Discussion BV-111 (Tier 11 of Udes15/16) real life inspiration: Stridsvagn 2000 T140/40

I mean this is so obvious , at least this time WG did not butchered the real design too much.

Kingdom of Sweden (1984)

Main Battle Tank – 1 Wooden Mock-up Built

Sweden’s MBT that never was

The Strv 2000 project was intended to fulfill Sweden’s need for a modern main battle tank (MBT). In 1984 the Swedish government began to look into replacing the Strv 103 and Strv 104 tanks it had in service.
The intent was to assess the feasibility of a Swedish design, as well as to look foreign designs. These were to be either to be built under license in Sweden or ordered from a foreign manufacturer. The vehicle that would be chosen would come into service around the year 2000, hence the name of the Swedish prototype.

The T140/40 design

The T140/40 version was the only one to be turned into a full-scale model and came nearest to achieving production of all the Strv 2000 designs. It was to be armed with a 140 mm cannon, mounted centrally, and a 40 mm autocannon independently mounted on the left side. Two machine-guns are also featured in the plans, one coaxial with the 40 mm and one on the commander’s hatch.

Both the cannons were served by an autoloader, 29 shots being available for the main gun, and 148 for the secondary. The large caliber ammunition was held in a drawer-like storage container at the rear of the hull, which could be ejected in case of detonation. The vehicle also had two flare launchers, which were to be used to illuminate targets at night. The vehicle was not fitted with night vision equipment.

The frontal protection should have been equivalent to 800 mm of RHA against kinetic penetrators and 1200 mm against HEAT rounds. This was achieved with the use of modular ERA plates which were placed at a certain distance from the body. Also in order to help protect the crew, the 1500 hp engine and the transmission were placed at the front of the vehicle.
The 3 crewmembers were all placed on the right side of the vehicle, with the driver in the hull, the gunner in the turret front and the commander just behind him, having the most elevated position. It can be argued that there is a rather large blindspot on the left side of the vehicle.
However, in the end, the production of the Strv 2000 T140/40 would have been costly and slow to implement, and given the changing geopolitical climate, it was abandoned in favor of a foreign design.

Discussion Did anyone check the shugo's armor?

Post image

EDIT/tl:dr: it seems lots of people are misunderstanding the post. I'm not saying the shugo is OP, I am saying it forces you into a single possible playstyle (hulldown), which is a big downgrade compared to the hori3 in terms of engagement, fun and overall use-of-brain (also meh to play and meh to play against). I would personally give a big buff to the lower plate armor, mobility and slighlty nerf the superstructure to put it more in line with its predecessor.

Everyone is (rightfully so) focused on the new, seemingly broken, german heavies, but can we talk about the shugo? How can we go from the Ho-ri3, which needs smart positioning, has got some armor but it's unreliable and requires quick peeks/smart angle holding in order to be effective to this unpennable-no weakspots hulldown abomination?

This is a PTZ78 situation, you go from a tank that needs a brain to play to something dumbproof and horrible to play against. Keep in mind, look at that lower plate, this tank won't be as strong as the PTZ78 and it will get wasted outside of a hulldown, I'm simply pointing out how lots of tank lines' unique playstyles get completely neutered at T11:

WZ113 GFT = similar situation to HO-RI3.

T110E5 = from lower plate baiting, aggressive gameplay and a strong hull to, you guessed it, hulldown tank.

Maus = needs very precise angling and knowledge ---> Just angle randomly and wiggle in a ratte.

M48 Patton = from versatile gameplay, can do a bit of everything to, you are not gonna believe this, mainly hulldown tank.

Not every tier 11 is subject to this, but some lines legit see their (imo) main selling point completely destroyed when upgrading to t11. I understand lots of people won't care about this, I mean, if the hulldown t11 will be more effective than it's predecessor, that's all that matters to them and that's fine. I just think it's very sad to see fun tanks get reduced to boring machines, even when they become more effective in the process.

Maybe it's only me, since I like to learn a tank and get good results in difficult vehicles to play, but I don't see how the game will benefit from completely stripping it of all of its variety and creativity.

