What a delightfully old-fashioned feeling romantic adventure story. Sometimes "old-fashioned" can be a very good thing -- as it was here. Direct, sincere, thoughtful, wholesome.
Anna and Nonna and Jeff have had hard times separately -- but now they are together -- and off on their way to Not-China. It is lovely how Nonna delights in calling Anna and Jeff "mother" and "father" -- and it is pretty clear that this "found family" should be rock-solid.

1st season recap episode

Should be on KADOKAWA Anime Channel if Crunchyroll doesn't simulcast it.

Huh, didn't realize this was only 9 episodes. Feel like I can't think of a TV episode that was this short (without being a 6 episode half-cour anime) before.
7
u/Ok-Cod5254 7h ago
Medalist S2 was 9 episodes (with the next part for a movie) and Frieren S2 was 10 episodes, both this past winter season in 2026.
5
u/Frontier246 6h ago
I wonder if it was purely because they felt they only needed 9 episodes to adapt it or they could only afford to do 9 episodes.
10
u/dhui1996 6h ago
They only adapted the first volume of novel, so they might think 9 episodes is all they need.
But to be honest, the last few episodes are a bit rushed and it could definitely benefit with one more episode
3
u/Dylangillian https://myanimelist.net/profile/dylangillian 5h ago
Considering we have a S2 announced, probably the former for adapting a single Volume. I do hope S2 can maybe keep a more consistent animation quality though.

u/Calwings x3https://anilist.co/user/Calwings 7h ago
The only other one I've seen is Black Rock Shooter (the 2011 anime, not the more recent Dawn Fall) which was 8 episodes. I've seen a few others that were 10 episodes too.

There are a few but really not too many.

u/runevault 6h ago edited 6h ago
Normally 10 is the baseline (new GitS is going to be 10 for example, also 2nd cour of CinGrey was 10).
3
u/reaperow 6h ago
Still feels pretty weird to see it only have 9 episodes, i mean I get why they did that
1
u/Deep-Presentation558 6h ago
In that case, if interested in short series check out Takopis Original Sin. I do feel like I should give a warning though.

u/Intelligent_Form5743 7h ago
Aye man nonna has grew up so much in a short time it’s amazing at the end it was pure beautiful she told her she knew she was abandoned and haven’t thanked her what a class young girl and of course Jeff is amazing this episode he asked Anna to be his wife and nonna to be his daughter stand up guy W finale I guess 9 episodes was enough
9
u/Frontier246 7h ago
Nonna blossomed as a mature young girl with powerful tomboy vibes.
Anna learned that even if you lose everything and seemingly have the world against you, you can still have it all and be happy.
Jeffrey recovered from losing one love of his life to securing the new love of his life and becoming the best husband/dad a mother-daughter pair could ask for.

Wholesome episode and a beautiful wrap for season 1, can't wait for season 2
This series was so much better than my expectations
20
u/runevault 6h ago
Season 2 already confirmed makes watching this episode so much happier, knowing I'll get more of these characters.
Victoria telling Jeff her real name, Anna Dale, is so beautiful. Both because she can utter it to someone again, but because he can know how much she trusts him despite fleeing.
Oh wow Jeff's dad was a real piece of shit. And such abuse can easily lead to either a cycle of abuse across generations or turning one into the most gentle person, Jeff is the latter.
I'm so glad I gave this show a chance.
3
u/Frontier246 6h ago
If he's going to love her, he deserves to love her and know her as her most authentic self with her real name. Plus since he's not a captain any more, she can finally call him by his name as well. They are truly a couple now.
Honestly puts a new perspective on Jeffrey's mom being all out on her own aside from when she gets visited by her kids knowing what her husband put their family through.

Lip sync off for anyone else? Anyways kind of a shock to realize this is season finale. Regardless such a surprise hit for me. Glad to hear we getting a S2
3
u/ShzMeteor 4h ago
Lip sync off for anyone else?
Its not synced properly. The audio needs to be delayed by about 200 ms.
2
u/Ocixo https://myanimelist.net/profile/BuzzyGuy 4h ago
The JP VAs don’t always make an effort to time their lines with the lip flaps, but it was noticeably - not a whole lot - off the mark for most of the episode.
Almost has me think that the VAs just recorded their lines without any visual clues, because of the time crunch, and the animators just had to make things work afterwards. But maybe it was CR’s fault after all.

