Seattle at 5 p.m., a full day threading the Inside Passage, Ketchikan, Sitka, Tracy Arm Fjord (the glaciers calved like they had a personal beef with the ship), Prince Rupert, one more sea day, back to Seattle. No kids, no formal night, no “that’ll be extra,” just glaciers, Gunbae, and the quiet fear that a tribble made it into the extra-virgin olive oil. Already plotting the ninth.

My husband and I are very interested in doing a Virgin Comedy Cruise in 2027, but I'd love to hear your experiences from those of you who have done them -particularly the 2026 European one. What did you think?

We've done 1 Virgin cruise before (Key West and Bimini) and really liked it, but I am worried that the entertainment will be too same-y to do another Virgin cruise too soon. The comedy cruise seems like a great option, particularly because we love comedy.

Question for the hive - no doubt Miami is the better airport, but I can save $300 and four hours of waiting if i fly out of FLL on disembarkation day. The catch is that the flight leaves at 9:15. The other option is flying out of MIA at 1:30. The money savings and getting home earlier make this option appealing, but only if I actually make my flight! The good news is if I did miss the flight there’s another on at around 1:30 out of FLL, but obviously no guarantees that will be available at that point.

Am I crazy for considering this? We have pre check, probably won’t check a bag, etc.

EDIT: Thanks everyone! I’ll stick with the current flight! Though maybe we’ll switch to FLL since it sounds like that’s the better airport.

On my last cruise there were some issues with boarding etc... VV announced that everyone on that sailing would get $100 bar tab and $200 comp added to your next booking.
A week before this was announced I asked my agent for a quote on another cruise. I liked the price and went ahead and booked. A few days later VV announced the compensation. After a week or so $100 Bar tab was indeed added to my new cruise, but not the $200 discount.
There was no sign of the $200 comp, so I called them, and they said it was applied to my cruise on such and such date. I know this didn't happen because I've been checking my "amount still to pay" and nothing has changed.
Called again they are now insisting that the quote I received from my agent (a week before the comp announcement) already included the comp.

So my question is:

When an agent gets you a quote from VV, does he/she let VV know the name of the passenger?

A LOT of people from that cruise are having issues getting the comp added, but according to VV I got mine BEFORE it was even announced!
Does this sound right?
Of course I will ask my agent about this, but wanted to see if I'm missing something obvious.

Been on a couple different cruise lines in the US and will be trying Virgin Voyages for the first time. Any extra tips or guidance from anyone with experience cruising with Virgin?

For example we’ve learned on NCL as soon as you get on the ship go straight to the location to book dinner reservations because some reservations aren’t available online but are when you board the ship.

Any suggestions or tips like that?

I’m going on the Mexican riviera cruise soon and was wondering if I didn’t choose to book ANY excursions at all, what are some fun things to do off of the boat outside of typical shopping & eating?

I'm curious if Virgin's casino comps are just WAY stingier than other lines, specifically the Royal group of lines. I'm not referring to the guaranteed annual offer at certain levels, but more random offers.

I've heard with Virgin they already aren't very proactive in sending out offers and you should contact them to see if you qualify for anything. I don't care about the casino myself, but my wife loves the slots and I'll join in. On our last cruise, we racked up just under or over 3,500 points. We had 2 other cruises in the current casino year, with much lower play. Probably 600-800 points each. I reached out to the casino, which gave me a request form to fill out before being told I wasn't eligible.

On the other hand, I have 700 total points for the current year with Royal. Last year I think I had around 400-500 points. They accrue at the same rate for slots. I am constantly bombarded with casino offers ranging from free interior cabins on old ships to free ocean views on Oasis class ships. I even had an offer for a free cabin for two on a 3 week trans-pacific cruise.

We largely switched from Royal to Virgin because we prefer the food and vibe, and at the time Royal's pricing had gotten insane and Virgin's was reasonable. Not that the casino considers it, but we also have sailed entirely (4 times) as MRS. We are dumping a ton of money into these cruises, and my wife is dumping money down the slots on top of it. I can justify that in the past with she's having fun and we'll get casino offers out of it. But the tightness of offers from Virgin is driving me back to considering Royal or Celebrity, or someone else entirely. Not to mention as I look up future cruises, Virgin now seems to have priced itself not just above Royal, but well above Royal, Celebrity, even Explora and SilverSea in some cases when you consider RS or MRS. I know our casino points aren't high in the grand scheme of things, but considering they are significantly higher than Royal, who is constantly sending offers, and the amount we spend on MRS (not that it is considered), I'm a little annoyed we can't even get an offer for an interior cabin.

Am I crazy in thinking Virgin is this stingy with their casino offers? Has anyone else had luck waiting for offers to come via email? With the lack of offers relative to Royal and the amount of money being sunk on these cruises, I'm at the point of telling my wife we can either do Virgin but not touch the casino, go back to the Royal group and keep rolling in the offers, or just try someone entirely new like Explora.

