Cop Stuff Sharing my experience with Asheville Police.

Hello all, the city absolutely refuses to address the situation I face so I’m bringing in it to Reddit in hopes someone can tell me what the fuck I’m supposed to do. Currently, my job is located in front of a known drug dealers house. PD knows, locals to the area know, everyone knows. For some reason, the older male living in this house is CONVINCED we’re recording him, and he won’t stop disrupting our business and threatening us. Yesterday we got him trespassed, they (APD) told us to call back if he showed up. Today he showed back up with an AXE, beating on our glass with it, and then threatening myself and my two co workers in our parking lot. We took video, called APD, they took 30 minutes to show up to a call of someone making VIOLENT THREATS WITH AN AXE. And then they finally show up, they get out while the guy still has the axe, no guns drawn or anything. They let him walk back to his house, he throws the axe down, they talk to him for a second, don’t even arrest him, and then ASK US TO LEAVE OUR PLACE OF WORK, because the gentleman with the axe needs to cool off. I am completely shocked and appalled at the fact that we almost got attacked with an axe and it STILL took 25 minutes to arrive. We could have all been killed well before the cops arrived if we didn’t get in our cars and leave. If somehow any APD supervisor reads this, be ashamed and do better. You guys don’t protect shit.

( IN NEED OF FOREVER HOME!!! i meant to put a period between home and foster, i am fostering her currently but have a trip sep 26th )Hey everyone! i have been fostering two puppies from the Asheville humane society for the past few weeks. They are the sweetest babies ever and i wish i could keep them both but i already have so many pets. They are brother and sister and brother has found a home but not sister😢. I take her back friday she will be 8 weeks old, but will be going back alone and i feel so bad for her!!! they were a litter of 9 dumped at the shelter. She is sooo smart and already house trained she goes to the door whenever she needs to! Also spayed and crate trained. She is absolutely gorgeous as well! if i had to guess breed definitely Australian Shepard maybe mixed with great Pyrenees? the adoption fee is 175$ and will be ready to pick up friday, they only ask that you meet the puppy and i could meet up to see if she would be a good fit! if anyone is interested or you know someone may be send her to them! She is the sweetest baby and i feel so bad for her going back to the shelter alone, she has never been alone she has always had her brother. Shes also is super dog friendly very submissive and playful i introduced her to my cane corso and other dogs!

Classifieds Hand-Poked Tattoo Artist (now booking for autumn)

Hello tattoo lovers of Asheville! I am hoping to reach more locals, since a large portion of my following is outside of NC.

My name is Olyver and I am a licensed tattooer working out of a small, private studio in West Asheville. I am queer, and have six years of experience both in shops and private studio settings. In this time I have done more than 800 tattoos on nearly 600 clients. All of my work is hand-poked, and I aim to facilitate calm, meditative tattoo experiences. I believe the quality of a session is equally important to the quality of the work, and my client centered approach prioritizes consent, transparency, flexibility, and a little bit (or a lot) of magic.

My style spans botanical, ornamental, and abstract designs that flow with the form of the body. I hope for my designs to feel more like they formed naturally on the skin, rather than something pasted onto the surface. I specialize in tattoos that balance subtlety, while using contrast, simplicity, and integrity that will maintain 'visual impact' with aging and fading, and can easily be touched up and maintained.

To reduce financial stress I charge sliding-scale & gratuity included rates, and will never ask for more than an agreed upon budget/ cost maximum when established pre-session. To add some fun, clients are also welcome to bring altar objects, light incense/candles, or pick out a rock to hold for their session. I am open to trades for body work (primarily massage & acupuncture) herbs and medicinals, ceramics, car mechanic help, kiln usage, any kind of metal-working lessons (would love to learn welding, casting, or stained glass), vocal training, and produce/CSA.

If this sounds like what you are looking for out of your next tattoo, you can find more of my work at my website olyverscarbeary.com, or on my Instagram @_warmearthworm_

I would love to work with you!

