I ship small iOS apps with no ads, no IAP, no account, and no server of mine

I ship small iOS apps. Free, no ads, no IAP, no account. Nothing of the user's sits on a server of mine.

I did that because AI made these tools cheap to build, so charging for them, or watching people to fund them, felt like a leftover habit. The apps sync through the user's own iCloud or they don't sync. That's the whole catch. There isn't one.

Not naming them here. This is just the rule I actually ship under.

Finally launched my first iOS app — Compass Live

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I finally got my app Compass Live live on the App Store.
It’s a personal finance app I’ve been working on for budgeting, spending, net worth and investments, with an AI coach called Nova as well.
Still very early with it so I’m trying to get as much real feedback as possible. If anyone wants to check it out I’d love to know what you think, especially anything you’d change or improve.
Happy to share the App Store link if anyone’s interested.

If you are still waiting for approval from Apple for your app, consider making it a web app?

I have been seeing several articles where people are getting rejected very often by Apple or it takes months for them to get approval. I have a friend who had an astrology app and it was really good but ultimately was never approved as it was in an extremely saturated category, even after applying multiple times and same thing happened with a friend who created a travel app which was also really good.

Why don't we look into improving the quality of web apps as a solution to the problem? or is it just backward and no ones gonna use it as often.

Also the amount of profit cut you have to give apple is insane initially for any money you make whereas web apps will have a way better margin. But again user experience is hindered.

Review rejection clarity

Post image
0 Upvotes

Issue Description
The latest app rejection provided this description of the problem:

We noticed that your promotional image to be displayed on the App Store does not sufficiently represent the associated promoted In-App Purchase and/or win back offer. Specifically, we found the following issue with your promotional image:

– Your promotional image is a screenshot taken from the app.

– Your promotional image includes text that is small or otherwise hard to read.

Next Steps

To resolve this issue, please revise your promotional image to ensure it is unique and accurately represents the associated promoted In-App Purchase and/or win back offer.

If you have no future plans on promoting this In-App Purchase product, you can delete the associated promotional image in App Store Connect.

It's is not entirely clear what the problem is to me. Should we not use screenshots of the actual pages users see? What do you guys use for promotional images?

The image is the screenshot I used minus the logo which you can't see. Of course I understand the bottom text is too small, but what else is wrong, and how would you address it please?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I will make Free Screenshots for 3 People (Read description)

Post image
Upvotes

Last week, we made app screenshots for 3 people, so today I’m online again and will make screenshots for 3 more people (who will comment first), like the attached image.

Comment your app link, or share your raw screenshots if your app isn’t live yet, along with a short description of what your app does.

I finally shipped my ios app after a month of building

I spent the last month building my first iOS app and it finally made it through App Review.

It’s called Gyminion a fitness tracker where you can track workouts, nutrition and progress, with a virtual pet that reacts to your consistency.

The idea was basically to make tracking workouts feel less like filling out a spreadsheet and more like a game.

Building the app was honestly the fun part. Now I’m finding out that getting actual users is a completely different problem lol.

I’d really appreciate any feedback from other iOS devs, especially on the UI/UX or onboarding.

Happy to answer anything about building it too.

I created an iPad app for developers who use terminals and browsers side-by-side

My workflow requires having multiple terminal and browser windows on one screen. So to get the most out of an iPad screen, i created Devrim.

My main motive was to use the screen estate as efficient as possible. No unnecessary chrome, ability to zoom-out to maximize viewport of websites, terminals and browsers tiled side-by-side, even floating windows to preview my work on top of vscode.

I appreciate any kind of feedback from developers.

Kael - calorie tracker that reads the plate from a photo [iPhone, 5- day free trial and a introdctory offer @ $1.99/month]

Solo developer, first app, released this month.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6791503821

Price: 5- day free trial and a introdctory offer @ $1.99/month then @ $5.99/month . A $9.99/month tier adds the adaptive calorie engine and a weekly meal plan. No free tier, no ads

, no promo codes.

What it does

- Photograph a meal and get the items back with estimated grams and macros in about four seconds. Six things on a plate come back as six editable rows

- Barcode scanning against an open food database, and nutrition label reading, for anything packaged
- A calorie target that is reviewed weekly against your logged weight trend ra

ther than fixed on day one
- Progress graphs, weekly review, streaks, Apple Health sync, community feed
- Weekly meal plan built around your macros, on the higher tier

Honest limitations

- iPhone only. No Android date I would trust
- Portion estimates run roughly 10 to 15% off the label on packaged food I have tested against. Item identification is the strong part, grams are the weaker part, which is why every row is editable
- The adaptive engine needs about two weeks of weight data before it does anything, so it will not show you much during a short trial

Transition to organisation account

Hi guys,

I started my transition from individual to organisation on the 5th of August, they asked me to upload various documents which I did.

They kept going back and forth about the letter of authorisation from my hr department which was eventually accepted on the 21st.

