What's the best thing you've found in an op shop recently?
I had a good one yesterday at my local Salvo.
Backstory - I follow The Notorious Thrifter on IG and she always says "check the mens section" but I rarely do.
So yesterday i finally did...they had quite a few men's jackets and there must have been a local drycleaner who cleaned out their unclaimed stock, they all had dry cleaner tickets on them and the date was 2024. The first one I tried on was way too big on me, then I tried this one on, and it was a perfect fit, and the purple lining made it a done deal. It's got all the cute details...inside pockets, 3 spare buttons vents at the back etc.
I could tell the material was good quality and it felt like wool to me, but there was no composition label. The price...$13. So I took it to the counter and person working told me all blue labels were 50% off, so I only paid $7.50...score!
I got home and looked up the label, it's from a custom Hong Kong tailor and most of their fabrics are wool or wool/cashmere blend, then I googled the prices...average price is around $900 for a jacket. 😲 and the bonus is I know It's been dry cleaned since the last person wore it.
It looks so good on with my straight leg jeans, shame we are coming into warmer weather.
Who else had had good op-shop scores lately?
