After 3 weeks waiting, my X4 Pro arrived. I was thrilled. Going through the recovery of an eye cirurgy I was looking for this little de vice to keep me reading with only one eye.

First night I give it a go with the stock firmware after charging it to 100%. Next morning I noticed a lot of battery was gone. I thought it was my fault and didnt care about it. Since I had problems finding a font with all the needed characters for my mother language (european portuguese) I flashed crosspoint into it and what a diference. Much better in my opinion. Easy font finding and much fluid UI.

Read a bit at night and most of the battery was gone again.

Next morning 30% of battery gone in sleep mode. After some reditting, I realised im not the only one with this problem and with another one i didnt realize then, the light doesnt go warmer, just brighter.

Hoping it was a crosspoint terror, reflashed to the stock firmware but the problems stays.

Been for a week now waiting for costumer service to answer my email but nothing.

A developer from crosspoint reached one of my comments trying to help but since this is clearly a HW problem, it has to be xteink solving it.

I tried several things that xteink told other users to do with the same problems but no success.

It seems to me that there is a bad batch of X4pros and xteink doesnt care about who got it. Since the yt reviewers get a good one everything is fine.

I had high expectations but I feel like I was robbed. I dont recomendado this experiente to anyone.

Thinking of asking for a refund. Anyone had good luck with a refund?

I am aware that it's not going to be bulletproof just to be clear lol I am asking in terms of regular use.

I already own a Kobo Libra Colour and have been eyeing the X3 for a more on-the-go option or for when I am waiting for something in office and can read on instead.

Issue is, I live in a slightly humid place where it rains very often and many times unexpectedly, would it hold up well in such weather? I do plan on buying the silicon case and screen protector etc but still, how durable is it?

Additionally, E-ink displays are rather fragile so if you mostly keep it behind your phone would it not be damaged at some point? Like, any experience if anyone has had?

Hi all, some special characters like spanish accents are not showing in my X3 with stock firmware, is there any fix for this without flashing any other firmware?

Has any custom firmware come out for the Pro with a search function? Would it even have enough power or memory to support it?
Wondering because I figure the touch screen would help with typing things out. I’m trying to get back into reading with my x4 and I guess my brain is out of practice at retaining some stuff because I sometimes forget things from earlier in the books like which character did what. Maybe this will get better the more I read or maybe I should get a boox.

Need advice for CrossPoint 1.6.0rc stability for X4 Pro

I am a total nerd, but for this device, I just want to use for reading and not debugging/fixing.

I finally received my X4 Pro!
I ordered it directly through the Xteink website, and it arrived in just under 8 days. Honestly, it’s even cooler than I expected! It feels surprisingly solid and heavy in the hand, and the build quality feels really good.
I flashed it with Crosspoint and Crossink (which, IMO, is the coolest firmware so far). It took me about an hour to figure everything out, and voilà. I was up and running!
The Xteink community is pretty much amazing. There are tons of helpful members, and almost every step is spoon-fed through different guides and posts. Even if you’re completely new to it, there’s plenty of help around.
I’m so excited to finally start reading with it! I’ve only read a couple of pages so far, but I already feel weirdly attached to it. 😂
So far, it feels much more comfortable, exciting, and handy to use compared to my Kindle Paperwhite.

So I got a new SD card like a month ago and haven't just used it and everything and I just put it into my xteink 4 and the hard is not working I don't understand why this is happening because I keep getting errors 😭 I legitimately don't know what's wrong with the SD card I've tried fiddling it around with it every single way I know and I even checked and made sure the SD card is the right file format it is a 128 gig card etc.

I legitimately don't know why it's not working and I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with it and I have no idea how to go about this I really want the new card in because I want to insert more of the classics onto my e-reader and etc so yeah please help if you can tell me what's wrong with it

I just finished a beta Pokemon game for the X3.

Heavily inspired by:

• Joshua Miller's CrossPoint Reader Companion: reading companion and reading behavior
• u/xDaftTurtle's Pokédex sleep-screen project: adapted X3 Pokédex cards

It adds a pokemon companion to your dashboard that gains exp as you read. There's also a pokedex and random encounters so you can try and catch them all. My math estimates about 500 hours of reading to complete the 151 original dex.