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 7h ago
Wait... FINAL? I was thinking things were too good to be true and something terrible was about to happen. But no it's the finale and we all got a happy ending!
5
u/Frontier246 6h ago
I kind of feel bad for the people in Ashbury that Anna left behind as Victoria who might never see her again now that she can't really go back, but at least they would probably want Anna and Nonna to be happy as they with Jeff.
2
1
u/Evil_sod 6h ago
I had the exact same thought. I was expecting a few more episodes and wondering how it could go wrong, then I saw FINAL on this and I'm now both relieved and disappointed.
Such a great finale. Nonna was adorable throughout, and Jeff and Anna got the happy ending they deserved (Nonna did too, obviously).
12
u/Calwings x3https://anilist.co/user/Calwings 7h ago
This was a cute show. It wasn't anything super special, but it was a nice, enjoyable story about found family. I'm guessing that the source material probably goes farther and has Victoria (or rather, Anna) face more troubles due to her past life, but since I assume we're not getting another season, I think we got a perfectly fine ending with Jeff, Anna, and Nonna living together happily ever after. I also appreciate that the studio picked the exact right amount of episodes to cover the material instead of trying to stretch the story into a standard 12-episode cour. Overall, I'll give this show a 7.5/10.

5
u/Frontier246 6h ago
I would definitely expect Anna to get into more spy shenanigans in a foreign nation as the wife of what is effectively a diplomat.
12
u/Ok-Cod5254 6h ago
It was a short season of 9 episodes but at least there is more to come. Hopefully the production team can improve and not let quality drop as much.
Enjoyed this found family of Anna, Jeff, and Nonna. Nonna is easily one of the best kid characters in anime. Wish there was more found family shows like this.
13
u/KumaKumaGambler 7h ago
Vicky (now Anna), Nonna and Jeffrey finally found the family they needed and will protect at all costs.
I would love to see a 2nd season. Due to the plot, Jeffrey has mostly been a bystander. I am sure all of us want to watch the entire family go on an adventure together!
6
4
u/Frontier246 6h ago
I hope we get to see Anna and Jeffrey kiss next season now that they're a full-blown married couple (even if we didn't get a wedding).

u/thisisdropd https://myanimelist.net/profile/AsterZoro 6h ago
You’re in luck! A second season has been announced.
2
u/startingfromlevel0 4h ago
I glad vicky, nonna and Jeff found happiness. All three of them deserve it after what they went through
10
u/Radi-kale 7h ago
That was cute <3 Although I am secretly a little disappointed I won´t be hearing her call her Vicky anymore
5
u/Frontier246 7h ago
Honestly wonder if they'll retitle season 2 "Anna of Many Faces" otherwise the title will just feel really outdated lol.
3
u/mekerpan 7h ago
No way that Nonna is going to abandon use of "okaa-san" -- and Jeff is happy to call her Anna (or whatever) so long as she is his wife.
2
u/MysteriousCodo 4h ago
Yeah, Nonna is no longer using it as something to call her besides Vicky. She truly believes that Anna is the woman that is her mother.
12
u/thisisdropd https://myanimelist.net/profile/AsterZoro 6h ago
Nonna had been calling Vicky (now Anna) Mum the whole time. It’s lovely to see her embracing her new family. To add icing to the cake, she’s now got a dad in Jeffrey.
It’s also great that both Anna & Jeffrey spilled all their secrets before they became a couple so that as newlyweds they no longer had anything to hide from each other.
The finale sounded like it would wrap everything up and it’d be the end of this series but turned out a second season has immediately been greenlit. We’ll get more of this sweet trio, this time as an official family. Can’t wait for that!
3
u/Frontier246 6h ago
Also good on Edward for being a good brother and brother-in-law to give Anna a pass for her spy past and crimes so she can be there for his brother.
10
u/Past_Distribution144 6h ago
Finally, they reunite! And c'mon Nonna, all that secrecy/disguise stuff she taught you and just throw it away the second you see Jeff. I mean, I get it, but gotta step up the training I guess!
Surprisingly short season, only 9 episodes. Hopefully that isn't becoming the norm like western shows, but thankfully season 2!
7
u/Frontier246 6h ago
I actually love how he was already so much her dad that just seeing him again made her go back into daddy's girl mode.
8
u/jwb101 7h ago
Wait this was only a 9 episode season? I didn’t realize that. That’s too bad but I’ve enjoyed it.
5
u/Frontier246 7h ago
At least it was a great and fulfilling 9 episodes...and there's more to come with season 2!
9
9
u/Zxzxzx0088 6h ago
Woah, never expect they announced Season 2 right away! Although the production value is not very high and the last episode a bit out sync too, this show is pretty niche in general so I want to see more of it. Glad they stop here instead of compressing the new arc in three episodes.
3
u/Frontier246 6h ago
I can't wait for the inevitable endgame of the show which is "Nonna of Many Faces."
16
u/ObvsThrowaway5120 7h ago
Well, would ya look at that. The guy finally found her. And now they’re getting married and one big happy family with Nonna. I hope life in Shen’s gonna be a good one.
I was thinking to myself this ep is kind of a good end for the series. Lo and behold, it’s the finale. It was a short series, but an enjoyable one. Just a simple story of a woman with a checkered past trying to escape her demons. This honestly could have worked just as well as a movie I think.
7
u/Ok-Cod5254 6h ago
It was a short series, but an enjoyable one.
So there is more to come!
1
u/ObvsThrowaway5120 1h ago
Oh hey, that’s cool. Did not expect more but I’m happy to continue the journey.
4
u/Frontier246 7h ago
Anna had nothing but elite super spy skills and a desire to find everything that was taken from her when she was recruited. She was battling a feeling of emptiness, of loneliness, of loss. And she managed to find a true family that she could invest all her love and devotion towards and finally feel truly happy and belonging.
And I can't wait to see what cool super spy stuff she gets into as a badass wife/mom in Shen.