Now booking September/October

Free tickets to Asheville Tourists

I got a flex plan at the beginning of the season but due to various factors I wasn't able to use all of the tickets and will be going to Boomtown this weekend so won't be able to attend the last few games of the season. If anybody wants to join me for the Wednesday night game or just wants tickets for any of the weekend games, I'm happy to share the remaining vouchers until I run out.

Ask the Sub Local ways to help Nepal after 8/26 flood

Are there any active donations or fundraisers happening here for those in Nepal? I spent a the most wonderful year of my life in Pokhara and Kathmandu and I want to help in any way that I can. I have donated to the government fund and world central kitchen and currently finding a way to send money to my friends with Nepalmed.

I understand asking this may not be appropriate to some on here, as I know we are still recovering ourselves, but Nepal needs everyone’s help and support right now more than ever.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Starnes cove school bus driver WTF

I was heading towards Old Haywood rd on Starnes cove about 5pm. Approaching the "Oil Can" garage a school bus(631) pulled straight out in front of me seemingly without looking at all, missed me by inches because i slammed on my brakes with several cars behind me, who also had to slam on their brakes. Stopped in the middle of the road forcing the already oncoming 3 or 4 cars in the other lane that they didnt look at either to slam on their brakes , then the bus turned abruptly onto the road that runs beside the Oil can(McKinney?) And floored it up the hill. WTF?. To the driver. You could have wrecked like 8 cars into a bus that was potentially carrying children to save what? A few seconds at the stop sign. We can do better than this.

It’s paw paw season y’all!! I am no longer the supplier for Grateful Roots. However, my friends from Blackthorn Kitchen and Farm are selling their paw paw there now. Get it while it lasts!! It goes pretty quickly.

Paw paw is a native fruit that taste similar to a banana or a mango. You can eat it as is, bake with it, make a jam…. So many possibilities!

Grateful Roots is in Leicester down highway 63.

Politics Campaign Finance Update for Asheville City Council/Mayor

If y'all wanted to know how much money is in the race, it's actually kind of a lot for a city of our size. I mean, I know we have some molten hot politics, but it's a little nauseating to see 100k being spent overall. I wrote about it, posted the sheet and sources here:

Update:

Thank you anyone who viewed or shared, we located the owner. Sounds like he may end up back for adoption unfortunately, so keep an eye out for him!

Politics Breaking: We just sued Amazon over what we believe was a vast, ad-rigging scheme worth $20 billion. - AG Jeff Jackson

In short:

We believe Amazon found a way to charge a few extra pennies to an enormous number of transactions, adding up to over $20 billion in
illegal charges.

This is about how something becomes a "Sponsored product."

Amazon lets businesses bid to be "Sponsored" and it runs digital auctions to collect the bids.

But Amazon told businesses that the highest bid would only pay slightly more than the second-highest bid.

For example: If you bid $1 to have your product “Sponsored” and the next-highest bid is $0.50, you should pay about $0.51.

But we believe that Amazon would run the auction, see those bids, and then secretly raise the second-place price so it could charge the
winner more.

It was a gradual strategy based on concealment.

Internal Amazon documents show they tested how much they could raise those hidden charges without advertisers catching on, then raised them
more when businesses didn’t react, then gave false answers when businesses started asking questions.

Those higher costs on sellers can filter down to you, as consumers, through higher prices, and our initial estimate is that this impacted thousands of small businesses in North Carolina.

This is a bipartisan case, and I appreciate my fellow AGs in both parties joining. More to follow.

- AG Jeff Jackson

Meme/Shitpost It appears Tony P "The Cuban Bear" is finally getting cancelled. Glad his 15 minutes of fame are ending!

I won't bore Reddit with the Facebook drama. But since there's been 162827 threads and comments about him thought I'd share.

It appears he pissed off the admin of Asheville Food Mafia. got banned and now there are multiple call out posts about him. Lots of mentions of the previous threads on here about him.

However will we live without his food reviews mentioning how fat and Cuban he is and mentions to whatever women he is sleeping with or hatred for women he's not sleeping with??!?!? The horror!!
