Discussion i genuinely HATE pros, but not in the way you think

Post image
0 Upvotes

firstly, i am a pro

secondly, this is about pros in relation to art ON THIS SUB. idgaf if you're a pro who goes and claude codes all day or hell makes good shit with higgsfield

no, i am not making the boring argument of liking ai excluding ai art (that would be karmafarm)

i specifically hate the pros for who they are not what they do sorta

like oh my god they have the most ASS prompts and filthiest ai gen art ever like idc if its ai just make it look good go buy a higgsfield subscription and stop using chatgpt like PLEASE at least use gemini your stuff is disgusting and visually unappealing its not the AI's fault its YOUR fault for being so ass at using it ur undermining your own cause

good ai art exists but it sure as fuck doesnt on this sub oh my god the skill floor is so fucking low

also the fuckers with math symbol eyes stuff and catgirl/orc shit is so cringe please just debate like normal people this is not an anime battle with lore, stop digging up stuff from people's pasts like weirdos

as for the antis uh hi i have words but the post isnt about you so you can sit down

as for people gonna ad hominem me i do art without ai since i cant draw excluding on paper because my hands wobble so i need the friction to hold a pencil, but i still think some ai art is nice. and yes im not ass at art i did this shit for years before ai

image unrelated but images draw attention plus its funny

Discussion Just this once pros/antis?

I think we can unite behind the simple reality that the AI slop menus at restaurants are horrific and if they weren't so comical we would rail against them as false advertising. Also anyone whose workplace used forkable knows what's up.

And fact that some of you honestly believe that this is only "1 small" case is genuinely disgusting. Because it im not mistaken doesn't ai have to be feed data to reproduce it. Which inturn means ai is actively being feed the data to create cp

Discussion UE5 Expert explaining why DLSS5 is NOT GenAI

Post image
18 Upvotes

He is %100 right. For something to be GenAI, it needs to generate something new from thin air. It doesn't make anything up from thin air. That's also why its very consistent %85 of times and doesn't include input lag like Frame Gen.

Can all the Anti AI biased crowd stop crying over something literally optional now?

Discussion Hot take: AI art will usher in the age of real art.

Post image

Even without AI, art has never been financially viable for the vast majority of people. And once money enters the equation, a lot of art gets compromised. We’ve all seen the pattern: people start making art for a living, only to end up hating the very thing they used to love.

That’s also why so many artists leave major companies and go independent. But even as an indie creator, the pressure of production costs is very real. Which is why you sometimes get the absurd spectacle of artists loudly opposing AI while using generative AI to help them code their own projects.

AI can drive production costs down dramatically and give people the freedom to create without constantly worrying about whether their art will pay the bills.

No more gatekeeping. No more crushing financial pressure just to make something.

And if you’re a 17-year-old aspiring DeviantArt warrior about to reply, “But artists deserve to get paid,” consider this first:

AI or no AI, you probably weren’t going to be able to make art your full-time career anyway.

Statistically, the odds were already overwhelmingly against you.

Discussion Stop supporting owning AI CSAM

I'm not trying to start a fight and drama here. I'm not trying to karma farm either. I'm just expressing how mad I am. AI CSAM is disgusting. It should be illegal to possess it. AI CSAM is just as bad as real CSAM. I see too many users on here supporting owning AI CSAM. You know many AIs out right ban CSAM and block the creation of it. Saying it's fictional is no excuse to defend something so disgusting. People that defend owning AI CSAM are Pedophiles. Stop using it's fictional so it hurts no one excuse to do something that should be illegal. No one else is calling out these people so I wanted to be the first to do so. Owning AI CSAM will just lead someone to actually wanting real CSAM. AI CSAM can still cause harm because if someone sees it and they have gone through CSAM of themselves it can trigger trauma. It's not free speech to protect Pedophiles. People that support thie should have their hard drives and other things searched. Pedophiles shouldn't have a safe space at all for their harmful fantasies.

Generative AI tools do not create images out of thin air; they require training on billions of internet files. Independent safety audits have discovered real abuse imagery embedded inside major open-source datasets. Generating and possessing this content directly incentivizes and normalizes data models built on actual victims. Photorealistic AI depictions are virtually indistinguishable from real photos. When law enforcement recovers thousands of photorealistic files, investigators must spend vital time and resources analyzing whether a depiction is synthetic or an actual child in immediate danger who needs rescue. Predators routinely use AI-generated imagery as a tool to groom minors, desensitize victims, or mask real-world abuse during criminal investigations. Allowing a market or possession of synthetic CSAM creates tools that predators use to manipulate, blackmail, and groom real children. AI generation is not completely disconnected from real children. To produce realistic outputs, models depend on vast training sets that have repeatedly been found to contain real abuse images scraped from the web, meaning synthetic material relies on real-world exploitation to exist.

Research in forensic psychology shows that access to synthetic abuse material does not satisfy or eliminate harmful impulses; instead, it can escalate interest, lower psychological barriers, and desensitize individuals to real-world harm.

Discussion Isn't Anti-AI just Pro-Human?

