Politics Why don't we hold our local MPs and MLAs more accountable for development?

I have often wondered why public criticism in India is so heavily focused on national-level leaders and ministers, while MLAs and MPs often escape the same level of scrutiny.

If we genuinely want development at the ground level, shouldn't we be putting more pressure on our local representatives as well? An MLA or MP represents a comparatively smaller geographical area and should, in theory, be more accessible and aware of the problems faced by people in their constituency.

**Yet, we often see the children and relatives of politicians roaming around in expensive cars, posting reels and flexing their lifestyles—while basic issues in their constituencies remain unresolved**. This raises a genuine question: What responsibilities do MPs and MLAs actually have towards the people who elected them, and why aren't we holding them accountable enough?

For example, regarding issues such as the condition of government schools recently highlighted by CJP, the central govt can't do anything, if the people appointed at the village level or town level are corrupt. These elected people don't get enough criticism, because we are too obsessed with opposing any specific party or ideology. Whereas the basic work should begin with questioning the local leaders and then automatically the upper govt will also wake up.

**Would like your opinions on this!**

PS- I am politically neutral. I don't support any party. All are incompetent. But whoever is in power (whether at national level, state level, or district/village level) should be criticize and held responsible for their incompeteness to work for the people
