Ask For Opinions My Dress

So I bought my dress second hand, as that is what I can afford. I'm the second owner of the dress. It was $5,000 which the first owners had paid, they sold the dress for $120, which is what I paid. I love it. I'm just curious of others opinions. With pictures of my veil at the end, just the veil, I have worn it yet.

Styling Ideas Cape instead of veil :)

My custom cape came in today! I knew I didn’t want a traditional veil, as it would have made me feel too traditional & “innocent”.
I still wanted that extra something to extend past the train of my dress ( maybe a little too far oops) so when I discovered that a cape was an option, i immediately loved it.
This one is a custom royal length (4 meters) off Etsy! It might be a tad longer than I would have wanted, but at least it’ll bring all the drama! My dress train is 2ish meters for reference!

Ps: pls ignore the mess, I am currently on a pre wedding decluttering rampage

Bridal Accessories what color half slip?

Post image

want to get a half slip to smooth the skirt area and make it less see-through but not sure if I should go with a white/ivory one or nude. I’m super fair skinned so usually go for white over nude but am seeing a lot of suggestions for nude under wedding dresses, so just looking for some opinions!

Dress Regret/Need Support I think I have dress regret

EDIT: Well, I have read all of your kind comments and your response is overwhelmingly positive, so thank you all! 😅 I am definitely feeling better about my choice, and will not be trusting the evil mirror in the fitting room going forward.
I’ll post an update photo when I go with my MOH to my next fitting in a few days, and I’ll definitely take your suggestions and be more vocal to the seamstress!
Plus, I’m bringing my veil and I won’t have to rely on just a mirror for pictures! (My veil is layered with pink and blue tulle, so that should bring out the pink more.)

Wedding is in October and I am not feeling good about my dress anymore. It’s too late and expensive to get a different one, is there any hope?

I tried the dress on twice at two appointments each (I had an appointment at a different shop between the two appointments with this one and couldn’t stop thinking of it.) and I was so sure when I bought it. It was dramatic and big but still lightweight, and it’s pink even though it’s subtle. And, though in hindsight the stylist had probably just clamped the back really good because the sample was too big, my waist was so defined! For months I was so happy with my dress, and then mine came in.

This may have just been the white toned light in the alteration fitting room as opposed to the warm showroom lighting, but mine looks more white than it does “pink champagne.” That doesn’t bother me too much.

I’m not sure if mentioning this is against the rules, but my weight loss efforts have not been as successful as I’ve hoped. But I still lost some weight in between purchasing and my fitting, so I don’t know why I look so wide. I went into that fitting so excited and left just feeling horrible, I can’t stand to look at the pictures I took.

I have another fitting in a couple days. They’ve added cups in the bust, and there was some room to take in the waist but I don’t think they did. Maybe they can still do it? The back has buttons that go down the skirt, so I don’t think turning it into a corset back to cinch in the waist is an option,
even without time being a factor. Maybe I can get an actual corset and take the waist in? They told me I didn’t need any shapewear and shouldn’t use any because the hips were free, but I wish I went with my instinct.

First two photos are after alterations last month, last photo is the clamped on sample the day I bought it.

Hey everyone! I know this is a long shot, but I’m obsessed with two previous line Maggie Sottero and one Sottero and Midgley dresses and have had no luck finding them in my size. Does anyone know where I could find these dresses or strikingly similar looks I could try for myself? I have tried to look at Stillwhite but no luck. I’m a size 20, and having black in my dress in some capacity is a must. My budget is 3,000 USD. Please help a girl out! Thank you so so much!

Budget Tips Can’t afford alternations, how to make strapless dress stay up & support breasts??

Post image
12 Upvotes

I am getting married mid October this year!!! We are very much on a budget and are doing a Vegas elopement. I love my dress and my friends Grandmother has offered to hem it, however, it is strapless and I have a larger chest and I cannot figure out what to do other than clear straps that will support the girls?!? I cannot afford any other alterations. The back is also an open corset style, so I can’t really wear a bra with this dress. I have considered white colored shapewear that will give the illusion of fabric underneath the corset but I’m looking for any other suggestions.

Please give me any suggestions!!

(the dress is Fashionbride on Amazon)

Alterations Should I make it a corset?

Hi guys! I bought a dress two years before 2027 wedding and well I don’t think it will fit since I was at my smallest and I’m still recovering from holidays meals. During my appointment they kept saying omg it’s a perfect fit, all you have to do is alter the length! And now I’m thinking I should change the back from a zipper to a corset. When I went shopping I never imagined a sleeveless dress and now I’m worried without the zipper I’m going to pulling it up all night. I’m also planning to do a hooded lace cape instead of a traditional veil.

Bridal Accessories How should I style this for my civil ceremony?

I am getting married at a courthouse civil ceremony in Orange County, CA and will take photos after. What jewelry would you recommend with this neckline? Earrings, necklace? My grandmother gave me a short pearl necklace I’d love to wear to honor her, but unsure about it with the neckline and scarf. I’m not totally sure on wearing the scarf - I’m open to no scarf depending on jewelry.

Also, how should I do my hair - up or down?

Finally, I’m going to DIY a bridal bouquet. Any ideas for something that would match this style of dress?

Not pictured, but I did get shape wear for this to look more seamless over the midsection.

Thanks for the help in styling for my big day!

Ask For Opinions Dance Costume as a Wedding Dress?

I have been learning viennese waltz with my Fiancée for our first dance and my instructor told me i should starting looking for a dress. I really want something that looks beautiful when I dance.

Ever since I saw this dance on DWTS (dance at about 2 minutes in) I’ve loved the idea of having a feather trim on my dress. It looks so beautiful when she spins.

The problem is all the wedding dresses shops i’ve looked at have absolutely no feather dresses at all. I’ve seen some dance costumes that do. Has anyone used a dance costume as their wedding dress before? I’m worried about looking too “costumey”.

While the accessories are a bit much, I think I'm happy with the sparkle ✨️ Might tone it down a bit, we'll see.

Where can I find a dress like this from a reputable seller?

My mom sent me a link for this wedding dress, which is unfortunately from a sketchy seller on Etsy and is likely an AI image. That said, I do love the design (my mom does know me well lol) and would love to get a real dress like this from a reputable bridal shop that specializes in non-traditional wedding dresses with floral/embroidery elements. I’ve been checking out Flora and Lane, but I’ve heard mixed things about the quality of the fabrics and how suitable some of the dresses are for women with larger bust sizes (I’m a 32E). I’d love to spend less than $3000 (ideally $2000 or less). Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

I want to make this have WAY more volume! I like the big poofy ballgowns. How do I get a petticoat big enough to make it into one? Which hoop skirt would work with satin? I need like exact links to ones that would work.

Styling Ideas Do I need a spray tan

Post image
24 Upvotes

Hi all

I had two spray tan trials. One medium. One light and felt I was too bronzed and not myself. I tried gradual tanner but had patches. I’m less than 2 weeks out now and I’m trying to think what the best thing to do is.

For reference this is me in my in my dress the day I collected it, which was in December, window directly in-front
