Meme With a potential BETA this weekend, ppl need to know this one simple thing...

u/MaleficentBank405 1d ago
I shut the door, it hit my ass and didn't close.

People don't realize how trivial it is to get inside FOBs if you run IEDs or halligan bars.

u/Delicious_Loan622 1d ago
seen it the very last day of the beta. Like oh boy they are blowing the door up faster than I can get it temp blocked with a wall

u/SuperMeister 1d ago
RPGs.. C4. A squad of 6 can take over a FOB... Which is exactly what my group did lol. Killing fobbits is a fun pastime

u/PerfectPromise7 Lonestar 1d ago
Thanks for teaching us so we can learn from our mistakes. I made a ton of mistakes and I'm sure I'll make more but with every failure of a fob build I learned a lesson and my builds at the end of the beta were much stronger than the ones at the beginning.

u/Ok_Prize__ 1d ago
Same same. I was watching what made every fob fall. My final fob remained untouched until the end, but it was my best work. Got 10 heli kills sitting on my AA in the stadium to end the beta

u/TheHob290 1d ago
I cleared a few groups like you guys when my buddy built a fob in the middle of an open field. It was almost honeycombed out in chains of small chambers and the 2nd shotgun you unlock basically just swept through invaders. If a breach happened we'd have to repair some things, sure, but in order to get to the spawn vehicle youd have to go through at least 4 walls, 2 concrete, or 7 doors, the mf was entombed. Besides we expected hostility, we never let the zone leave the damn base.
3
u/SuperMeister 1d ago
Arty just counters this then. "entombing" an APC without hard (read: indestructible) overhead cover is basically pointless once arty enters the picture.
2
u/Professional_Two563 1d ago
Yeah but at that point their team would be stupid if they don't send backup to a fob getting assaulted and spammed with artillery.
2
u/TheHob290 19h ago
By the end of the match we had almost the full team in that fob excluding logi runners
1
u/TheHob290 19h ago
Built mortar outranges arty. Anything that had to stay still within mortar range was prtty quickly bombed to hell. The real counter would have been a multi tank push, we definitely didnt have enough anti armor to go through multiple tanks
1
u/SuperMeister 15h ago
Mortars 1000000% do not outrange arty, they have like 600m range, artillery can shoot several kilometers, can't remember the exact range atm. MAAWs (Gustaf) kill tanks pretty easily.

u/Werpogil 20h ago
RPGs are really bad vs fobs. I was doing some tank hunting with 5 RPG rockets total (4 in backpack, 1 loaded in). I shot 3 rockets, so now I had only 2 left, so couldn't take on a tank, so I decided to try to blow up the gate, and after 2 rockets the gate was still standing strong. C4s are a lot better in that regard.

Build airlocks
Make sure you can shoot down the line of your outer wall
28
u/floppypancakes4u 1d ago
That dont matter. Then they just leave both doors open. 🥲
8
u/UntimelyMeditations 1d ago
Then it is not a proper airlock.
8
u/MarshallKrivatach 1d ago
Problem is that this won't allow vehicle passage, just making a one way hesco wall for them to climb out of does the exact same thing but with no moving parts.
5
u/memiONE 1d ago
Build a garage that they can park in, and add a normal door on it so they can enter the main compound on foot from said garage if they have to.
1
u/Excellent-Olive-3513 1d ago
Your point is totally valid, but I noticed a lot of drivers want 2 doors in the FOB. One to enter, unload and then keep driving in the same direction and exit through the second, so they do not have to turn around and be slowed down.
3
u/memiONE 1d ago
This is perfectly doable. Just make a little box connected to the compound, add a 'gate' on both sides of said box and a normal door that leads into the main area.
This means they can still drive through 'one-way' with gate in front and behind while not being blocked by a crate or pallet.
1
u/Werpogil 21h ago
A good way is to make a |_| kind of dead end, the truck comes from the top of the symbol, stays in this dead zone, unloads the stuff himself and drives off. This sort of dead end has NO way to be breached, the only thing you risk here is the truck and the driver, but the FOB will be safe. Sure, might not be the most logi-friendly way, but you break-even on one pallet delivery for the Ural + 2 pallets + a cheap-ish kit, so it's not that big of a deal imo.
1
u/Flamecrest 1d ago
Sir this is Wardogs, not Dune Awakening.
On a more serious note, will you have enough time in a match to do this?
2
u/KptKrondog 1d ago
You can make the airlock so that the doors block passage if opened.
Best thing to do is to build up the tower really strong and split the towers into quadrants. This way, even if they gain access to the main compound, they can only access part of it.
13
u/WittiestOfNames 1d ago
And for those that didn't know - if the door hits your ass - it won't shut. You have to BE OUT OF THE WAY to close it.
I definitely didn't learn this the hard way.

