Can we talk about the stadium staff that makes game day happen? I hope they get better treatment under kroenke last time I went to a game staff morale seemed low

I want to put baseball aside (which was atrocious and has been well documented). But I also want to highlight some serious issues with the organization that are inexcusable:

1) The Skaggs Death and Lawsuit: Tyler Skaggs died because they let a known drug dealer and drug abuser, who was known for sleeping with interns while married remain employed at the organization.

Rather than settling this matter, the organization decided to have an extensive lawsuit that highlighted bullying in the locker room and requiring our franchise player (Trout) to provide very embarrassing testimony. At trial, the Angels also admitted they paid Eric Kay’s legal fees.

The foreman of the jury for this case said they were issuing damages more than $100 million before it settled. Lord knows, how much this matter ended up settling for.

2) FBI Federal Corruption Case re Angel Stadium

Moreno agreed to buy Angel Stadium for $150 million cash. Then the Anaheim Mayor pleaded guilty to providing the Angels with confidential negotiating information to the Angels so the angels could use it in negotiations and obtain favorable terms.

The mayor was secretly recorded saying he expected the Angels to provide $1 million for his reelection campaign after the stadium sale went through.

Arte was trying to cheat the city of Anaheim. He didn’t care about giving the city of Anaheim and good faith residents a good faith price for its stadium. He was trying to cheat the system.

This killed the stadium sale. And meant the angels couldn’t develop the parking lot for revenue for the team. Just a waste. At best, bad business. At worse, slimy gross and disgusting business practices cheating the city of Anaheim.

3) Anaheim Angels

Arte spent $4 million in legal fees fighting the city of Anaheim regarding the angels changing their name to the Los Angeles Angels.

4) minor league conditions

In 2021, Angels minor leaguers described players sleeping in cars, packing six or seven players into small apartments and struggling to afford adequate food. An advocacy organization said accounts from Angels players were among the most disturbing it had encountered in baseball.

Pitcher Kieran Lovegrove publicly blamed Moreno, arguing that ownership was failing to provide an environment conducive to developing players. GM Perry Minasian responded that the conditions described were unacceptable and promised changes.

5) angels facilities

For years, the Angels had a reputation for operating ESPN reported that, at one point, the Angels estimated their own player-development technology was 10–15 years behind the rest of baseball. Their Dominican complex was described as dilapidated, without air conditioning and with poor food, and MLB reportedly threatened to shut it down.

Let’s not forget that the clubhouse didn’t have AC last year too causing Kikuchi cramps.

Friends, fans, fellow sufferers, lend me your ears; I come to bury Arte, not to praise him. The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones; So let it be with Arte.

But before he goes- and he deserves everything he gets as he walks away- I do want to note that Arte's first half dozen years were- by a comfortable margin- the best the Angels ever had. After 2003 it looked like we were headed back to the same old Angels.. but then Arte took over, spent big,and the spending paid off huge. The 2004 Vladdi season is something that should never be forgotten.

And so the rest of the decade. From 2004- 2009 the Angels were as good a squad as there was in the game and Arte was a healthy piece of that. They won a lot, were very talented, and played an incredibly exciting brand of baseball (a style not really seen since.)

To be sure- in true Angels fashion- it descended into tragedy and the last decade and a half has been a legit horror show. But they were very good and a lot of fun to watch and I want to thank Arte for that. It is time to go, but on your way, thank you. For a time, it was a lot of fun.

Are you going to switch to the Rams or become a new Rams fan? It would not be a bad year to be a Rams team with the team they got this year 👀. Superbowl ring or bust. That will hopefully be 2 championship titles as the LA Rams in 4 years and a total of 3 championships since Stan bought the team.

Why did they even do that in the first place?

I admit I only became a fan when the Rams moved back to LA but as an Orange County guy I always respect the Rams association with the Angels going back to the Rams playing at Angels Stadium for about 15 years
