Hi brains trust! I've bought this dress for an upcoming wedding and love it but now 2nd guessing if it's too much skin? Dress code is formal. Not a church wedding.

Thank you!

Edit: OK thanks all, it's a no! Back to the drawing board 😊

Op-shop great find!

What's the best thing you've found in an op shop recently?

I had a good one yesterday at my local Salvo.

Backstory - I follow The Notorious Thrifter on IG and she always says "check the mens section" but I rarely do.

So yesterday i finally did...they had quite a few men's jackets and there must have been a local drycleaner who cleaned out their unclaimed stock, they all had dry cleaner tickets on them and the date was 2024. The first one I tried on was way too big on me, then I tried this one on, and it was a perfect fit, and the purple lining made it a done deal. It's got all the cute details...inside pockets, 3 spare buttons vents at the back etc.

I could tell the material was good quality and it felt like wool to me, but there was no composition label. The price...$13. So I took it to the counter and person working told me all blue labels were 50% off, so I only paid $7.50...score!

I got home and looked up the label, it's from a custom Hong Kong tailor and most of their fabrics are wool or wool/cashmere blend, then I googled the prices...average price is around $900 for a jacket. 😲 and the bonus is I know It's been dry cleaned since the last person wore it.

It looks so good on with my straight leg jeans, shame we are coming into warmer weather.

Who else had had good op-shop scores lately?

❗ ID This Outfit Is this a genuine vintage dress?

I picked up this dress from an op shop yesterday and my friend thinks it’s vintage 60s/70s but wasn’t 100% sure.

Does anyone know about Alcorso clothing or fabric? If so, is this a genuine vintage dress?

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Good quality wedding guest attire for vintage / opshop lovers?

Hiiiii - I’m going to my first wedding next year and I have no idea what to wear. Most things I’ve found online have been a bit underwhelming… willing to spend up to (but hopefully less than) $800. Are there any good stores that sell second hand, good quality, vintage formal attire? Or even brand new if it’s not just your standard wedding outfit. The bride is a fashionista so she wants everyone to look their best. Winter wedding in the sub tropics so the weather will be nice.
Photo of my “party” clothes rack so you can see a bit of what’s up.

EDIT!! Online stores please, I live in the northern rivers. Unless there’s a cool shop in Byron/ bangalow that idk about, or somewhere on the Gold Coast (that’s roughly an hour and a half away from me)

I fear this is too specific but please help if something comes to mind. I saw this diva on the weekend wearing the coolest shoes which were pretty much what I described in the title. I have tried but I’m coming up short. They must have the bows!! I wanted to ask her where they were from but she had a baby and looked busy enough 😅

Skort recommendation for thick thighs?

Upvotes

Can anyone recommend a good skort that prevents chafing? Especially if you have thick thighs. I’m open to any style, like casual or activewear. Preferably A-line. I have tried bonds, Rockwear and crz yoga but the shorts underneath are always too tight/uncomfortable.

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Wedding attire recommendations

Ive got a wedding in late November with the following dress code;

Formal to cocktail (Full length gown, classy separates & midi-length cocktail dresses)

Im leaning towards full length gown but my budget rests between $100-$200

Does anyone have any recommendations that aren't just drop shipped shein websites? Im seriously struggling to find any good aus attire in general that isn't drop shipped.

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Summer wedding guest dress?

My sister is getting married over Australia Day weekend in Brisbane. The dress code is formal (she specified “dress to the nines”) and the venue is at a golf range.

I live in VIC and am not used to super hot weather, so I’m looking for a formal dress that I won’t sweat through lol

I prefer cool colours and jewel tones (blue, purple, green, burgundy). I don’t want something that highlights or clings to my stomach, since it’s not my best feature. I’m happy to show off my arms, legs, or back. Under $300 preferably :)

Best stores for young smart-casual wear

Upvotes

Hi,

I'm 22 and looking to get some quality staple pieces in my wardrobe for day-to-day and work (currently a student looking for work).

I'm around a size 14 to 16 so sizing is almost always a hit or miss. Larger hips (always need a belt 🥲) and average bust, overall a little on the curvier side.

What are the best stores to get quality basics at a reasonable price?

