Announcement Announcement 8/9/26

Hello All,

I have spoken to the other moderator and we’ve touched base on a few things going forward.

We have put into effect new rules and I encourage you all to review them.

User flairs and post flairs are now available, and users are encouraged to use them to not only make it easier for the mods to do things, but also help anyone in the subreddit find what they might need.

There are a few things I’d like to do going forward listed below:

•A FAQ page

•Subreddit Banner (The image across the top of the Subreddit, see r/BullBreeds for an example)

•Further rules and guidance

  1. For the FAQs you’re allowed to comment below and you have no limit on the amount you’d like to put forward. Not only that, if you know the answer and/or have sources to draw from for an answer, it is encouraged that you comment that as well. Going forward, this won’t just be a space for purebred owners, it’ll be a space to showcase the breed as a whole to those looking to become involved or those who simply want to learn more about the breed or even their own dogs.

  2. An honorary banner for the subreddit. This would again be similar to r/BullBreeds, a larger overarching subreddit I created and moderate not just for American Bulldogs but for all bull breeds and most mixes thereof. Contained in this banner will be a few historical American Bulldogs, but I would love to incorporate some of YOUR AMERICAN BULLDOGS in the banner as well to be the FACE OF THIS COMMUNITY. Now that images in comments are allowed, I ask any of you who wish for your dog to be in the banner comment below with a good front on or quarter-shot of your American Bulldog. A lucky few will be incorporated.

  3. Please review the new and refined rules. If there are ANY ISSUES, please comment below so we can address them.

I think things are off to a great start and I look forward to seeing this community come together and prosper on Reddit. Thank You!

Announcement New Moderation

Hello all,

Due to inactivity the previous moderation must have been removed and/or they stopped moderating. Either way, a mod request was made and two of us answered. I’d like to introduce myself as the moderator of r/APBTCentral, r/AmericanBullyCentral, and r/BullBreeds. I have not spoken to the other moderator quite yet, as I am pressed on time currently and writing this post in a rush.

With that said, I don’t intend on being the mod here forever, I will however try to steer this subreddit into the right direction with new rules and mod tools. After I feel as the course has been corrected I will screen for a new mod team to enforce the rules and hopefully make this subreddit much better than it had been before.

I am open to suggestions currently, and will use this post as a way to gather these suggestions. Any ideas for ANYTHING pertaining to the topic of this subreddit, feel free to comment. I will be sure to take it all into consideration and weigh what will be best to be instituted within this subreddit.

In the meantime, please act with consideration and respect to one another as we remodel this subreddit, with no rules we only ask you to follow the Reddit guidelines and don’t post anything unrelated to American Bulldogs. Anything else will be removed.

Thank you all for any suggestions or understanding. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Question 2 puppies from same litter

Hi Reddit. I'm getting my new puppy at the end of September. I really want 2 puppies but when I looked up having 2 from the same litter it's saying it can be hard because they get to attached to one another and it's suggesting getting the second dog a little later. Can you guys send me your advice on this? Also if you think the 2 puppies from the same litter is ok, do you have any advice for me. Thanks

Pain Tolerance in AB?

Post image
86 Upvotes

Hi guys!! Adding a pic of my baby at the end, her name is Onion. ❤️ for reference, We were told Onion is an American Bulldog Mix (estimated now to be around 3-5 & female) we found her on the side of the road as a stray and kept her. But I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this with American bulldogs, (I've had plenty of dogs before & different breed dogs) but never an American bulldog and her pain tolerance is insane to me, so I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this with their AB or if it's just from her past trauma on the streets that toughened her up lol. She is extremely dog reactive/aggressive (so she is muzzled on walks due to irresponsible owners in our neighborhood), but a pitbull about half her size got out yesterday and gave her some pretty good puncture wounds. I cleaned them, but one was under her armpit and due to the location was swelling bc of movement/sweat/etc. so we took her to the vet for it. Long story short she's ok, but the vet even asked me about her pain tolerance because he said he told his colleagues "this dog feels no pain!" We have stepped on her tail before, accidentally opened doors right on her noggin, she's roughed herself up, etc. and I've NEVER heard her cry in pain. The only time I've ever heard her "whimper" is when she was on day 2 of heartworm treatment (to remove them) and we were told it was an extremely painful process but she only whimpered for a second when my boyfriend was picking her up and I think grabbed her in the wrong spot. So sorry for the ramble, lol, but I'm just wondering if this is an AB common trait or just a her thing?? Thanks guys!!

Dorothy was my gateway American bulldog. She passed this summer, there is really nothing like them.

Gorgeous 2yo brindle Willa A1910786 is on the EU list at BARC Shelter in Houston Tx for 8/17@1pm. Willa is incredibly sweet &wonderful, deserving of a long life outside the shelter ❤️ she can be locally fostered, rescued, or adopted in/out of state and into Canada

Help Finding Breeder

Post image
29 Upvotes

Hi! I know this is a total long shot, but I just lost my American Bulldog on 7/30 and wanted to track down his breeders to eventually get another puppy from them when I'm ready.

I got him from a lady, who bought him directly from the breeder. It was almost 11 years ago, so the details I have are SEVERELY limited, which makes it way harder.

Here are the details I know:

- 1: I have one picture of my dog's parents and who I'm assuming is their breeder kneeling between them (his face was always cropped out of the photo).

- 2: My dog's liter was born December 2015.

- 3: The lady I bought him from said the breeder was from Texas. I acquired my dog in southern Louisiana March 2016.

- 4: My dog's parents were UKC registered, the lady I got him from had started filling out the registration paperwork, but never finished before selling him to me. I live in Illinois and we lost his registration paperwork in the drive back, so he was never registered under my name either.

- 5: I found him on Craigslist, don't remember the name of the woman I bought him from, and would have no way of contacting her to ask about the breeder.

Please let me know if you recognize the dogs, breeder, or house. Any information would be helpful. Thank you!

Edit: I am not looking to adopt. I want a dog specifically from MY DOG'S bloodline.

His birthday is on August 23. He’ll be 10. Last week, he went out on a boat for the first time in his life…and he decided that Grandpa’s “convertible water car” was the pretty awesome. He never ceases to amaze me with how he just takes everything in stride. And with every passing day, I love him more and more. I keep telling him that he has to live forever. They broke the mold when they made Sir Kevin.
