I know the standard crit build is to go Kraken > Collector > LDR > IE > ShieldBow/GA but I really hate how having 1 attack speed item means that objective control and camp farming feels super slow. Also if you use your ult badly, it's hard to reposition or re-engage because your AS is so low as soon as HOB is used.
Objectively, I think replacing Collector with Fiendhunter is a much better build as your base attack speed is way higher and it provides useful stats like MS, Ult Haste and AS during ult. This build is equivalent in DPS with ult + HOB as the standard crit build but is much easier to play for those who are used to onhit build and having extra attack speed.
The build I am going is Kraken > Fiendhunter > IE > LDR > GA. The beauty of this build is that Fiendhunter synergises insanely with HOB and you can deal 3 auto attack instantly when ulting and alpha strike to one shot anyone who isn't a tank. This build is much cheaper too because Fiendhunter is such a cheap second item.
If you take fiendhunter, it is really important to replace alacrity rune with cut down or coup de grace as you don't need the extra 15% attack speed and the 8% bonus damage is so nice.

Feels like half the time I'm getting out ran by champions with just basic abilities even when im ulted full boots+hexplate. It just feels terrible being on top of someone with R unable to auto them as they walk away

I found this interesting.
So Ive been clicking thorugh my match history and then through my jungle oponents match histories. Every time I came across a master Yi player, they werent an OTP, just an occassional Yi player. I found this weird as I thought most Yi players otp cause whats the point, you need to understand this champ extremely well to climb imo.
I found that Master Yi OTP was like 1/10 Yi players.
What do y'all think ?

I've seen several higher elo Yi mains go for Rectrix when buying kraken components as opposed to double longsword when spending their 800ish gold.
In my mind - more ad, better clear, more damage, must be better.
In their mind - MS > 5AD?
When making this post I made the calculation and that 4% rectrix can actually increase MS by as much as a little over half-boots of speed, so it's certainly not insignificant.
Is that rly that good?

Straight up unplayable/100% loss rate applies to champs who I lose to even if I manage to build up an advantage against in early game. If I go 2/0 pre 6 against garen, he will still kill me. Tier list applies to when both champs are not played at a medicore level with similar skill level.
Explanations for a few of the picks:
Quinn: Should be easy in theory like all ranged matchups but idk she's one of the few people with enough tools to disengage my q I feel like without losing too much hp. I can usually beat her and she has to play better than me to beat me tbf but she's by no means free.
Swain: Another ranged matchup that's easy in theory but his poke is extremely good and I feel like he just out stat checks you. I've had alot of trouble against him.
Mundo: Listed as hard matchup but I've never had trouble against him, usually most mundos will try and contest wave, just walk up to auto him and if he throws cleaver animation starts just q behind him to take his hp. One of the easiest champs to poke under tower then q out of minions since he has no cc. In your R you ignore his cleaver slow so he can't even space you. IDK how mundo wins. Watchout when he ults under tower if you dive him, usually fine.
Mordekaiser: Q his q, small trade and back off, unless you mess up and get pulled back by e he has no counter play. Very very easy to dive under tower since no hard cc. When you have prio he can't build up w at all. You have prio in lane up to 6. At level 6 without minions he will win in his R but its pretty easy to get advantage early unless you mess up. You outscale him hard though if he gets a small advantage he can also bully you very hard in turn since when he has prio he will have w.
Tham kench: Tham kench favoured skill matchup imo level 1-6 but playable if you space well. After 6 becomes straight up unplayable.
Nasus: Usually viewed as free/easy which is true until level 6, however he is hard to dive due to wither greatly reducing your regular combo under tower which I'm not used to, and even if you do, I can't for the life of me gather enough of a lead early to match him after 6 + sheen + full armor. Just play darius into him.
Jax: I put this in playable if enemy unfamiliar with yi top but if both players are same skill it's extremely unplayable. So far my experience is: I first pick yi top, they have last pick, pick jax as counter pick then throw if I play perfectly since they e too late or don't reactivate it early enough.
Sett: Unplayable technically but you counter his regular gameplan (most setts hold their w for full grit bar) so alot of sett players will lose to you out of habit. If you can q out of minions after smoll trade, you win if he can't reach you with e to reengage.
Fiddle sticks: I had a single game against a fiddle sticks top. you can't intereupt his w, he stat checks you in melee range, infinite sustain, unplayable.
Kled: I've won every single early game against kled but he's surprisingly very hard to kill even late game, if he knows how to remount it's incredibly hard to kill him even when ahead.
Singed: let's you scale for free but you can't really fight him since he just walks away from you when you try to trade. Your ult does counter his throw into puddle though, play for late game and ignore him in fights usually works.
Darius: A competent darius destorys yi top (I was a darius main before I switched to yi top), in plat some darius will still let you get small trades but if he takes ghost he can absolutely run you down from level 1. Monster SSS perma bans him in high elo vids. However I have a 100% win rate against him rn due to combination of good jg ganking, stalling him, etc since you can q his q and outscale really hard once he panics.
Warwick: nearly unplayable if enemy unfamilar with yi top tier since he has very high sustain against small trades, but from personal experience I've managed to out space most of them and if you get a lead you can kill him.