So in our current political climate and trade war between Canada and the US my girlfriend is worried about the general attitude towards Canadians out of Miami port. I tried telling her everyone is on vacation no one is going to bring up political stuff. Am I right in reassuring her everything is going to be ok? No nastiness from Americans towards your northern neighbours 😇 🇨🇦 Any other Canadians do sailings out of the US recently? How was your experience?

I know I’m probably beating a dead horse but let me preface this by saying: I think the staff on Virgin Voyages are incredible. I would rate our first and only sailing a 10/10, they did a phenomenal job and they should be paid above and beyond a living wage as far as I’m concerned.

That being said - I fucking hate that the customers have to subsidize their wages to the tune of $500-800 CAD per sailing now. Why is that coming from the customers and not Virgin? And offering us the incentive to prepay in order to save $2/day as if we’re getting a deal on paying employee wages? Oof.

This is an argument against tipping culture more broadly but if you can’t afford to pay the staff an appropriate wage, then you shouldn’t be in business.

**If I’m mistaken please let me know, but from what I could find, there’s no way to opt out of this unless there’s exceptional circumstances.

Will my 22y/o and 19 y/o have a good time on a 7 night Mexican Riviera sailing in april? They are bringing a friend. I only ask because we took them on a 16 day Hawaiian cruise on princess and it was an awful experience for them. I was gonna book Royal this time because I know they would have fun but they won't let me book the 19y/o and her friend in their own room. Plus with virgin they can drink in international waters.

If I were to have a winning bid on a suite that can sleep 4 could I add a person to our reservation? Going from 2 sailors to 3.

If allowed I would expect to pay for the additional sailor.

Hello, my husband and I will be taking our first 2 cruises later this year - one on Margaritaville at Sea and one on Virgin Voyages. He’s never cruised before and I’ve only been on a couple cruises via NCL and Carnival with friends to Nassau. I think Nassau is the perfect port because you don’t need an excursion - beach, shopping, and historical sights are right by the pier.

Our upcoming Margaritaville at Sea cruise goes to Freeport and I’ve heard you need an excursion there because there’s not much to do by the port so I booked one.

My question is about our upcoming Virgin Voyages cruise - it goes to Phillipsburg, Fort-de-France, Bridgetown, Castries, and St. John. How are these ports? Are they close to beaches and shopping or should I invest in an excursion?

I did my first VV cruise 3 years ago and haven’t been on one since then. This spring I have an opportunity to go on another VV cruise, which I am really excited about because I had a blast on the first one.

When I went in 2023 it seemed like they were in the middle of making a lot of changes - e.g. they had just redesigned the Razzle Dazzle and ended the sex therapist show, etc. What other changes have they made since then? Have they been for the better or for the worse? I was in the Scarlet Lady the first time and the cruise I’m looking at this spring will be on the same ship.

Hi! I’m taking my first Virgin voyages cruise and it’ll be for the week of Halloween. I understand that on traditional VV cruises that there are several different themes including a pj party theme the first time and Scarlet night. The cruise begins on Halloween so I do not anticipate the first night being a PJ theme but instead costume themed. My question is for the other nights, what kind of themes can I expect so that I can pack accordingly?

I've been on a few VVs now and always had an iPhone with me, which has worked without any issues with the app / on board WiFi etc. I recently changed to a Galaxy Z Flip 8 - I know this might be a daft question, but wondering if anyone has sailed using this or a flip 7 and has had any issues? I sail in a few weeks and just want to make sure it all works seamlessly.

Hey all, I am going to be taking Virgin cruise for the first time in the end of November, and was wondering how fast is disembarking going. Is it risky to book a flight from FLL at 12:05pm? Or it is better stick with 3 pm flight?

Myself and my mom are going on our first VV cruise in a few weeks, we’ve done one before with P&O but that was about 15 years ago and I was a kid, so we’re both really looking forward to trying out Virgin. We’re going around Greece with an overnight in Mykonos.

I have a couple of questions, if those experienced VV sailors would be kind enough to answer :)

1- As it’s just my mom and me, we’ll probably want to make some friends on board. Is it possible to join the solo organised events/group chats even if you’re technically not a solo traveller? How easy have people found it to make friends when you’re in a smaller group/not a couple? I’m in my late 20s, are there often people in that age range on board? I’m aware cruises tend to be older, but i’m hoping there’s some other adult kids I can hang out with!

2- For the overnight in Mykonos, is there a curfew for getting back on the ship at night?

3- Do we need to take USD for betting in the casino? We love a bit of roulette, just wondering if it’s worth taking cash out before we travel, or how it works on board?

4- We’re staying in a central sea terrace. I’m a bit worried about fighting for space, especially for toiletries/makeup/mirror space when getting ready in the evening. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for space saving? Is it worth bringing a travel mirror? any ‘hacks’ for getting the most out of the cabins?