Jeff, Anna and Nonna are a cute little family <:
And no way a S2 was just announced. I didn't expect that at all!
8
u/SOdAchick 6h ago
I had no idea this was only 9 episodes, so I gasped when he found them so fast. Then I spent the rest of the episode crying my eyes out. I had no idea wgat this show was about when I started it, and now I'm soooo looking forward to another season 😭
9
u/YinkciHeart 6h ago
Only 9 episodes, but it was such a nice, heartwarming journey. The ending was very simple, they became a family and got their happy ending. No plot twists, no unnecessary too much drama, just a simple happy ending… and, that’s all I need.
2
u/Ocixo https://myanimelist.net/profile/BuzzyGuy 5h ago
This was such a sweet ending to the season, right!? Loved how Jeffrey asked Nonna if she’d want to be his daughter. Now the three of them officially form a happy family.
Since Jeffrey and Anna have become engaged, I’d love to see their wedding in the 2nd season.
1
u/DugACCat 4h ago
Yeah really enjoyed that thoroughly, though it was a surprise it ended today. Prefer that and a true happy ending to several more episodes of drama. Nonna was the cutest and most endearing child in any anime I’ve seen in a while. Her VA did a great job with every line.

Quotes from this episode:
I left special ops to be free, yet I feel so lonely and distressed
No, stop consoling yourself by looking for reasons he cannot find you
It's ok, Mom can cry, you know?
I was gonna come to the festival every year until I could find you.
Give me a chance to show off too
As long as you're happy, that's what matters Maria.
But if I answer that question, I will lose my job
Mom...thank you for becoming my mom
It'll be fine, because I have many faces (hands) at my disposal
14
u/LeggedMien7 7h ago
I have a few qualms about the ending, mostly the pacing and animation (or lack of thereof), but generally I loved this anime. Very much a sucker for "Highly capable adult female lead who doesn't turn into a damsel in distress at the sight of a man". I can't wait for season 2

Thank goodness this stopped as a nine episode show. I probably won't remember this in a year, but it was good time. :) I liked that Anna's main driver in the end was her charge instead of Jeff.

