No fucking way anyone on the board said this to Tom Morris. It was only a month ago that Caro told us all that Nathan Buckley was the new coach of Tasmania. They’re all full of shit.

So you think Silvers comments above were a ringing endorsement of Nicks? I don’t.

They’re in line with his contract situation. He’s said as much as he can with a coach having one year on his contract.

This rally highlights the fact that AFL “journalists” can make up any old crap and get away with it.
It’s probably a realistic guess, but Morris should be framing it as an opinion rather than as if he has a source

I think internally a decision has been made. I’d go so far as to say unless he makes a prelim this year he’s out.
No issues with it, club needs to be pushing for a flag with this rebuild.

Totally agree, I think he’s done all he can and it’s time to move on. Hes done a good job getting us to where we are, but I honestly don’t think we’re going any further with him.

Agree I think his days are numbered internally… top four and winning a final was pass mark this year, missing top four now I think he has to make a prelim at minimum to keep his job and even then it may not be enough

Disgaree. Most experts saw this list as a 6-7th best this year. 1st last year was an easy draw and an overachieve. That being said, due to the nature of the straight sets finals exit last year a pass mark fo this year was always simply winning a final. Hence, if we lost Sat, you can see the argument and Nicks can't be seen as unfairly booted if he does walk.
Personally I think Nicks is some way down on our list of issues keeping us from competing. If people patience has grown thin with Nicks they should be baying for Van Berlo's head as midfield coach. That's where we lost the finals and we have been a massively worse side for losing James Rahilly in my opinion. I really think the right mix of coaches under Nicks (who is central to the culture rebuild) is the answer.
I find the idea that making a prelim with this list "may not be enough" laughable.

What because it's a reasonable balanced assessment instead of you clown autistically screeching for his head every time we lose?

The list is full of high class talent, we have more top 10 draft picks than Hawthorn as an example. He is not getting the best out of the sqiad

Complete nonsense. You can say utter vaguery like "full of high class talent" all you fucking like. At the start of the season the VAST majority of experts had us as the 6-7th best list. A few outlies had us as high as 4 and as low as 9.
Chayce Jones is a top 10 draft pick, does that make him good? There's top 10 draft picks all over the league who are barely AFL players. Find a better measurement big dog.

Picks mean fuck all.
Talent is all that matters. Brisbane, Sydney, Freo all have far better lists than ours so to suggest we were the next best when hawthorn and geelong exist is brain dead.

Typical Media from the Cheap seats … can’t get a story … manufacture one! Nothing to worry about with Tim Silvers at the helm! Not throwing the Baby out with the Bathwater just to satisfy Grubby Journalists with a Scoop!!!
Roll back under your Rock Tom Morris!

I’ve been thinking for a few weeks now that Adelaide could take out the big one this year.

Feels like whatever they say now is going to be written off as them covering themselves which is so annoying.
Also very annoying that all articles on this topic have talked about 7 years with no finals but fail to note that the first 3-4 years were pure rebuild. Compare us to teams like west coast and kangaroos who have been rebuilding for similar time frames and we are light years ahead with arguably less high end talent from the draft then both of them.
I think he has shown more than enough to at least see out his contract. If they decide to move on from him, then so be it. But just because the dees and blues have seen immediate improvement with a new coach doesn’t mean we will as well. It is a pure gamble and more often than not it takes a few years to get fully set with a new coach.

Why do we need to waste another 12 months on him? It’s the Adelaide Football Club not the Matthew Nicks Football Club, he will get paid out. You can’t keep wasting time on someone who isn’t good enough.
We’ve been waiting nearly 30 years for another flag, time to making a few tough calls.

You'd have a point t if Nick's had been coaching since 1999, but given he hasn't, you don't.

Just Vic BS trying to derail finals prep for the Crows. Another symptom of Wildfart round.

Is this news?
Surely anyone that has followed the club has known Nicks needs a finals win to keep his job this year. I’d say Nicks and the players are well aware. It’s why Nicks only got a 1 year extension despite finishing top last year. Writing has been on the wall ever since the straight set exit.
So the journos made an educated guess, started ringing the club for their take, and got hit with no comment.
And now the headline is ‘BOARD LEAKS TO MEDIA’.
The fuck?
Potting the club when this is how every news story hits the media and still the journos get 90% of it wrong.
Run with the story re Nicks is sacked if we lose. That’s fine. But the media grandstanding saying ‘I’ve been told… how could they tell us?!’ Is pretty nauseating.

Real or not Guy is under big time pressure now and if crows lose I don't think he can survive the media frenzy

It's a shame really because the rebuild process has resulted in a really solid team that can achieve when all systems are firing. Unfortunately, he just can't get us over the line and it's silly to put up with "Will he get another year" chat. Either he gets us through one or possibly even two finals or he goes. There really isn't much wriggle room left.
This is a guy who has had more time, more money and more excuses than any coach in our history. The time for results is now regardless of how bad it might feel to make that clear.

What if we cut Tom Morris hands off? He's not really using them for good. (///s for god's sake mods).

I don’t often agree with Nick Riewoldt, but it is a disgrace that someone in the board leaked this.
People act like he’s been an atrocious coach but he’s literally been a re-build coach.
Look at Alastair Clarkson, a 4 time premiership coach how he’s travelling at North.
