Won't stay logged in/Not getting alerts - Android

I just switched from iPhone to Android (Pixel) and can't seem to get any alerts from ADT. I've tried enabling push notifications from browser, from the app itself, and from my settings on my phone. It seems that every time I close the app I get logged out, but when I open it it quickly says "logging in" and logs me in. But in the in-between I am getting 0 alerts. Anybody know what might solve this?

New home owner

I’m closing on a townhome that has the safe haven compatibility. I’m wondering if $65 a month is worth it. I don’t have to pay the installation fee or the devices as the builder is covering that if I move forward. There’s also a $750 voucher I can add for things like smoke detector and carbon monoxide.

The month cost includes front door, back door and garage. As well as 4 window alarms, glass break notification. I am a single woman and considering it for peace of mind. But I want to know that thoughts. If you don’t suggest going through ADT then who do you recommend. Home security is a priority but also as a teacher and a new homeowner I’m try to save where I can.

Bought a home with ADT what are my options?

Just bought a home with ADT alarm. Previous owner owns the system outright. It has this panel, two exterior cameras, and sensors on doors and windows.

Home is 4 yrs old so I’m guessing it’s fairly new system.

My question is, can I use this system with another monitoring company? Looked thru Alarmgrid website and my panel is not on their list of supported panels.

I used to have Ring cameras and alarm at my other house and really liked it. I don’t think the ADT equipment will work with Ring?

From a reply earlier, it looks like this is ADT only equipment

So my options are to rip out this system if I want to go with another system?

ADT may be americas worst company!

I have a hard believing that in 2026 we’re still dealing with companies like this. Trying to cancel has been nightmare fuel as others have stated emphatically. I have a filed a BBB complaint and still can’t get my account canceled, predatory doesn’t begin to describe them. If anyone, and I hope many people do, come here looking for advice please for the love of the baby Jesus himself stay away from them. They are the worst company you could ever be involved with. I may have to actually have my lawyer handle this as they’re impossible!

WARNING - IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL

Canceling my ADT service has been a complete nightmare.

The website has literal fake instructions to cancel.

The AI will waste your time asking a ton of questions only to tell you you have to call to cancel.

But you have to call during a very specific window - business hours only.

Only to met with extremely long holds, and endless extremely invasive and personal questions about your new home security system.

When you ask them to stop asking questions, just cancel, they keep asking questions. I'm talking dozens of endless questions.

If you get extremely upset and ask them to stop asking questions, just cancel, they tell you they cant cancel they have to transfer you to a specialist who can cancel.

I'm talking literal days on end, hours of my life wasted.

Still on hold.

Well, the customer service rep must've lied

Hello, I purchased a home that had existing ADT services, including the panel and sensors. I inquired about my options. When I found out how pricey the monthly fee is, the customer service rep said he'd send me a $100 Visa Gift Card since I am technically, a returning customer. I said fine. Weeks later, no gift card. I called /chatted to find out the status of this gift card and was basically told that it did not exist, it was not in the contract and the best they could do was offer me an ADT sign and stickers. I'm understandably upset and have gone down a rabbit hole seeing that there are tons of complaints about ADT and their terrible customer service. Now I understand that you need to record all customer service calls and ask that every promise be made in writing. They seemingly don't care about customer service because they know that once you are locked into a 3 year contract, there is no recourse for their customers. I really wish I had done some research on other products, like Tapo, that offers basically the same services without the subscription fees. Look them up on Amazon!

Evening!

Recently moved into a property which is fitted with an ADT alarm system. Is there anyway to get this up and running without an ADT subscription?

There is a touch pad in the hall, sensors on the doors and a CCTV camera out front.

The details on the touch pad are:

Software version - 2.7.1

Build number - 20220519_sp1

Thank you!

Low Voltage Tech

New low voltage tech here. Next week will be my second week working and riding arou d with service techs shadowing them. But my manager still doesn't know what my role will actually be. There are three people who started with me and more coming in a few weeks. I accepted the job over a month ago how do they still not know what the job will fully be? I assume it will be similar to what I'm learning from the service techs but not the same? This is so confusing but also exciting lol

ADT SUCKS

They can hardly ever be reached when you have an emergency. Also if they do pickup they have horrible attitude. If you need same day assistance they will charge you extra $200 plus whatever it cost. I have HOA contract and A special number takes forever to get anyone. I am going to try and get my HOA to drop these people.

anyone ever try to cancel their service?