Since patch 26.14, rageblade has been proccing its phantom hit on your 7th hit instead of the 6th one.
Besides that being a nerf for it overall, it is especially worse on Yi because it delays your second double strike by 1 hit too.
During all those weeks, we thought it was a bug since it was not documented on patch notes and Yi did not recieve any compensation for it, but it turns out it was actually intentional and they just forgot to put it, and rageblade Yi is nerfed since then.

hi there, so I saw the vamp boots having highest wr.
However I often find myself buying t2 boots quite late, at whcih point not sure whetehr omnivamp boots are still worth, or just opting for mercs when enemy has cc.
Whats the best appraoch?

hello. please tell me your opinions about this. what came up to my mind
1- make the auto go double strike if its ready, even if it goes off cooldown but if its casted
the reason for this is because when aa is casted, but double strike goes off your aa resets and goes back to one hit. i lost 2 1v1's because of this and it generally is annoying especially when clearing jungle.
2- fix the bug where your auto goes off and you can hear the sound, but it does not go off.
this does not consume any stacks or whatever. its just really annoying when you perfectly auto and kite and hear the sound but you dont actually hit. this happens a lot with double strike.
[BUFF]
1- extra AD scaling or base extra on his E. back then when E was ready and active you had extra AD. either just extra AD or just extra atkspd, like %10 %15 %20 %25 %30.
2- Extra damage reduction on W. a few years ago it was around %90. It was actually useful when tower diving, but now if youre gonna get 500 damage you just get roughly 300 damage and get executed regardless. since tower AD buffs are present diving with master yi is quite hard unless you got someone else to tank your hit.
3- reduce Q cooldown to 18 17.5 17 16.5 16 like it was before. now its 20 to 18.
note : these are what came up to my mind. ive been playing master yi for years but i am not a professional player or a challenger player. I peaked diamond like a few seasons ago and now hovering around plat/emerald. i am willing to discuss the things i mentioned. overpowered, no difference, less buff, etc.
in my opinion, the quality of life adjustments should be made. it would make yi feel more smooth and more reliable to play. the buffs however are mentioned because yi is at %48 winrate now and i just wanted to mention the previous state he was in.
I talked yesterday with Riot Feral Pony, Game director from League, and had a convo with him about the rageblade bug. As the screenshot shows, he mentioned about it to MLH (Phroxzon) and he said he'll look into it
Rageblade has been proccing the phantom hit on the 7th hit instead the 6th one since patch 26.14, when it was like that for YEARS. This needs to be addressed to be fixed or at least on-hit yi must be buffed to compensate.

Hey guys,
When I was climbing, commentary videos helped me the most. I always wanted to know what high-elo players think during the game.
So I made a video like that. It's a full Master Yi game around Master 300 LP. I talk through every single decision in real time: my pathing, tracking the enemy jungle, and team fights.
Also, if you spot any micro or macro mistakes, please tell me! I want to improve my own gameplay too, so any feedback helps.
Here is the video: https://youtu.be/xTRK646nTmg
Feel free to ask questions about jungle pathing or matchups in the comments. I'm happy to help out or make a video about it next.

Curious what the general opinion of Hydra - collector - LDR OR black cleaver and situational for boots last two items is. I used to main Yi in bronze/silver then went to briar into mid/high plat and whenever briar gets banned I’ll just go Yi with this build. The auto attack resets with W and titanic with the extra bit of tankiness from the health feels considerably better than the on hit builds. Lots of damage, clears fast, and with the extra bit of ability haste, I usually get fed pretty quick. But looking on lolalytics, it’s got a sub 48%(I think) win rate but it’s done me better than the other build paths

I am new playing yi ngl and I liked I lot because it is explosive + easy but I might not get the best build, rn I know about the nerf I usually go Kraken > Rageblade > boots and after whatever I need depending the team I am against but I can't make it better? For sustain and reset autoattacks like Top Master yi? (I play jg rn after 9 games with 75%wr)

I read everywhere that Rageblade was bugged so I mostly played the crit build but yesterday I had a four melee game so I played the Rageblade build with lethal tempo. I felt like in every second fight the Rageblade thing worked again the right way: auto, double auto. In the other 50% of the time it was again bugged so auto, auto, double auto. I wanted to ask you guys if there's a way to permanently have the non-bugged version or if you guys know more about it?

I want to climb and evolve with champion, but I dont have a cool streamer or youtuber to watch. And I dont like Sinerias, tbh
Thx!
What do you guys build 4th and 5th items?
I play hob crit because it seems the most consistent to me, I usually go kraken into collector into IE or ldr, after that do you continue to finish crit or build defensive?
So far I’ve just been picking whatever I didn’t take 3rd between Ie and ldr but I’m not aure if that’s correct path

The ONLY way u are a character on hec is if ur q is stacked and u are useless without full stacks, with yi its even harder bc it takes 7 fucking autos to be stacked and is lost instantly rather than one stack at a time lol

I've seen in the past some Yi players build Titanic hydra, is that good for a tankier Yi build, or is it better to go crit/on-hit and just build Shieldbow/DD?