The senior advisor replied thanks for uploading the requested documents we'll get back when an update is available.

10 days later I still havent heard back.

I can't make any changes to my apps as my team and profile are in limbo state while the transition is going on.

Has anyone had a similar experience.😡😡😡

Looking for Apple-platform developers to test a Mac + Vision Pro asset workflow

Thank you to everyone who gave feedback on the earlier builds.

I’ve updated Reality Prep Pro for macOS and Reality Prep Preview for visionOS.

They’re designed to work together:
Prep Pro: batch-prepare, validate and optimise spatial assets on Mac.
Prep Preview: verify the resulting USDZ on Vision Pro and send validation evidence back to Prep Pro.

I’d really appreciate a few Apple-platform developers testing the full workflow with real assets.

I’m mainly looking for bugs, confusing UX, and anything that feels unnecessary.

Prep Pro: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/reality-prep-pro/id6767673652?mt=12

Prep Preview: https://testflight.apple.com/join/ySbVmz6b

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

Built an iPhone/iPad app where tasks overlap and count down at the same time instead of one after another, with the option to schedule the whole plan to repeat weekly

Post image
Upvotes

Hey folks, I'm the solo developer behind Parallask, a time blocking app for iPhone and iPad that just went live on the App Store.

Every time blocking app I tried assumes you do one thing at a time. Most days aren't like that. The oven runs while you chop, a load of laundry runs while you work, a call sits stacked on top of you taking notes. So the whole app is built around tasks overlapping instead of queuing.

You lay tasks out on a timeline instead of a list. Drag one to move it, drag its edge to resize it, and stack the ones that can run together. Start a plan and everything counts down on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so you can check progress without unlocking the phone. Plans can also be scheduled to start themselves on the days you pick, and every run gets logged, so you can see how long things actually took instead of how long you assumed.

It's free with one plan and the built-in colors. Unlimited plans and scheduling come with the paid tier if you end up using it a lot.

Happy to answer anything!

Here's a nice little website I made as well: https://www.parallask.com/

Four years ago, I had an idea. Today, it launches on the App Store as WellBee: Family Health Diary

Thumbnail apps.apple.com

About four years ago, my two youngest children—then around 1 and 4—were terribly sick over the course of several days.

I was exhausted and running on very little sleep, trying to keep track of everything: their symptoms, how high their fevers had been, how long they’d lasted, when I’d given medication, and how much.

At around 2:30am one morning, lying awake and feeling completely overwhelmed, I thought:

“There must be a better way to manage family health.”

Then I had an idea.

Despite desperately needing sleep, I got out of bed and spent the next few hours sketching out what that idea could become.

There was just one problem: I couldn’t code.

I didn’t have the money to hire someone, and AI coding assistants weren’t around yet. So I did the only thing I could; I taught myself Swift and SwiftUI and started building it myself.

Four years later, that idea is finally launching.

Meet WellBee: Family Health Diary.

A family health diary designed by a parent, for parents—helping you keep track of the health information that matters, all in one place.

And the core functionality is completely free to use.
If you’ve ever found yourself trying to remember a fever, symptom, medication, appointment or diagnosis when you’re exhausted and stressed, WellBee was built for you.
Available on the App Store today.

Four years. One very sleepless night. And a lot of Swift code later.

WellBee is finally here.

How can I check if in-app subscriptions are available on my Apple Developer account?

Hello everyone,

I recently created an Apple Developer account and I want to make sure that I can use In-App Purchases and Auto-Renewable Subscriptions with my account.

How can I check if subscriptions are allowed/available for my account before I start developing my app?

I’m based in Morocco, so I’m also wondering if there are any country-specific restrictions.

Thanks!

App Store review and feedback time

I have uploaded a new MacOS app (https://linelark.com/) for approval and it is pending for review since the 25th... I understand it takes longer to review the app as the number is likely increasing given the fact, it is now so easy to build an app.
What is less clear is: why, when you get a feedback to fix something, it seems that the review actually happened rather quickly (maybe one or two days after the submission), while the feedback was sent 4 or 5 days later... does anyone else have noticed the same?

Multiple apps in App Review

Can I have two or more completely different apps waiting for review at the same time? Would that get me flagged as spam or anything like that?

Or should I wait for the review of one app to be completed before submitting another app for review?

I’ve just released a massive update to my completely free meditation app, Calmie. No ads, no subscriptions—just calm.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’ve been working hard on a huge update for my meditation app, Calmie. I built this because I was tired of wellness apps locking basic breathing exercises behind expensive paywalls and forcing users to create accounts.

In this new update, Calmie has received a massive feature and design overhaul. It remains 100% free, private by design, and completely ad-free.