We set up an account for my elderly mother’s home 11 years ago. Today I have been trying to call to cancel because my mom has dementia and hasn’t been able to use the system for some time now.

I was on the phone for 2 hours and when they told me my mother would be charged $100 for a cancellation fee I lost it. The contract we had, had expired years before so they tried to go that route. How does a company get away with these tactics? I tried removing the credit card off the account and they restrict you from making any changes. I would advise anyone never to do business with this sleazy organization. I read if I put in a complaint with the BBB I might get some assistance. It’s very sad that it has to go to those extremes to get this resolved.

Any official statement from ADT on the cause of last week's outage?

Has there been any official statement from ADT about what caused the system-wide outage on Aug 12th? I got an email on the 13th stating the issue was resolved but no further information was shared. Seems crazy to me that a company which charges customers a fee for security monitoring can go down for hours and not provide more details about what happened. Did they find the root cause? Was it bad actors? I feel like if you're taking down millions of security systems you should at least tell us what happened!

Cannot Change Address with ADT Plus Self Setup

I called ADT Plus Customer support because I couldn't change my address online or in the app after relocating. I have the latest v5 self setup equipment and I choose to do self monitoring. The time zone and geofencing features wouldn't work properly because it was using the old address so I called to update. I was on the phone for over 1 hour and 20 minutes. During that time the first person I spoke with asked a bunch of useless questions and then tried to pester me to sign up for a 25 dollar a month tech support and then I had to wait forever to get account management on the line. (Thank goodness for the Pixel Hold-for-me feature because I actually needed it for this situation since I needed to get back to work)

When I get on the phone with account management they say they cannot change my address because my account is cancelled. Which, yes, the paid monitoring is cancelled so I can do self monitoring, which is a feature they allegedly support... So they had to basically create a new account for me just to change my address but this requires establishing a new monitoring service. So there is no way to change the address of the ADT self setup if you use self monitoring and relocate. While I can technically still use the equipment for notifications and arming, the fact that I am now feature limited over something so stupid is enough for me to be done with ADT altogether.

Buyer beware. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AVOIDING ADT no matter what. If you want to do DIY/self monitoring go with a different service.

To ADT, I don't understand how you can be running an efficient business when, I, a single customer with a simple change of address request, can occupy your telephone lines for over an hour.

For anyone who works as an ADT Low Voltage Technician, what is the job like? How much ladder work do you do? What are the ladder safety rules? Is the job hard physically? I would also like to know what a normal workday is like. Thank you!

ADT Control — has it always been this bad?

I’ve owned an ADT system across 4 different homes and three states. After a relatively recent home renovation I was convinced to “upgrade” to Control. After a $4000 install, the secondary IQP panel constantly loses connection. For the last month it is in constant “trying to reconnect” mode. Also, their customer service is a Chat Bot. And I’m expected to do all the troubleshooting?!? The panel is so bright we put a black t-shirt over it. And I literally get 20 emails a day. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any good alternatives in Los Angeles?

ADT has basically become SimpliSafe with shittier tech and better (misleading) marketing.

Price Objection ADT Mailing Address

I signed up for a 3 year contract in Mar 2024, I got my first price increase for about 5 dollars in AUG 2025 and mailed a certified price increase objection letter, letter was ignored and price was increased. Now in AUG2026 I see another price increase for about 6 dollars, what are all the mailing locations I can send my price objections letters? Life it’s busy enough already without having to worried about ADT tactics.

Monthly fee?

So I signed up for ADT and paid off all the equipment that was professionally installed for 4500 and then they charge $78 a month for just the monitoring service. I feel like that’s really steep for the amount we paid off where other monitoring services are a lot lower. I called them to see why I was being charged that much, and they said I was eligible for a promotion that would bring it down to 45-50 a month. What is everyone else paying for the monthly? At this point I’m conceding canceling and going back to my previous provider. To add I do not have any cameras through them, just door/window sensors and smoke/CO alarms.