u/ErrSkillNotFound 1d ago
Doors won’t matter when the mortar spam will be horrendous
5
u/PerfectPromise7 Lonestar 1d ago
That is still the one thing that I feel needs looking at after the beta. I had more complaints at the start of the beta but then I realized I just needed to adapt more but when it comes to the mortars, I just feel that there should be some way to help defend against them. My thought was let us build a c-ram that can destroy mortars but you have to keep it stocked with ammo and you have to keep it repaired of course.
4
u/TheHob290 1d ago
The defense, to many people's great displeasure, is spotters, scouts, snipers, and sappers. Blow the main fob structure and no more mortars. Hunt an arty and plant an IED on it and its gone for cheap.
My plan for some cheap money is run around as a scout, spotting while carrying a couple IEDs to remove FOBs. The number of FOB destructions I got on the last day was crazy.
3
u/ErrSkillNotFound 1d ago
Just a simple trophy system with ammo would be fine. Can even be line of sight system so you have to put them in a couple spots. If it runs out of counter measures then you can either build a new one or add more ammo to it. I would love to also see some kind of visual trail to help at least get a general direction sense of where the motor is coming from. I know that the expectation is someone can go looking around the map or have a chopper spotter where all they do is fly around the map looking for target, but I think people aren’t realizing that once the money farm starts, within a week you will see nothing but top tier unlocks dominating the match.

One entrance door period. Stop with the several entrances thing. And double airlock it.

2
u/TheHob290 1d ago
No no, individual chambers, treat invaders like water. If the breach one zone thats fine, they need to breach 3 more to get to something important. Someone leaves the front gate open? Thats fine they get to shoot some boxes.
1
u/Rampirez 13h ago
You can survive with multiple entrances just so long as you remember to section off the inner side of the FOB. One side is taken? We still have walls and doors to separate it from the rest if an FOB. Set up radio towers on each section so people in tower can know when we are being raided and can defend.

u/D4ngrs 21h ago
To be fair, the doors do close automatically. Somehow. Somewhen. I haven't really figured it out yet but they closed into my face multiple times without someone else being there and I saw others mentioning that, too.
It's just not fast enough to guarantee not getting raided by the other teams.
5
u/chinchillagg 1d ago
Shutting the door should give 5$ then you can make money shutting it behind you or just be a doorman
1
u/LikeZoinksScoobert 1d ago
People would just sit at the door opening and closing it. Or more likely, they would make a circle of doors spinning around in a circle opening and closing doors indefinitely.
2
u/FattyMcFuckhead 1d ago
hmm, get 1 single kill, or a revive with 2 bandages OR open and close a door 300 times?
they already have systems in place to prevent abuse, all they have to do is leave it at $5 and give it a 5 second cooldown.
Then it’s enough to let players know it’s a positing action for the team, but not enough to be abused.
1
u/KptKrondog 1d ago
Then just do like they do with revives. If you keep reviving the same person, you get less each time. Close a door, $50. next time, $25. Keep reducing it until after 4 or 5 doors, it's 0.

u/Jazzlike_Ad267 1d ago
2
u/KptKrondog 1d ago
You can just drive up to that with a truck and climb into the bunker though.

