Question More Development in the Morgan Junction?

I was always wondering why there isn't more development in the Morgan Junction area (similar to the Alaska Junction). It is easily accessible, has amenities (e.g. a supermarket) and has a frequent bus stop.

Is there an appetite for something like this?

Basically the title. It’s been quite a few months since they closed. Is the remodeling done? Hope Andrea and Michael are doing well.

Question Outdoor Recreation Group. Thoughts?

Overall how interested would people be in forming a West Seattle Outdoor Rec Group?

I know there's probably a Meetup, but my issue with it is that many times the spots are limited and people live all over Seattle. It makes coordinating carpooling difficult and its a new set of faces each time. Also, there just seems to be the same repetitive hikes we probably have done- Lake 22, Snow Lake, Mt Si, Rattlesnake Ledge, etc.

My vision is a community group, club that people regularly attend and get to know each other. Activities would also be geared towards individuals who are comfortable and experienced outdoors. Activities would range from hiking, backpacking, camping, kayaking, paddleboarding and snowshoeing/winter hikes.

Hikes/Activities during the week could also be a possibility as some of us have irregular schedules.

My partner and I are frequently out and about, and there's so many beautiful areas we have yet to explore! More than happy to have people join!

Gripe Uniform Change at Kroger umbrella stores?

I have been a patron of the Westwood Village QFC basically the entire time I have lived in Seattle, coming up on 6 years.

I was doing my shopping yesterday, and while I was going through the store, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. It didn't click until I got to the self checkout: all of the employees were all now wearing what I'm assuming is required clothing: blue shirt, black vest, both Kroger branded.

While not a world ending change, I really feel like the employees being required to wear somewhat of a uniform removes part of the reason that I shop at QFC, which was that it felt like a local grocery store instead of yet another one of the conglomerates (because it was, prior to the Kroger acquisition).

Forcing employees to wear that garish shade of blue that is so at odds with the rest of the vibe of the store, and strips the employees of their uniqueness and personalities.

Notice Someone egging cars near PCC

Was driving home tonight going south on California and someone threw and egg at my car near the PCC.

Kinda annoying to have a last minute car wash at 10pm.

Heads up for anyone, I'm assuming it was some dumb high schoolers but who knows.

Art & Nature Shooting star / comet just now

Did anyone else see that? It looked incredible, it was a giant flaming ball with sparks flying from it. It was to the south about 5 mins ago.

Maybe it was a satellite burning up? Does anyone have info on this?

Crime Random Cruelty of Stranger

Someone keyed my / my late wife's beloved car today in the Alaska Junction parking lot next to Missing Piece during the Farmer's Market. I know that it had to be deliberate because there was no way you would even get close to the car unless you intended to do so as it was in a disability space that was separated off. You literally had to walk out of your way to get that close to my car. And I know that it was fresh because I had just been by that panel leaving the car an hour before and I would have noticed, and there was still a strip of the paint hanging off where it had been keyed.

I had my disability placard up and I use a walker so I'm not even an 'invisible' disability person that are often unfairly attacked for using disability spaces. So I don't think somebody would key her for being in the disability space.

I just don't really understand why somebody would do that. It's just mean. I hadn't talked to anybody. I didn't know anybody. I don't know anybody. I'm a lonely widow with very few friends and know very few people here. (I am a severe introvert with social anxiety.) The only bumper stickers I have are for Alki Beach and Folly Beach and an Eidelweiss flower for my lage wife. My license plate is local. I don't know, maybe they were mad because they thought that I moved here from South Carolina. I didn't. I have lived in West Seattle on and off for two decades. I just have the Folly sticker because it was my wife's second favorite beach.

I was having a rough enough day. I didn't need that too. I am barely surviving out here day to day since losing my wife, and I don't need the cruelty of random strangers on top of that.

Question Saturday night EV response

Saturday night, 8/29, there was a multi-EV response at about 10 PM westbound on Alaska, just east of 45th. It looked like it involved an injured bicyclist. Does anyone know what happened? We were out walking our dog and Alaska between 44th and 45th was nearly full of vehicles with police, fire, EMT, and private ambulance vehicles.

Recommendation Request Deck column wrap & structural repair

The columns/posts at the bottom of our deck stairs have water damage and one of the wraps has completely rotted away. The post structure itself is loose as well. We’d like the column wraps to be rebuilt and repainted/stained. Anyone have a recommendation for someone who could do a smallish job like this that is experienced in decks? Thanks in advance.

News Lumen (formerly CenturyLink) Internet Issues Solved

For the past week or so, my internet has been very spotty, slow, and just unreliable.

I power cycled all the things, looked for outages, and just resigned to hating AT&T for ruining my internet service I never had to think about for the past several years.

I decided to check my DNS settings as I always set those to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1) as it's always faster than whatever default your router or ISP uses.

Sure enough, I did not have this set and was using Lumens DNS. Once I added in the Cloudflare DNS my internet came back to full speed and hasn't dropped since.

Hope this helps others in the area who may be seeing degraded service from Lumen.

I have no affiliation with Cloudflare or Lumen. Do your own research or ask a nerd friend if it's safe to change your DNS.

Recommendation Request Pants hemmed for under $25?

Looking for a place I can take some pants to have hemmed and it seems everywhere charges at least $25. I have quite a few pairs so would like to find somewhere more affordable.

I have jeans too, and I know the hem is trickier, but would rather not spend $40 on those if possible.

Thanks!
