4. I just wanted to know if anyone could clarify whether or not I need to have all of the courses listed on the articulation agreement (via assist.org) in order to be eligible for TAG, since I'm getting different information on different sites.