Doors don't matter, I'm bring IEDs/c4 either way if I'm assaulting a FOB.
It's gonna take like two days for people to realize the value of carrying IEDs and then unless there are active defenders doors won't matter.
3
u/Duesdextera 1d ago
This. Like hollieeee! I saw one dude drive his truck up to the wall and use it to jump over the wall. Then walk out the other side and left the door wide open. Then when asked to shut the door he loses his mind.It is wild how little information they can hold in their heads.

I think people do try to close FOB doors but then they don’t realize that doors will be propped open if you block it’s swing path

As someone who played a ton of pvp survival games, when i see someone leave the FOB door open and leave i get the urge to shoot them in the back.
1
u/StopatStopSign 1d ago
People are still being sent beta keys fyi
1
u/BamboozledOni 1d ago
This is what makes or breaks a FOB
2
u/Valtin420 1d ago
I used IEDs to break a single hesco block and we kept entering thru that spot while in global chat people were having a melt down about the doors being left open, they weren't.
1
u/BamboozledOni 1d ago
I’ve had an entire ally FOB stolen because someone left a door open
3
u/Valtin420 1d ago
And with the door closed the same thing could e happened with IEDs or C4, having a defendable and well defended layout is going to be the only way to keep people out.
The amount of mega fobs and tower fobs with people running all around but NO ONE paying attention or running defenses that I casually walked right up to and placed explosives on was absolutely ridiculous.
With how easy it is to reach the outside walls and place explosives doors are a moot point.
If the team isn't defending the fob the door doesn't matter.
1
u/OverwatchPlaysLive 1d ago
Anyone caught leaving my FOB doors open gets knee capped on the way out.
1
u/Breezy2G 1d ago
On top of closing doors, we need to make FOBs bigger. Need space for LZs, supply drops, mortars, etc. without having to hop over everything or feel like you’re nut to butt with everyone.

You guys need airlocks and layers of fortification with bastions that can be used to shoot people on the walls or in the airlocks. Most of y’all just build big squares with doors and that’s such a fucking killbox

u/10-Gauge Valkyra 18h ago
There I was, racking up a massive body count on the mortar, only to be shot point blank in the back of the head because you anal beads can't SHUT THE DAMN FOB DOORS!!! Do better.
1
u/ChazzyChaz_R 16h ago
I think a part of the problem, though I'm not sure how large, is that the doors don't always close even if you click on them. I've noticed even if just your ankle/foot are in the path of the door as it swings closed, the game registers that collision and stops the door from fully closing. I'd wager some people clicked to close the door and just assumed that it would close like it would in any other game not realizing it only closed part of the way.
1
u/anonymousvegz 10h ago
Close the fucking doors... he said Knowing danm well they won't notice the door catching their foot on the way out lol

u/kalebkk890 1d ago
If the game actually closed the doors when you press the button I would defend this point to my grave. Unfortunately I can't until they fix it.
11
u/Solidus_Sloth 1d ago
It does? You’re just standing in the way.

u/kalebkk890 1d ago
The hitbox on the door is much much larger than the door model. I tested it during the beta and was able to get it to hit me even at the absolute max range of being able to interact with it. Door close button should close the door and there is no argument anyone can come up with that makes any sense.
3
u/Drakore4 1d ago
Yeahhhh I understand why they’d want the doors to be more realistic for random buildings and stuff but the FOB doors being these giant metal things and yet our big toe stops it just doesn’t make sense. Those big things should nudge us out of the way, not the other way around.
2
u/TrippleDamage 1d ago
Do you have bigger models than I or any of my mates or sth?!
We close doors just fine after 3 times of the door hitting us and learning about the whole getting blocked thing lol
-1
u/ScheduledToPass Manticore 1d ago
It doesn't, doors are bugged , especially when you sprint through them
1
u/Solidus_Sloth 1d ago
Certified Manticore intelligence

u/ScheduledToPass Manticore 1d ago
Haha ? What do you mean ? Doors are meant not to be closed if you sprint through them ?

Build the announcer tower so you can chime in with a "haven't you people ever heard of closing the FOB-damn door?"