Im so happy to see our trio finally reunite again. Jeff proposing to marry and Anna deciding to become a family together was so wholesome and adorable. Had me kicking up my legs lol
Well it's the last ep and i gotta say i really enjoyed this anime alot despite its problems. The characters and their relationships were also surprisingly pretty great !!
Im really gonna miss this show, i had lots of fun watching and discussing it with everyone here,
But im also glad that a second season has been announced
See y'all in Season 2 !

u/Frontier246 6h ago
Anna can now add her real identity of Anna and wife of a lord to her many faces. There's always a new face/role to be gained if one puts in the effort to live a fulfilling life.
1
14
u/barktwiggs 7h ago
Well better they animate a 3/4 cour with good pacing than whatever the hell GoHands is doing with Exiled Heavy Knight. Stretching at best 16 episodes of content into 24.
6
4
3
u/SOdAchick 6h ago
I didn't know this was a short season, so I was thinking the whole time, "God, this would be a perfect season finale" 😅
1
u/Ill-Vast-4693 25m ago
Plus it also would have been a serviceable series finale had they decided not to continue the anime. The transition from volume 1 to volume 2 would have been very awkward anywhere outside a cour/season break, so it was truly for the best that they didn't try to squeeze the second volume into this season.
That said, there is no narrative reason why you can't have all the following volumes ordered as one big block, just the production/economic questions of "How many episodes will it take the studio to intelligbly cover these events" and "How many episodes are our sponsors willing to fund in one go", so we'll have to see if they want to keep at the current pace or see if they can fit more story into the next season.
3
3
u/goddessofthewinds https://myanimelist.net/profile/SpiritOfTheWinds 4h ago
For real. Exiled Knight is worst than that. It's about 12 minutes of NEW content per episode, not counting the repeated cityscapes and other filler content. It's at best a 13 episode season stretched to 24.
I stopped watching it and will wait for an abridged version, but only because I enjoyed the manga and the anime quality isn't too bad... it's just too much packed with useless fillers.
I, too, rather a great 9-10 episodes that doesn't stretch forever than something with fillers.

Sadly these last few eps felt a bit rushed but still a very sweet ending to a underrated series.

Anna of Many faces.
Found her on the first try. Nothing can stop this destiny.
Nonna looks cute no matter how she is, just like her mother.
3
u/Frontier246 7h ago
Honestly I feel like if Anna gets up to any spy shenanigans in Shen then Nonna is going to plead that she gets to do it with her because it's way too fun while Jeffrey just smiles and goes along with the ladies in his life living their best tomboy lives.
7
u/Deep-Presentation558 6h ago
Wait, this is really it for this season? If we exclude some visuals, it was so enjoyable and quite frankly soothing. Story alone is worthwhile regardless of pictures quality.
And Nonna is really one of those protect at all cost characters like Anya Forger and such.
7
5
u/goddessofthewinds https://myanimelist.net/profile/SpiritOfTheWinds 4h ago
All right, this was one of the highlights of the season for me.
A bit rushed toward the end, but otherwise a very sweet, fun and heartwarming story that didn't overstay its welcome. I wish we had a bit more more to it, but we'll get it because S2 was announced, which is such great news!
Can't wait to see what happens next. Will Anna work in the shadows? Will Nonna learn her skills? I haven't read the source materials so I'm really excited to see what's next. I feel like Nonna is too pure to really get involved in anything, but she's so cute, really wondering where the author goes next.
See you in S2!
4
u/Mindless-Care9301 4h ago
What a wholesome series, none of the character are dense and dumb, even Nonna is so smart, and i love how grateful she is and how mature she is when Anna was crying. Although she's small, she's actually Anna's strongest backbone, and the unbreakable bond that tied Anna and Jeff together.
Tbh, without Nonna, both of them won't even get to know each other, Nonna is the MVP !
4
u/etiolatezed 6h ago
They're all finally together. I might go back and see when the festival promise is made. I don't recall it as of now.

