Question Simple question
I did not play the beta. Very interested in the game. Quick question for the progression. The way I understand it is you can progress your kit as you play it to get unlocks. Like better find and helicopters etc. then you can. It them with your money.
So when the games over and you start a new game do you already have that higher tier unlock available to start with?
And if so how would the game balance it so one team isn’t just stomping the other cause they have the best gear right away?
Thank you!

Yes everything you unlock is unlocked until they decide to wipe the game (after 1 month in season1)
The balance is random, one team can have total noobs and one can have all high lvl guys. Theres no matchmaking, everythin can happen. You can still leave the server and search a new one if you get stomped.

Thanks. If you leave the game is there a penalty? Does sit auto balance the teams so one team doesn’t have 60% of the players they should?

There is no penalty for leaving early, you just miss out on a bit of winners money.
There is a bit of auto-balancing I think. It looked like you wont be able to join a team that has much more players than the others. It's most noticeable when a new round starts because then the team buttons just flicker in and out depending on what people choose.

There isn't really a system of balance other than the fact that everyone earns the same amount of money, and higher tier gear costs more, so a high level player who isnt good is gonna be broke if they just keep buying expensive shit.
Also, "losing" the match doesn't really matter. You get a slightly higher end of match bonus for placing higher, but you can earn way more throughout the match than you get as a finishing bonus. The end of match bonus basically functions as a way to prevent players from leaving once it gets down to the last few minutes, since they would just be wasting money on a kit going back to the point

That’s helpful thanks.
Is there a specific action that nets the most money? Kills. Revives. Building fob. Helo pilot etc…. ?

Someone will probably do a deep dive statistical analysis on what gets you the most money, but fuck that noise. Just figure out what is fun, and do that. I spent 90% of my time in a helicopter, my buddy built FOBs and ran supplies in trucks. Another friend loaded up on medical supplies and revived people for an hour. Lots of people enjoyed the gunplay and spent their time running and gunning. You make decent money doing any of those things, so just pick whatever results in you having a good time

Makes sense. Was just curious. I assume at initial spawn you have lots of people running for helos and it’s a shit show.
3
u/Rylando237 15h ago
At the start there are always a handful of people running to grab helicopters, but it isnt a complete cluster fuck usually. It definitely mellows out after the first wave gets brought to point

So there are choppers that spawn that don’t require money to buy? Like the starting black hawk or something? It only costs if you are upgrading to like little bird?
3
u/Rylando237 14h ago
Yes and no. At the start of the match, there are no free vehicles. After some amount of time, I believe a free blackhawk and a truck do spawn.
You do not get the blackhawk at the start of the game, you get the little bird. Once you level your pilot skill up (lvl 10 in beta I believe), you get the blackhawk which can carey more troops and supplies

Because everyone is levelling their gear. You're going to have poor people rocking the free kits and the juicers rocking 10k kits on every team.

Also due to the risk / reward nature of the game, even if someone has high tier stuff unlocked they still must spend $ to buy it each life. If they dont have the $ for the high tier gear they might be going in with a free kit too.

Another question. How long do games last on average? And when you join do you sometimes join a game already in progress? If you leave mid game is there a penalty ?
2
u/LC0311 18h ago
1-3 hours roughly.
1
u/chooch138 18h ago
Jeeeeeeeesus. And if you leave mid game do you lose all your progression you’ve made ?
3
u/LC0311 18h ago
Nope. You just lose your gear you have on you but all your xp and money stays.
1
u/chooch138 18h ago
Gotcha so as long as you are alive even if that’s means until the next game your loadout you bought is saved ?
3
u/DocMorp 18h ago
You always spawn empty. But the money for the loadouts isn't actually that much of an issue after you play for a bit. Just make sure you keep a bit of an buffer. If you are constantly tight on money, you do something very wrong.
Buy only what you really need and play smart and you get rich quite fast.
Ok, I once lost 20k because in half an hour due to of a combination of driver/pilot incompetence and overwhelming enemy force. But I made 30k back in 20 minutes later that session. Without doing a single shot.

