AC not working right since yesterday

Post image

And we work remotely 😭

Still blows out air but it's not cool/cold. Waiting for our AC guy (we rent, and there's been so many AC issues as long as we've lived here). Hopefully it'll be a quick fix when he comes and we won't have to wait for a part to come in the mail or something.

This is with all the shades and windows closed. We're in SoCal. Thank goodness this didn't happen when it was in the 100°Fs last week.

lol what can I search to see how to fix this? I’ve become very passionate about understanding my AC unit. I don’t have time or the will to go to HVAC school but I love AC and lose my mind when my unit goes down. So I’m always down to learn a trick or two

I'm also just going to jump in to say, BE VERY CAREFUL.
DO NOT touch the connectors on the capacitor itself.

Capacitors can discharge hundreds of volts into you if you short it across the terminals.

And make sure that you flip the breaker off before doing any work.
Always treat any electrical work with the utmost respect and focus.

But, that out of the way, the swap is super easy to do.
I've had to replace my compressor's starting capacitor before.

Just make sure you get the same exact rating of capacitor and you're good to go.
