Question Any steam machine users?

Did anyone here by any chance launch the game on a steam machine?

I didn’t get to play in the beta at the weekend, as someone running just a steam machine nowadays for their PC gaming I’d like to know if this game will run at all well on it?

I know someone got it running on the steam deck on YouTube (albeit at very compromised settings!) and the devs have said they are adding support for proton / Linux OS, so my question is more about performance than whether it’ll actually launch.

I’d be playing on a 3440X1440p monitor, but would be happy to run in windowed (1080p etc) mode if it means I’ll get 60fps at a good graphics level still, but ideally I’d play full screen

If it’s a disaster on the steam machine, then I may have to wait for the console release when the game reaches 1.0!

Yes also you have a subreddit quick google or search in reddit probably gives you more: https://www.reddit.com/r/steammachine/s/kaFWL1MFTq

Here's a person on your lil brother the steam deck: https://youtu.be/WJil60b2xJc?is=OiDueEUazNoaAd24

Runs fine at 1080p 60 and 1440p 60 with mixed settings or go lower for try hard on the steam machine.

Edit:Obviously worse on the deck since that has to be said for the "ackshually meme boys"

I wouldn't call that playable on the steam deck, it runs terribly

I saw one user comment that it ran great on CachyOS so SteamMachine will probably be fine. How well depends on the actual hardware.

I don't own a steam machine and my PC is pretty significantly more powerful than one, but even then I can confirm that it impressed me. With everything all the way up and at 4k, FSR at quality mode,I consistently hovered around 90/100 fps with a few kinda common exceptions. I'm also on Linux and had no problems running it through proton

It’s not logical to buy a steam machine in any scenario lmao.

It's not logical that you ran through every possible scenario and determined that there are no scenarios to purchase something

Don't mean to denigrate your purchase... but the Steam Machine is objectively "meh" for PC gaming, which is wild considering that is specifically what it's made for. I guess it's a good box to play indies and games with low-to-moderate demand tho

My experience with it so far has been fantastic, and that’s not a cope, I bought it for different use cases that don’t require super high settings / FPS, but war dogs looks so good, just wanted to know if it’ll be good enough, turns out from the link from Wreid23 that it runs it well enough for me

While I agree that for the same amount of money one can get a better performing PC, no questions about it.

However the only reason for a steam machine imho is form factor, similar to a console and connect it to a TV and use a controller.

In that scenario it makes sense, you get console "experience" but with access to a widely more accessible game library. Similar to what next gen Xbox most likely will offer...

Running a Steam machine on a desktop with a monitor makes little to no sense imho, unless you super tight for space.

Yeah I get all the points people have against the steam machine - and there is certainly merit to some of the comments.

My case is that I moved away from desk based PC gaming a couple of years ago back to console (came as part of a lifestyle change, and not wanting to spend my life at a desk and wanting a simple / accessible set up), the steam machine appealed to me on this basis as I already have a large library of games ready to go, and it also plays smaller new coop indie games you don’t get on console completely fine!

I didn’t expect this to blow up into a debate over the steam machine 😅 just wanted to know if anyone played Wardogs on it
