I wanted to share something that happened in Rishra, Hooghly.

Residents were facing problems with illegal dumping, accumulated drain sludge, and irregular garbage collection in parts of the locality.

Our local team documented the situation and submitted a written complaint to the municipality regarding the dumping and sanitation issues.

The before-and-after photos show what happened afterward:

• 🗑️ Garbage accumulation was cleared from one location.
• 🧹 Drainage sludge that had been left beside the road was eventually removed.
• 🚧 Some problematic areas were cleaned following complaints.

However, the bigger question remains:

Why does it often take a formal complaint for basic sanitation work to happen?

And how can municipalities make garbage collection and drain cleaning more consistent so that residents don't have to repeatedly complain?

We're sharing this not simply as a "success post", but to ask people from Rishra, Serampore and Hooghly:

Hey. I wanted to connect with some St Xavier's Kolkata students, I had some queries.

The Election Loss was not an Election Loss, it was an Official Handover, Returning the Favor. We all know the Stats and Numbers and How things took place. All I want to say is one thing - When the Ruling Government says "Janata" or "People" are behind them, that's a narrative for you to accept that this is the people's motion, but you can rest assured, it is not. There's a very low number of people who support such stuff. It's Just Media Narrative.

What we need is Literate Leaders to come into the Picture. We have seen 2 Goon Governments. Let's not make the mistake again and try to get involved in Politics and Leadership ourselves.

There was a Reason why they never had a footprint in Bengal, there was a Reason why they supported the formation of TMC. There's a reason why they have formed a Government, where they were never allowed because of their Anti-National and Anti-Cultural, Dictatorial, Totalitarian thought process.

As a Bengali, we mostly use mustard oil at home. But for luchi, porota, pakora, chop etc, we usually use refined “sada tel” like soybean, sunflower or rice bran oil because mustard oil has a strong smell and taste.

I’m trying to get better oil for my family without spending much more. Something around ₹150/L would be ideal.

I found cold pressed groundnut oil and it looks like a good option. It has a mild taste and seems good for frying too, but costs too much to convince my parents.

Is there any other way?

After major challenges related to land acquisition, political feuds, regulatory deadlocks, pandemic disruption & environmental clearances we have finally arrived after 8 years since oil was first discovered in the Ashoknagar fields.

The best part - The quality of crude is pretty similar to that of the Mumbai offshore field which is sweet & light with low sulphur content, making it highly desirable and easy to refine.

This will give a massive boost to the regional economy. This oil well being closer to Haldia refinery & with Haldia Refinery setting up India's first OCT (Olefin Conversion Technology), we can hope for a new economic breakthrough for Bengal.

Here's hoping Bengal rises again 🙏