u/Difergion 4h ago
Final?! 🥲 I had no idea this only has 9 episodes but luckily S2 was already announced. This was such a slow yet feel-good show. It was lacking in terms of animation quality and writing on some parts but the dynamics esp with Anna, Nonna and Jeff as a family saved it. This wasn’t part of my initial watchlist for summer but I’m glad I gave it a try.
Ngl I kinda hoped Jeff and Anna would share a kiss this episode but for some reason the way they got engaged still felt right to me. Also, I was more touched when Jeff asked Nonna if he can be her dad more than him asking Anna to get married.
And I’m so proud of how Nonna has grown over the past 9 episodes. She grew up smart, perceptive, empathetic and really expressive that she seems more mature than most kids her age. I’m glad she found a good loving family now, she deserves all the hugs and headpats. I went ahead and hugged my son after right after watching this episode lol.
Excited to see what S2 will offer!
3
u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 4h ago
A happy reunion and a S2 announcement, I am pleased.
I wonder if Vicky was trying perhaps unconsciously to get caught by Jeffery with that visit to the festival, she seemed like she was starting to be pretty done with everything by the time he arrived. Perfect timing on that for sure, good work Jeffery.
I had been thinking of picking up the LNs and was already been looking at them on Amazon, but with a S2 incoming I'll wait on that until afterwards so I can remain an anime only for the discussions.
3
u/TurkeyPhat 3h ago
Jeff, what a guy.
One of my favorite shows of the season by far. Loved it pretty much the whole way through but I feel like the pacing was a bit off towards the end; probably could've used 1 more episode.
s/o to Shion Wakayama (had to look her up lol) the VA for Nonna. One of the best voiced kids I've ever seen in an anime. Am I crazy for saying that?
Can't wait for S2 and I hope we get some kind of followup on the people that Jeff/Anna left behind - Auntie/Uncle - who took them in.
2
u/NanDemoKnaives 5h ago
What a heartwarming way to end the season! I'm so glad Jeffrey found them, he took no time in proposing, and I really like that Anna revealed who she really is to him. I was surprised to get Jeffrey's backstory, but it makes sense why his brother does what he can to make sure Jeffrey is happy.
I couldn't help but smiling seeing them become a family, especially when Jeffrey asked Nonna if she'll be his daughter. It's just unfortunate we didn't get to see a kiss between Jeffrey and Anna, but this is getting a second season so let it happen there please!
I was getting emotional when Nonna was thanking Anna. Nonna revealing she knew she was abandoned, and then in the future came to understand the meaning of Anna staying by her side when she's running away, hit me harder than I thought it would. I'm glad they're mother and daughter.

This felt like it should have been episode 12 with a good happily ever after, having 3 more episodes and another season while good concerns me.
edit: didn't even realize this was the final episode, so weird for only 9!

u/ThisGachaSeemsLegit 4h ago
Kuuuuuuu... Jeff is such a good lad. ( エ∀エ)୨
I wonder if they went for a somewhat original ending or if they rushed to the finish line.
Some lip-sync issues, but overall I'm glad they kept the quality to the very end. 12/13 episodes would've really benefited the show though.
Still, a decent watch, I'm satisfied~
Edit: Season 2 confirmed? NANNIIIIII?!

Well, I guess it's nice that Prince Cedric is settling down...as a duke. He's even getting hitched, to Beatrice an adorable and plump lady who seems to adore him! Even though he broke of their engagement. It really sounds like there's a story there. But right now Jeffrey's got his own love life problems to sort out.
Maria and Lye are living a new life with Maria as a waitress, but when Victoria hears about the Ceriz Festival she can't help but think of Jeffrey and all that she gave up to go on the run...and she's tired of running and feeling so alone, even with Nonna there. Good thing she can't say no to her daughter when it comes to going to the festival!
DON'T PASS EACH OTHER ON THE BRIDGE!!!
Well, I guess I'm glad Victoria got to pay her respects to her deceased family, even if that just further emphasizes how she feels empty and unstable now. But luckily for them all that the fish pin fell..Jeffrey found it...AND HE FOUND VICTORIA!!!
With Nonna asleep, it's finally time for her parents to come clean with each other over everything, with the intention that Jeffrey isn't going to let Victoria go again, because he wants her to be with him. And in the interest of that, it's time he learned her REAL name: Anna Dale.
Dang, Jeffrey and Edward had a rough life! Their dad was an abusive piece of @#$% who abused the brothers because he couldn't be with his mistress and her child...until Jeffrey finally had enough and would have killed their father if Edward hadn't threatened him into giving Edward the noble title. Edward had even been planning to get rid of their dad anyway. But it's why the brothers are so loyal to each other, and seeing Jeffrey's emotional pain only makes Anna want to comfort and protect him.
Jeffrey proposed! Anna said yes! Nonna is ready to make Jeff her dad! They're finally one big happy family!
It would be nice to just settle down, but frankly Anna still being there is too much of a political hassle...so the family will be traveling to Shen together! It lets them stay together, gets them out of trouble, AND Jeffrey can help export medicine from the nation of Shen! So it's a win-win for everyone...except the people still missing Victoria I guess.
As they sail by the sea, Nonna reflects on how she went from being abandoned to finding a real mom and a family in Anna...while Anna found true happiness and fulfillment in her new family. A family she will fight tooth and nail to protect. After all...she's Anna of Many Faces!