Here is what’s new:

  • Specialized Modes: I've introduced an ADHD Mode (featuring shorter presets, visible countdowns, and optional interval bells) and a Chronic Pain Mode (with gentler breathing rhythms and softer guidance).
  • 4 Guided Breathing Techniques: Box Breathing, 4-7-8, Coherent, and Triangle. Each comes with distinct audio cues (high note for inhale, mid for hold, low for exhale) so you can close your eyes and just follow the sound.
  • Apple Ecosystem Integration: Native iPad support with beautiful split-landscape layouts, smoother Apple Watch navigation, and new theme-aware Widgets for your Home screen!
  • Progress & Badges: You can now earn up to 20 achievement badges (from your First Breath to a Year of Zen). Track your journey with separate stats for breathing and meditation, plus a detailed session history.
  • Audio & Background: The timer and music now continue seamlessly when your screen is locked. Three gentle bell strikes will let you know when your session is over.

Privacy & Pricing (It's Free)

  • No account required.
  • No ads or hidden paywalls.
  • No third-party analytics — all session history stays on your device (with optional Apple Health integration).

You can check it out on the App Store here: https://apps.apple.com/pl/app/calmie/id6450792796

I would love to get your honest feedback on the new update, especially how the new design feels on the iPad and Apple Watch!

First app I've ever shipped just went live on the App Store

Just published my first ever app — still can't quite believe it's actually out there.

It's called Spud. It matches recipes to whatever you already have in your fridge — so instead of finding a recipe and going shopping, you start from what you own. Scan or type your ingredients, see what you can cook tonight ranked by match percentage, plan your week, and generate a shopping list for only the gaps.

Built it solo in React Native — had no mobile experience going in, just a React background. Learned a lot.

Happy to answer any questions about the build or the App Store process. And if anyone wants to give it a try: Spud

What’s the better strategy for a new app?

Launch it completely free, focus on getting as many users as possible, and figure out monetization later?

Or put up a hard paywall from day one and validate whether people are actually willing to pay?

Curious what worked better for those of you who’ve launched apps before.

What works for the onboarding flow?

I noticed that having an onboarding flow increases conversion.

But I’ve seen apps have 30 minute onboarding flows. I quit after 2 minutes. No one has time for that. I have way too much to do.

All my competitors have a long onboarding flow for their app. Why?

So what works for you? How long is your onboarding flow? What kind of questions do you ask? What are the best practices you see that get people to pay?

Feedback on new feature

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m working on a new feature inside my step-tracker and workout app that lets you set a workout goal.

I have now added a granular option to the goal builder workflow that lets users say either: “they want to work out 6 days out of the week” or “6 times in a week”.

The distinction is subtle but for example for me, I want to try and do some activity 6/7 days a week, but if very active on Mondays and tuesdays, wouldn’t want my goal to be achieved right away.

Do you think this visual displays that well?

App is Step Step.

20,000 impressions, 35 users, 0 organic listings. What am I missing?

Solo founder from Germany here, building a local marketplace app with two sides: everyday help (post a small job like moving boxes or garden work, neighbors apply and get paid) and rentals (borrow and lend stuff like drills, tents or projectors instead of buying). Payments, deposits and disputes are all handled by the platform. Launch city is Karlsruhe, a German university town. The numbers that keep me up at night: roughly 20,000 impressions across all channels (Meta ads, organic social, flyers, app store impressions from 2 months of ASO work, and Google search traffic from SEO), 35 registered users, and exactly zero listings from people I do not personally know. Every job and every rental item on the platform right now comes from friends and family. People click, land on the site, and most bounce within seconds. The ones who register stop right before posting anything. After reading the broken-paywall post here I double checked my own funnel for technical blockers. Registration, job posting and listing creation all work fine when I test them. So either everything is fine and marketplaces are just this brutal at the start, or I am blind to something. The iOS and Android apps are live but only in the German app stores. Easiest way to get a feel for it from anywhere: the browser version at beezybee-app.de (English included, though the audience is German). Posting is geo-locked to my launch region, but you can walk the entire flow up to the last step. I am mainly here for the discussion though, not for test users: the answers I need are about the psychology, not the pixels. Honest questions: Where would YOU bounce? Is the sign-up asking too much too early? What would a marketplace need to show you before you trust it with your stuff or hire a stranger from it? Fresh eyes welcome, roast away.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to look at it or share some thoughts. I know I’m basically asking strangers on the internet for free feedback, so I genuinely appreciate every honest opinion.

App screenshot feedback

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi! I’d love some feedback on my app screenshots. Do they look too basic? I see a lot of developers doing really creative and visually interesting things with their App Store screenshots, while I was intentionally going for a more minimalist vibe.

Would love to hear what you think. Thank you! :)

My second app was approved!

I got tired of podcast apps with bad UX, so I built and shipped the app I always wanted for myself. Designed entirely with myself as the user in mind, from someone who's spent ten years doing software engineering and product design. I'd love your feedback:

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/invader-podcast-app/id6781320719

https://invader.gg/

I was surprised by the initial reception and the initial burst of subscriptions. Really blew my mind. I've been using this app daily for the last couple of months, and I'm so excited that other people are using it now too.