Post image
82 Upvotes

Calling people Anti-AI misses the point of the stance. Most are simply Pro-Human. Most people would agree AI should enhance human creativity, agency, curiosity, and well-being rather than get in the way of those qualities as it often does in its current state. It goes without saying, humans should be in control of how the technology is developed and used not the other way around where the technology drives of how people view and maintain themselves. AI is an impressive technological advancement. It doesn't need anyone to advocate for it, the innovation speaks for itself.

What concerns me is seeing a handful of people have seemingly resigned themselves to letting AI replace critical thinking, the ability to self-reflect, artistic curiosity, guidance and mentorship, and/or basic problem-solving capabilities. From what I'm seeing it's an oddly selfish endeavor, but everyone is entitled to their own pursuit of happiness. Do what you want, but don't think anyone is just going to blindly follow along with this idea of “machine is better” being some kind of new foundation of civilization.

Here's a loosely related drawing:

My boyfriend used AI to apologize. Is outsourcing emotional honesty to AI crossing a line?

I was already hurt, but finding out that his apology came from AI somehow made everything worse.

I didn’t need him to say the perfect thing. I didn’t even need a long apology. I just wanted to hear him. His actual thoughts, in his actual words.

Instead, I got this polished message that said everything an apology is supposed to say, and now none of it means anything to me. I can’t tell what he genuinely feels and what was just generated because it sounded right.

And honestly? It killed whatever part of me still wanted to forgive him.

Maybe that sounds harsh, but if you can’t even speak for yourself when you’ve hurt someone you claim to love, what exactly am I supposed to forgive?

Discussion As a researcher, I refuse to use Google. Automating the boring parts is cheating

I keep seeing people argue it's fine to let AI handle the "mundane" parts of their workflow. Absolutely not. Automating the boring parts is cheating

That's why I don't use Google. Letting some clanker sift through millions of pages for me? Lazy. Inaccurate. Disrespectful to the craft

Instead, I do research the honest way. I walk to the library, pull the card catalog, and flip through books by hand. Does it take three days instead of three seconds? Yes. But I earned that citation. When I cite a source, I know its Dewey Decimal number personally

People say "but the boring parts have no creative value, they're just time sinks." Exactly. That's the point. If a task is mundane and soul-crushing, that's how you know it's building character. The suffering IS the craft.

My colleagues finish literature reviews in an afternoon with search engines and databases. Sure. And I finish mine in six weeks with a bad back and a library fine. Who's the real researcher?

TLDR; If you use Ctrl+F you're not a scholar, you're a fraud

Discussion Whats your story for converting to your side?

Ill go first.

When i first heard about ai, i thought it was really cool and was prepared to buy almost anything that was ai related until I was educated on the stealing art, which them got me into a neutral ground with more of a distaste for ai, until I heard about how its effecting the environment and ruining peoples health for the data centres nearby. The people that had ai girlfriends seem weird to me, but to each there own. However, i became really anti ai when i heard ai companies advertising products that were supposed to achieve a task, but when people used it for that task and got done over and the ai companies claimed innocence and shifted the blame, i really didnt like that.

I wanna hear both sides btw because I think it'll be an interesting topic

Edit: this has mostly turned into people saying im wrong, which defeats the whole purpose of this post. Im gonna leave it up, but i want to hear your reasons, not be corrected, nor have other people be corrected by opposite parties (both pros and antis)

Discussion Ai is fucking awful, period.

Upvotes

Now that I got your attention hear me out.

Do I think generating images with a prompt is stealing? No, who's to be offended. I personally don't give a single shit. that's like being mad your YouTube algorithm is giving you videos that you don't like or something.

Do I think that downloading someone's art and asking AI to do something to it is stealing? Yes (without permission but when will an artist ever give permission for that)

Do I think Ai is soulless? For me at least. I strive to draw because I'm proud that I made something cool like that, and I can be proud that I made something that's real to me. Using Ai robs me of this feeling.

Ai art thieves are the scum of the earth and those people you call anti-ai (specifically the ones that say you should pick up a pencil but don't even try at all to motivate you) are aswell. It's just foolish

Yeah yeah I'm not really talking about ai energy or stuff trying to avoid that but... I also hate businesses that utilize ai and let go of their best employees because of it. I feel like I'm eating American mcdonalds whenever I use their product.

So what do you think? It's discussion time I guess.

Discussion My thoughts on AI as of now (image not related at all)

Post image
1 Upvotes

So from what i have been seeing, the whole 'ai ragebait' thing is dumb. We have people attacking the other side just because they don't agree, ogreposting, and intentional triggering of a person. I thought AI was meant to be a tool (omg metal band mentioned), which it is, but it's being used more so to anger and replace. I see less of the latter though and it's somehow even more concerning. I am against automation of work but it's even more concerning when it's creating stuff of no value when automation of work does SOMETHING useful at least.

Now onto something more serious: the first amendment thing. disgusting. I'll leave it at that. Enough of that onto the FLOCK cameras. I hate them, you hate them, they suck. This country is meant to be the land of the free, not the land of the watched. To close off, AI is not that advanced and ready yet to replace everything and should be used as a tool.