Seeing Anna come to the realization how beat down emotionally she actually is and constantly having a voice in the back of her mind hoping Jeff would find her was so sad and real.
I really suspect Nonna immediately ran up to Jeff seeing him because, 1: She missed him, 2: She knew it was the last chance to get Anna and Jeff together. Also seeing Nonna thanking Anna got me misty eyed.
I was sad there wasn’t a epilogue until I just read her there is season 2 coming.

u/karer3is 3h ago
I'm glad to see we got at least one romance this season that had a happy resolution. But damn, they couldn't end this season without one horribly anachronistic tranlsation (something something "special ops")... I don't speak Japanese, but it really feels like the main "bad guys" in the show were not given much thought. Either that, or the localizer took some massive liberties with them.
1
u/TheBusStop12 2h ago
This episode triggered happy chemicals in my brain. This was an incredibly satisfying watch. Honestly, I would have been content if this was all we'd ever get. But the fact that they are doing a season 2 as well just made my week. So damn deserved
1
u/IceSmiley 2h ago
That's odd for an anime to end after 9 episodes. Jeff finding Victoria seemed kind of rushed, like I wonder if there was more story in the manga. They did wrap it up with a happy satisfying ending although I'd like to know why so much effort was expended to protect Victoria but Mike didn't say. I liked Jeff's dark revelation about his father as well. They wrapped that up too quickly as well though with him dying at the end of the story.
1
u/Enrich_Doomsayer 2h ago
What a great show. Honestly I'm really happy it was only 9 episodes. I was SO worried something horrible was going to happen and ruin the happy ending, and with only 3 more episodes for a normal cour (12) there would have been no way to resolve it.
1
u/Organic_Machine_2324 2h ago
Thought Jeff got kinda an undeserved great gf but also happy to see Anna and Nonna happy.
1
u/Murky_Bit1487 2h ago
Chloe/Vicky/Maria’s real name was actually Anna Dale! I was so touched by the scene where she cried thinking about her family, only for Jeff to show up when she felt most alone. They confessed everything, got engaged, and adopted Nonna.
So Season 2 will be about this blended family, kinda like Spy x Family , taking on the secret organization!
1
u/starman2995 2h ago
I overall thought the show was kind of just fine, but I really loved the OP song. It gave such a feeling of melancholy, it is like 70% of the reason I kept coming back each week. And it goes without saying that I added it to my playlist as well.

u/Jas_God 1h ago
What a fucking heartwarming episode, going into it I had no idea it was the season finale though. Why only 9 eps? Enjoyed it anyway.
Jeffrey’s childhood was terrible, glad he had Cedric with him at least. Kept thinking Ced would end up being a bad guy but nah, really is a good dude.

I do admit the pacing did feel rushed towards the end since it was a bit unclear how much time had passed. But I can't lie this was a good point to end the episode.
You can tell that Vicky wanted Jeff to find her in her heart. Of course her number one priority was keeping Nonna safe. It was good to see her get her family because she has been alone since she was Nonna's age. I adore the moment Nonna sees Jeff she runs towards him.
Man Jeff's father was beyond terrible. Impressed by his brother endured as long as he did. You definitely get the sense he really cares for Jeff and wants him to get away from the politics, and he knows being with Anna is what he needs.

A bit rushed but still a satisfying ending. So much so that I wouldn't even mind if the story ended right here. Glad to get another season and more of this lovely found family though.

After Suwa from Orange, I didn’t think there could be someone that could compete with that GOAT ideal of how a dude should be. Jeff, my buddy, YOU MADE THE LIST! What a goat.
Wasn’t expecting much from the show in the beginning, but it pleasantly surprised me and I enjoyed every episode. Didn’t think they would do a season 2, but you know what…I’m so glad that a season 2 was confirmed cause I want to see more of Vicky’s happy family life that she always desired.

