My two roommates are in Sproul hall but we connected after the CAR date so I need to swap into their dorm to join them.

I am a graduate student from India pursuing my master's at UCLA, and I am currently in my final year. I learned about the waiver process for UCLA insurance through a group chat. Since UCLA SHIP is relatively expensive, I decided to research whether there were more affordable alternatives with similar coverage.

After considering a few providers, I went with Student Cover Insurance because my roommate had successfully used it to waive the UCLA insurance requirement the previous year. Everything appeared to check out, so I purchased the plan and initiated the waiver process.

The following day, however, I received an email from UCLA's Health Attestation team informing me that my waiver had been rejected because the plan did not meet the required criteria. It was only afterward that I discovered that the company was not licensed to operate in the U.S. and that its plans were not ACA-compliant, yet they were being offered to UCLA students.

Had this information been made clear to me before I purchased the plan and submitted the waiver, I would not have proceeded with it. I am quite concerned about how these plans are being presented to international students and whether students are being adequately informed about these issues.

TL;DR:
I bought Student Cover Insurance based on my roommate's successful waiver the previous year, only to have UCLA reject my waiver the next day. I later discovered licensing and ACA compliance issues, which is concerning. I'm concerned about how these plans are being marketed to international students.

i'm an incoming freshman and i'm in pre-public health. im not taking pubhlt50a my fall quarter since I wasn't able to get a time that aligned with my other classes and i didn't know that they only offered the course in the fall quarter. i'm really stressed about not meeting the pubhlt50a and pubhlt50b pre-req to apply for the public health major in my sophomore year. could anyone offer some advice on what i should do?

I’m entering my 3rd year as a transfer student. Next quarter is my final one, at least on paper.

I previously requested to extend my time to Spring 2027, but I was denied last year. Even though I felt I had substantive reason for applying.

I was wondering if there is anything else I can do, if I can’t extend my time, I may need to drop one of my majors. I will be able to finish one major at the end of this quarter.

For context, I am doing research right now on campus, I fooled around the first year at UCLA, so I didnt end up taking the right classes, dealt with some health problems, and I am a double-major.

I talked with my major advisor, and I was told that I could enroll in my remaining classes for the major I wouldn’t be able to finish through UCLA Extension.

Any advice is appreciated.

I moved to California from another country while I was in high school and have lived and gone to school in California for over four years. I was classified as a California resident for tuition purposes when I was admitted to UCLA. I came to the U.S. on a dependent visa connected to my parent’s employment. This year, my parents decided to move back to our home country, which means my visa is expiring.

My original plan was to switch to an F-1 student visa so I could attend UCLA. However, I found out that it will cause my to lose my residency status. I found an employer willing to sponsor me for another visa that would let me keep my residency status.
But UCLA told me that because I’m considered a dependent student, if my parents leave California, I will lose my California resident classification even if I personally stay in California. So I quit my job. I cannot afford $85,000/year. Is there any exception, waiver, residency provision, financial aid option, or other route I should look into that could allow me to attend UCLA without paying the full nonresident cost? I’m not eligible for AB 540 since I’m on a non immigrant visa.