This is only X3 for now (I have an X4 with a broken screen and will consider porting it after I fix the screen). This whole project is being beta tested by myself as we speak. Feel free to test and provide feedback. Its provided as is with the untested alpha/beta warning.

I mean seriously, do they take no precautions like a protective case or even, heaven forbid, one of those stupid screen protectors? Common sense would dictate that you put at least a minimum amount of protection on your devices before chucking them in a bag or a pocket!

So this will be my first Eink device ever and I have read that Eink displays are a bit more fragile than standard phone displays. So my question for the long time users of the X4 (not pro model) is what screen protectors and cases do you recommend to keep the device protected? It will be doing a lot of traveling either in a backpack or pants pocket so definitely looking for something durable as it was a pain to track down a black model X4 and would rather not have an accident lol.

Also interested in discussing reading lights, I have one already for hardcover books that I could possibly use, but it doesn't come with a magnet on it so If there is one that comes recommended I'll definitely look into it! Is there a way in crossink to just.... Flip the whole OS? I like using the reader upside down, I made my cover picture upside down. The only thing right side up is the OS lol

Has anyone else been having issues with customer support? I tried contacting them to return or exchange my x3 following the eink screen breaking and have had nothing but trouble over the course of the last week due to email delays and consistent changes of what they are asking of me originally they had just asked for images of the item and I would be able to return the item then afterwards it turned into more images and handling fees and then after purchasing the handling fees now they are stating I can no longer return the item it can only be exchanged and I have to pay repair fees for the item. The inconsistency is absolute insanity and I just want to know if I'm the only one experiencing this or is this just a normal thing I honestly enjoyed the product but it's kind of deterring if I want to even proceed considering by the time I'm done paying all the extra money into it I could have just bought another one or a different ereader entirely.

I’m looking to satisfy my need for one of these, but I just can’t get a new one right now. Any place to pick up a cheaper one? I’m hoping for the 3.

I ordered this two days ago and its estimated arrival was originally the next day... then I got hit with this. I feel like I'm checking the shipping status several times a day!

Bought my x4pro on the 23rd. Supposedly delivered today by this speedx company but my blink doorbell isn't on the proof of delivery photos and the package they sent a pic of there shows something from Tiktok dated May 30.

Tried calling the delivery company and it hangs up immediately, reading reviews it seems they're notorious for this.

I emailed xteink and the speedx people but I assume I'm sol. I guess buyer beware. Won't be buying from the website again with that sort of craziness.

I was looking at a phone case on AliExpress, but then I thought, "Why not 3D print one?"

It looks pretty decent. I tried other colors, but in the end I preferred to make it all black.

Curious if xteink has been slow on shipping as of late? I decided to get a magnetic x4 pro case for my regular x4. Ordered 10 days ago (8/22) and got the “it’ll ship in 1-2 days email 8 days ago (8/24)

It says the specific color is still in stock as of today, so I’m not sure if it would be related to inventory?

I’m curious about it and didn’t see any video showing the games and gameplay…

Beside that how is it for reading?

I’m curious to hear specifically from people who have owned an Xteink X3 or X4 for a while and use it regularly or daily.
A lot of the Amazon reviews and Reddit posts I’ve found seem to be from people who have just received the device the honey moon phase? . That’s useful for first impressions, but I’m more interested in how these hold up after months of actual use.
If you’ve had yours for a while:
How long have you owned it, and how often do you use it?
Are the buttons still working and feeling solid?
Any cracks, separation, screen issues, or unusual wear?
Any battery or charging problems developing over time?
Have you had anything fail that required repair or replacement?
Overall, does it still feel like a device you expect to last?

I’m particularly interested because Xteink devices are still relatively new and haven’t gone through as many generations of refinement as something like a Kindle. I’ve seen scattered reports of broken buttons, cracks, and other durability issues, but it’s hard to tell whether those are genuinely common problems or just the failures that naturally get posted online.

I’m using an Xteink X4 running CrossInk, and I’ve noticed a weird issue with custom fonts.

The stock/built-in fonts render italic text correctly, but whenever I sideload a custom font, any words that are supposed to be italic just appear in the regular font style. I sideloaded them using the "file transfer" option btw.

Has anyone else run into this?

Is this because of the way the custom font is converted/packaged for CrossInk, or is there some setting I’m missing?

And most importantly, is there a way to fix it so custom fonts properly render Regular/Bold/Italic/Bold Italic styles?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙏😭
