Rumour / Leak Rumour/Leak Megathread

It seems the whispers from the aetheric void are back and so we are going to continue to have everyone post the rumours/leaks here to avoid screenshots of TGA forums taking over the subreddit.

Any rumour mongering not in this thread will be removed.

Hobby I painted Gobsprakk, The Mouth of Mork for my friend

Something a little different for me! This is my first Age of Sigmar model, and I painted it for a friend who wanted a big centerpiece model for his collection.

There were a lot of new experiences on this one that really let me stretch my usual boundaries and workflows. I normally paint small sci-fi models in vibrant chromatic colours where I've never found washes or airbrushes particularly helpful. This was a gigantic model, fantasy themed, all organic, earth tones galore, and absolutely packed with detail. For the first time in a long time I made heavy use of my airbrush and oil washes for actual painting, not just priming, and it was actually a big help instead of leaving me with a big mess to clean up afterwards. It was the first time I felt like I really understood what Marco Frisoni means when he says to work from the general to the specific.

I used so many different techniques and products to get this painted. Airbrushing, underpainting, speed/contrast paints, oil washes, normal acrylics, gouaches, gloss mediums, matte varnishes, big brushes, small brushes, brushes that climb on rocks. You get the picture.

This took a good long while. I've got no idea how Marco can paint something like this in like five hours. This was the first time I've ever painted the exact same model from one of his videos, and I think I ended up taking five times longer than he did. That guy is a wizard!

Anyways, I hope my friend enjoys his centerpiece!

Discussion Am I the only one thinking this could be for Khazalid Holds?

I think it’d be cool if the Holds took a more primal approach to dwarves. Wouldn’t mind it being Kislev for TOW though

Discussion If GW gave AoS its own Naval Combat system, do you think you (+ other people) would play it?

The thought occurred to me the other day, and I was curious on what other people's thoughts were on this.

I would be open to giving it a try. Naval Combat in Fantasy is a severally underrated, and with the wacky nature of the realms if could make some some exciting set-ups. Plus, for those who enjoy giving their armies plenty of lore, being able to have your own fleet in addition would open up some fun opportunities for additional lore building!

I suppose one of the big problems with it (besides whether or not folks would play it) would be creating an appropriate range of vessels for each faction.

40k has the advantage where there is a lot of uniformity between the different branching factions when it comes to ship design language, AoS factions meanwhile tend to be more individualistic when it comes to aesthetics, even within the same Grand Alliance. I doubt every single Faction would get something, but there's a decent amount of ground to cover.

Question Primer for orruk armor?

Upvotes

So I’m redoing my orruk mega boss and I’m planning on making his armor red should I just go with a red primer and if so would the green skin not come out so good or should I just go with wraithbone primer? Follow up question if I go with the wraithbone primer should I paint the armor Baal red or Mephiston red?

Question Question about gameplay of certain factions

Hey all :>

So, I've never played AoS and just stuck with 40k instead. Some of my friends are getting into AoS though, and I figured I might go for a single army to be able to play with them.

I had a look at some of the lore of the different factions and the models, and feel like I might go for either Idoneth Deepkin, Soulblight Gravelords or the Flesheater Court.

Unfortunately I don't actually know how they play, so from a gameplay perspective, what are those three factions all about? How are they in battle, what are their main tactics? How about staying power vs. glass cannons? Are there 40k factions that are roughly comparable?

And while on the topic of armies: Which faction would be the most economical in terms of money spend on models?

Thanks a lot :>

Hobby Recommendations for really nice hobby nippers?

Wanting to try and upgrade my old work down clippers for some nice new ones. I've heard of god hands but I've heard you're not supposed to use them to actually clip parts off the sprue and need to cut them off the sprue with other ones first, and frankly I'm not spending 60+ dollars on a tool I can't use the way I want.

Question Is the Ogor Mawtribes – Scrapglutt Spearhead really that bad?

I play several different Spearheads, and one of them is the Ogor Mawtribes - Scrapglutt. So far I've only played it once, and I haven't even painted it yet.

I mostly play casually with a group of friends, and my best friend only plays Skaven Spearheads, so I'm wondering how Scrapglutt actually holds up in regular games.
I'm honestly a little discouraged from painting the army and properly learning how to play it because almost everything I find online seems to say that Scrapglutt is incredibly weak.
I'm definitely not someone who needs to win every game. I enjoy narrative games, memorable moments, fun interactions and generally just having a good time. I really don't mind losing.
That said, I also don't really want to invest a lot of time into learning and painting a Spearhead if I'm going to lose almost every game simply because the army is massively underpowered.

So... is Scrapglutt really that bad?
It would be a shame, because Hrothgorn’s Mantrappers is visually and mechanically one of my favourite models. I also really like the flavour of the Spearhead in general. Things like being able to eat Gnoblars to heal just feel incredibly Ogor-y and fun.
And honestly, I love the Scraplauncher too. It's such a ridiculous and characterful model.

The problem is that whenever I search for opinions about this Spearhead, I mostly find people talking about how weak it is.
I know that a lot of those discussions are from before the errata, where half of the Ironguts are now on the board from the start, so I'm not sure how much of the older criticism still applies.

For those of you who have actually played Scrapglutt recently: how does it feel now?
Is it still noticeably weaker than most Spearheads, or is it more of a case of being difficult to play but still perfectly capable of having close, fun games once you understand it?
I'd especially love to hear from anyone who has played it into Skaven regularly.

I took on this commission project when this box dropped in early August. I don't super love Age of Sigmar, I'm a 40k nerd myself but these models were objectively super fun and cool to paint