And you can pick up guns off people you kill right? So you could upgrade weapons for no money.
1
u/MyStonedAlterEgo Medic 15h ago
You can kill someone and take their better gun, correct. Or find a teammate's body to grab it from.
In the alpha/beta it was possible to run $0 kits. You just buy the starter gun, which came with 1 short mag with some ammo, a tiny backpack, and a free respirator. You can only get the free items once per life but if you kill someone you can scav your way from zero to hero like in Escape from Tarkov if you have the patience/skill for budget runs.
1
u/chooch138 15h ago
Love that. So like ideally if you end the game with the upgraded weapons you ended with does that matter? Do you get paid for those or already have them the next game you play?
3
u/DocMorp 14h ago
Nope. All you inventory always only counts for your current life. And that ends when the round ends.
But as already said, don't sweat too much about the cost of gear. You earn enough and if you die the chances of revive are quite high. At least if you play with the team instead of running solo.

u/SMYYYLE 18h ago
Mostly 1-2h, you can join a game that already running yes, no penalty for leaving
2
u/chooch138 18h ago
So if I’m playing for 45m and have to bail (wife and kids) I will keep any progression I’ve earned during that short session?
2
u/Ok-Sundae-7806 Phantom Regiment 18h ago
They can easily be an hour if not more. It really depends on how the teams are playing, a fast and aggressive team that can hold the hotzone could wrap a game up very quickly. You will join some games in progress but leaving early doesnt have a penalty you just miss out on end of match bonuses.
During the alpha and beta games were typically around 1hr 30mins to 2hrs

u/FoxDense6183 18h ago
Usually around 60-90 minutes, there's no penalty for leaving any match other than losing a small amount of ending cash if your team does well and you do someone join a match in progress but you spawn right where your team respawns anyways so it's not a big deal

So from what ive been seeing the game will have "Monthly Wipes" which will revert all progression on classes and convert your money left over into gold bars. This will start everyone fresh each wipe besides skill points in the skill trees. That my understanding anyway, probably wrong.

1
u/chooch138 18h ago
And the gold bars are for cosmetics right?
2
u/NoTreat9279 18h ago
Not sure tbh, I dont recall them talking much aboit it but that would be my best guess
2
u/No_Bullfrog1554 18h ago
I don’t think it’s necessarily monthly wipes I think just the first one will wipe will be a month and then at some point I’m assuming they’ll go to a more seasonal wipe cadence.
2
u/No_Bullfrog1554 18h ago
Yup. All your excess cash will be converted to gold bars that can be used for cosmetics. And while progression right now totally resets I think they do plan on a persistent skill tree element that doesn’t get reset at some point

u/chooch138 18h ago
Thanks.
How do Squads work? Are there multiple squads for each faction? And is there a squad leader ?
2
u/No_Bullfrog1554 18h ago
I didn’t get to play much in squads last play through but I do think there’s a squad leader and more importantly there’s no cap on squad size so if you got a bunch of friends in the match with you they can all be in your squad. Yea there can also be multiple squads per faction it’s just dependent on how many people want to make a squad if that makes sense.
1
u/chooch138 18h ago
Interesting. Im curious if there is an overall commander like in bf2 who talks to squad leaders. And squad leaders can also talk to each other.
2
u/No_Bullfrog1554 18h ago
I don’t think there is currently but they could add it I just haven’t heard anything. Also not sure if squad leaders have their own channel to communicate
2
u/DocMorp 17h ago
No commander, no inter squad comms for now besides text chat.
1
u/chooch138 17h ago
Oh wow. How do people communicate needs to helo pilots? Team text chat??
1
u/MyStonedAlterEgo Medic 16h ago
Depending on what the heli's doing, there are pings you can make with your mouse button that will show certain needs such as supplies for building up around fobs (don't think there was a way to ping the other fob resources, can't remember). The other option is the pilot can hover over the fob's map icon and see resource levels and what's low if he's doing delivery runs
1
u/chooch138 16h ago
Awesome. Thanks!
In your experience was there a constant mad scramble for helos at the start of the game? Or is it anyone can buy one to fly it they wanted to? Not sure if they just always spawn a finite amount per map

u/Sovietbrick 18h ago
As far as we're aware they're solely for cosmetics. you can buy gold bars early before the wipe but it'll be fluctuating in price. I dunno how it'll set the ratio on a wipe.
1
u/chooch138 18h ago
Gotcha. So the money you get in game from playing goes towards any kits or equipment you buy during that season.
16
u/Luuqzo 18h ago
Yeah unlocks are persistent and last the entire season! So season 1 is a month you’ll have everything you work for and unlock and all your money for a month and then reset back to 1 and $10,000
