Question Anyone else confused about the new opt-out health and dental process?
So I’m a third year and back in first and second year the opt out process was very straightforward and simple. When I checked to opt out today and clicked on the opt out form it took me to a new page that I’ve never seen before. I don’t have an account so when I tried to register and put all my info it said that I entered wrong info so I’m really lost and don’t know what to do. I’ve emailed SCSU but I was wondering if anyone has figured it out or if it worked for anyone without giving them issues.

Advice Doing school while grieving
I lost my older brother this summer. It's difficult for me to go into detail, even anonymously. To anyone who has lost someone and stayed in school were you able to continue? I only put three courses and one of them is online but im still struggling with the idea of going back. I actually wanted to take a semester off but my parents want me to be outside more. Idk. My first year I failed two courses and now im going into my second year. Im just feeling discouraged, like I'll never feel normal again (not that I was doing amazing at my normal).

Courses I'm tired of the weak shi I keep seeing on this sub
"What's the easiest bird course?" The same pathetic questions every semester, again and again. I'm done, I need the hardest courses utsc has to offer.
I already took MATA37 and ended with a 93. I need moreeeee.
The truth is... I want a challenge. I'm not here to enjoy the uni experience. I'm not here to spread the greatness of Utsc. I'm here because I enjoy this. See, to me, there is no greater pleasure than feeling the warmth of the anguish from my fellow classmates during exam season.
Pay attention! To my future classmates... stand ready for my arrival, worms.

Rant It has been about 4 months without ANY meeting minutes published by the SCSU (rant 😂✌️)
TLDR: SCSU’s Board Meeting archive hasn’t had a new posting since April 2026 (nothing for May, June, July, or August). Is it illegal? Uhh idfk. Are they incompetent? YES. Also I wrote this very casually so don’t kill me.
Alright so since April 2026, they’ve basically just stopped. Like they haven’t been posted at all, and as SCSU Members, we aren’t informed of when the Board actually meets and the Board minutes contain info about how the SCSU (about 10 Million dollars) spends its revenue (bistro subsidies, bs, etc.)
There isn’t anything within the SCSU’s bylaws that obligates them to publish them but they’ve been there for a while out of common courtesy, and they’re realistically the only way we can tell since Bylaw 3.9(a) of the SCSU Bylaws state that the Board must meet at least once a month, and there are serious legal penalties under the ONCA for having these meetings but not having minutes for them (s 92 of the ONCA).
How does one get these meeting minutes? You can’t. S 94 of the ONCA does not give members access to board meeting minutes, so you can’t ask for it.
What is an actual violation? Well it’s either the board is meeting but they haven’t actually put out the minutes, it becomes an offence under s 92. If they aren’t (and once again, we don’t actually know if they are since we aren’t informed of these meetings), that just violates Bylaw 3.9(a) and no minutes just happens to be causal.
Did you understand this? Bru I study polisci and I didn’t get it at first because of how ass a lot of the SCSU’s drafting is. What the actual fuck is going on at the SCSU? Like seriously given how expensive Frosh is I had to actually see “who the hell is approving this shit” and surprise—I DONT FUCKING KNOW. HOW HAVE THEY NOT BEEN SUED TO HELL ALREADY GODDAMNN 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Courses How hard is BIOL120H/BIOL130H without any prior biology experience?
To get this out of the way, this is also assuming I obtain a prerequisite waiver lmao.
Other thing, is that I can't take SBI4U or SBI3U because I am in the IB Diploma, and our timetables were fixed since 10th grade, when I didn't even know Biochem existed.
I am not able to do SBI3U + SBI4U over night-school either because of the main reason: juggling IB which is already incredibly time consuming + 2 whole courses on top of that is not feasible. However I have a passion for this stuff, especially chemistry and medicine.
My goal is to enter the Biochemistry major in 2nd year, so i obviously need BIO120H1 + BIO130H1. I've emailed the office and they said when I apply, I will be able to obtain a prerequisite waiver and so-on.
I definitely want to do very well in these courses but I just wasn't sure if it completely relies on prior high-school knowledge, or whether it is essentially a glorified recap (which would allow me to get up to pace in time for newer content!)
Also to note, I have a relatively strong background in chemistry and organic chemistry (as well as physics if that's relevant for problem solving), so I'm not going in with no academic experience whatsoever!
However if it'll be really hard or unlikely to pass, then I can reconsider and do my original path; engineering or finance/econ. I don't want any answers like "you COULD pass but it might be really hard," because that's quite vague.
A brief outline on what the courses cover could be beneficial in knowing what I can definitely catch up on.
I'm definitely able to self study a bit, but it is unlikely that I'll be able to master all of the content due to the sheer amount of content I have outstanding right now for school! But if light self studying is all it takes, that's also completely fine.
Lmk if there's also other things I should know.