This final episode was pretty rough both in animation and pacing.
Overall, the anime was enjoyable despite its flaws. It did get me interested enough to want to read the source material. I probably will watch the sequel, hopefully it will have higher quality.
(also it's cute that Nonna lost a baby tooth, i feel like that kind of detail doesn't appear in anime very often)

Lovely conclusion to the season, but I can't help but feel Anna had to hold the idiot ball for a bit to make the plot work. Maybe they cut some scenes for budget cause both she and Nonna had terrible opsec this episode compared to earlier in the season.

Didn't take long for them all to reunite, it was a great moment seeing it happen.
Moving to a new place as a brand new family, I am looking forward to seeing what happens in season 2.

My memory is so bad, what episode did Victoria and Jeff made that promise?
So Jeff's father sees his mistress give birth and it's not his wife whose upset but him? And then he takes the anger out on his legitimate kids. You know the people who are furious their spouce has an affair and direct their anger towards the bastard is somewhat understandable. They are the personification of the affair and a possible threat to the position of legitamate children depending on the society even if the choice that led to their birth was made without their input. WTF man?
Victoria asks why Ashberry is doing all that for her. Good question! It's one thing to just let her go, it is quite another to go out of their way to help her after she went out of her way to avoid you.
Moving around isn't good for children, they have more trouble developing roots. When a kid is moved around from the ages of 3 to 14, it decreases their odds of getting into college. Although the first year of a kid's life doesn't seem to change much. Obviously that doesn't apply here. But it also decreases the odds of finding a marriage partner that stays monogamous. Moved children also tend to be more socially withdrawn as adults. These results were consistent when adjusted for a mother's age when she had her first child (those who had a firstborn child below the age of 15 tended to have all their children do worse), martial status of mother (married and widowed mothers tended to do better than divorced mothers and those who were raised by a single father did worst), and geography (some counties just are better to be born in). Moving the children had a smaller negative effect when the household had a landline, which about 3/4 did. I suspect if a study was made today it would say "actually moved children are fine, but we found all of them had phone access so we don't know what happens to children who have no communication with their old social circle" but back then people didn't all have phones. Am I saying Nonna is doomed? No. Many children who were born in impoverished households who were moved around were socially well adjusted as adults. But the odds were against them and the mitigation factor of a telephone doesn't exist here.
I am probably going against the grain here, but I liked the series but think the ending was meh. Most of the fans probably grew very attached to Victoria, the main lead. It's not to say I don't like her. But I'd say for me it's 30% liking Victoria as a person and 70% liking how she was building up her fake like that she just threw away. As I pointed out in an earlier comment, for Nonna's sake it probably wasn't even worth running.

reading the comments, does anyone else find the storytelling really weird? I mean, the dialogues and way of talking was weird through all the season, but this particular finale epise was super weird. In terms of plot, they deliver everything we expected and wanted, they found each other again, talk about the current status, their past, their true identities, decided to live together and marry, all nice, but it all feels like a normal tuesday haha.
They saw each other after a long time and not a hug, or showing any emotions from both of them, only Nonna, then everything proceeds like a contract negotiation, "hello, let's marry and live together" "ok, and btw my real name is anna" "ok". "and now we live like a happy family, the end"
I am glad we get a second season, aside from the weird "acting" and interactions, it was an enjoyable anime. It's funny an okay anime like this gets a season 2 announcement so fast while we still waiting for No game no life. lol

You are probably used to shonen/seinen, targeted to male audiences. This is shojo, targeted to female audiences. It is very inline with other shojo/josei anime. And usually animes with different target demographics are animated by different groups of studios, so season 2 getting confirmed for this anime has nothing to do with No game no life not being confirmed.

I'm used and watch a lot of shoujo, and I know that it doesn't have anything to do with NGNL not having a second season. Different studios, different target, different schedules, different budget and important different sales expectation. My comment about NGNL is just a funny observation, I always make the same comment when an anime who I didn't expect to have a second season announces a second season.
Even as a shoujo, I felt that this anime had a weird storytelling. Feels less shoujo than the majority of other shoujos.