Nowadays it feels like if you know how to play a couple tanks, you can pretty much play everything else and, when everything feels the same, what's the point of buying new stuff?

LONGREAD. (I have used a translator from my language to english, this is not AI text, its my message)

I’ll start by saying that I first played the game in February 2025; I had just quit my previous job, and while looking for a new one, I filled my spare time by playing it. Then an update 2.0 came out that gifted players a free tech tree line up to Tier 10 and New Year update with another free tech tree, and things really took off from there... I probably spent about 350-400 hours for this game...

I started playing almost every day—at first for an hour or two, but later for three or four whenever I bought a GFN subscription (my laptop isn't powerful enough to run it locally, so I always use GFN—either the free tier with its one-hour limit or the paid subscription). In other words, that limitation didn't stop me; if anything, it had the opposite effect. Right now, if you look at my stats, I’m a total "tomato"!

That means I shouldn't even be suffering from the "sunk cost fallacy," because I’m not a good player at all—people often point that out in the chat right at the start of a match...

Even if I lose five, six, or seven matches in a row and then win just one, my desire to play doesn't vanish—it actually grows... How do I break this cycle? It’s directly affecting my life; I don’t have a family yet, but I need to advance financially—which means continuing my education rather than putting it off. But I just can't seem to manage it.

I’ve even tried deleting the game and hiding anything related to *Tanks* from my Reddit feed, yet somehow I always end up back here... How can I deal with this? I can't control myself; the game triggers a strange mix of a "high" and anger—sensations that, for some reason, my mind actually enjoys... Please, can you recommend effective way to leave? I've tried to delete my account, but stopped literally at last click...

Discussion WOTDLE needs your help!

Sorry for the slightly click-baity headline. I'm the creator of WOTDLE, the daily World of Tanks guessing game, and I'm finally working on getting it out of Beta.

Honest confession first: I haven't played much WoT over the last few months — other projects took over and WOTDLE ended up neglected. It deserves better, so I'm picking it back up properly.

Two things I'd love help with:

1. Map screenshots. Map Guesser currently only covers 23 of the 42 maps in the game. To make the pool complete and more varied, I need screenshots from the remaining 19. If you'd be up for grabbing a few, reply here or drop me a line at [info@wotdle.net](mailto:info@wotdle.net) and we'll sort out the details — which maps are still missing, what angles work best, and what resolution I need.

2. Bug reports. If you run into anything broken or see stats that look off, tell me — either via the Contact button on the site or right here in this thread. I'm going through the game properly right now, so this is the best possible moment for it.

Thanks to everyone who's been playing and have a wonderful day!

Question Any way to remove the preview/showcase animation where they show 3 tanks at the start of the battle?

Instead of analyzing the map and thinking where to go I get stuck in that 3 tank show case that I have no interest in seeing at all.

Question Griefers

How much of cunt you need to be ram your friendlies in order to skewer their aim, so you can get the kill for yourself? Should I sent report for that?

Me in my shrek, fully almost aimed at enemy prototipo with 120 health. "Friendly" T-44-100 comes and rams me, throws my aim of guard, which allows the protipo to track me. As I already used my repair kit beforehand, could not repair my tracks in time and got immidiately killed by enemy arty.

Love it.

Yeah T-44-100 managed to get the T-44-100 for "himself".

Discussion Isn't the replay system slightly outdated?

One thing in this game that has barely changed in the past 15 years is the replay system. Actually when it got introduced, the replay ended with post battle results 13+ years ago, so it has gotten slightly worse.

Overall in 2026 I feel like it could get some rework. I have to close the game, launch the replay file and have to store X gb of replays for approx X thousand games played, it definitely could be more advanced. For example it should not be on player, but rather battle level, so I can check evemy POV if i'm interested. Also the fact that you need 3rd party stuff to analyze them at all is awkward to me.

Sure, I already see the argument coming my way "that does not make money for WG". Well it certainly could, just hide this advanced replay feature behind a WoT Plus paywall, I don't even care, at least that would not be pay2win at all, all you pay for is comfort.
