This piece was custom-made as a birthday gift (as stated in the description). The armor is a composite representation of the costume and gear worn by a warrior of the Golden Horde era.

The armor is crafted from genuine leather, fabric, and steel. The ornate fabric and leather elements signify the warrior's noble status. In this specific set, the warrior is armed only with a light saber. A full cavalry warrior’s kit could also include a spear, several javelins, a bow with multiple quivers of arrows, a mace, and a dagger.

The following techniques were used in the creation of this armor: leatherworking, hand-stitching, shoemaking, hot and cold forging, and embossing.

Hello, im looking to start harness fencing. After doing HEMA for a while and meeting with some lovely people that do hard AF. I decided to live out my childhood dreams of becoming a soup can and get a set of plate armor. I have most things figured out but i'm not fully sure about the helmet.

Im going to have it made by a smith from 2.5 mm spring steel and have it blackened so rust isnt that big of an problem.

The Sallet looks good with its wider range of motion. But, there are some safety concerns. The Bicoque helmet is better protected but i'm not sure about breathability and zero head movement sounds like a big drawback.

I'm not planning to replace the helmet in the future, so i need to pick very carefully, and advice from more experienced practitioners would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure wether it's an authentic Persianate helmet or a souvenir helmet from India, but still it's a cool gift and I am really happy for it. She got it in the Netherlands.

I'm trying my best to make an outfit where armor can be easily put on over it. It has the basic leather harness and greek inspired lower half, but I'm trying to see ways to 1: add more layers or make the clothing more interesting while 2: not making it look too western or medieval english. I'd hate to have this guy just put on an arming doublet or gambeson and call it a day.

I'm also not trying to make him wear full plate. A variation of lamellar or varangian guard armor is what I'm trying to aim for. Scale or lamellar over chainmail I guess.

I guess any thoughts are appreciated. And if it's not the right place to post this let me know 😅

This costume is a unique reconstruction created for an exhibition at Chinon Castle. It is inspired by the traditional attire of the Scottish Guards, which stands out for its vibrancy in ancient iconographic documents. Typically, only later liveries are displayed; however, several early versions existed, known only through court expense records, which specifically mention white wool fabric and jewelry work, though, unfortunately, no images remain. The specialists' task was to propose a plausible reconstruction as an alternative to the more well-known livery from the Hours of Étienne Chevalier. This "first" version is also inspired by the canopy of Charles VII, discovered in 2008 in a private residence and now housed in the Louvre.

Hey there! I’m studying armour form the XV century but I’m still pretty ignorant when it comes to armour before that period. I’m trying to explore armour which feature a great helm and are mainly made by mail. I put a couple of Graham Turner’s to give you an example (don’t know the periods, sorry for low quality). Hope you guys can give me a bit of a distinction when it comes to this type of armours. Thanks!

I have done extensive research on arms and armor, and a little less on life in late medieval Europe, but my nightmare is to become someone who speaks on something they know nothing about personally. I have already asked around regarding starting my own harness, but I’d like to hear what yall would want to say to a younger version of yourself, looking to get into the same hobby. I already know finding a club is the main thing to start with, but I don’t live in an area with any clubs related to the kind of thing I’m interested in, and I don’t live near any established armorers, so think of it as starting from scratch.

TLDR: What would you tell your highschool self, regarding advice on getting into harnischfecten, historical equitation, and reenactments?