I'd definitely prefer more natural materials as the temperature is quickly warming after winter.

Won't give a price as I genuinely haven't shopped for clothes in years so have no idea what to expect.

Thanks!

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Activewear tops that don’t cut off at the fattest part of my upper arm

I’m trying to get back into fitness, and hunting for some activewear that will make me feel good. I am specifically looking for fitted tops but where the sleeve doesn’t cut off at the fattest part of my upper arm, but rather covers it.

I’ve done a wide search myself, and also got my AI to do a search. But every fitted top seems to cut off mid bicep, which is really unflattering on me or is a cropped top.

Does anyone have any suggestions, for fitted activewear tops that have slightly longer sleeves, and ideally sell in size AU 16 or above?

Mid length denim shorts with drawstring

I’m searching for the perfect pair of denim shorts.

I’m after ones on the longer side but more mid-thigh rather than those long shorts that are down to the knee. I have big hips/bum for my waist and need something with a drawstring for a cinched waist.

Thanks!

Just Jeans Curve Range?

I couldn't really find info online - wondering if anyone knows which (if any) shops really carry the curve range of just jeans? Specifically sizes 22-24. Also, does anyone know if any of the outlets carry the curve ranges? I'm based in Sydney.

Have tried ordering online but their sizes are all over the place.. got a 24 that's way too big and one that doesn't even zip up.. Also got tees that are the same size, one fits, ones too small! So I think I've given up ordering online since you have to pay postage and return, just to get such inconsistent sizing!

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Welcome dinner dress recs

I'm looking for recommendations for a cute dress for a welcome party the night before a destination wedding (gold coast).

Something sweet but has a tiny bit of sexiness about it that's not inappropriate and that I would get wear out of again during summer. I like the length in the pic too.

Nothing shein etc please and bonus points for an Aus designer.

PSA - Vinted shipping increasing again!

I have been looking at vinted today and it seems like anything new that isn’t favourited (or maybe it’s just new added UK items?) the shipping is now ~$14.64.

and, anything that was $11 is more expensive to get shipped to home instead of a parcel pick up point.

so those cheap $5 interesting tops from the UK are sadly getting more expensive now. I wish we had the same range of fashion as the UK!!!

👜 Fashion Talk Is my coat too long or is it slay?

I got this witchery classic trench coat, I was super excited to wear it and I love the length. For reference I am 5"3. Some people have questioned the length and asked if it was too long, but I told them that was the style its maxi length. But now I am kind of worried I look silly.

Please be honest and tell me what you think.

***EDIT: this is a size 4 and I am actually a size 6-8 not sure how much smaller it could get :(. I also bought the coat from depop hence why it may not fit properly and why its so wrinkly lmao I havent ironed it yet And to the comments about the shoulder and length fitting, I personally prefer something a bit more relaxed. I dont feel confident in fitted trench coats. I was more concerned about the length here.

Alternative recommendations for this dress

Hello! I’m desperate for this dress to restock but I have an event in 3 weeks which I fear won’t be enough time for a restock and delivery.

Any suggestions for alternatives?!
I’m wanting a resort vibe for my island vacation trip for my birthday

Has anyone been successful in getting the Dotti welcome discount code? I’ve tried signing up with two different emails and haven’t received any welcome emails to either. I know Dotti has site wide sales all the time but I’m impatient.

Target size 20 jeans

Just need to rant. So I fluctuate between size 18 and 20, and Target jeans have always fit me really well, and they’ve been my go-to for jeans for some time. I just went on the website to look at some girlfriend and wide-leg jeans and they seem to have axed size 20 for most of their jeans?!

That’s actually so upsetting and disappointing 😭

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Sensory friendly curvy work clothes

Hi everyone!

I need some clothing recommendations for a work wardrobe. I teach secondary school so stuff needs to pass the teacher test too 😮‍💨.

Hell yeah:

Size 14

Cotton or stretch cotton

Linen

Fitted but not tight? Like I don't want to look like I'm wearing a potato sack but I don't want to feel like I'm being strangled either.

Knits and soft wool are cool.

A-line and skater dresses look nice.

Nopes:

Linen blend (especially the kmart and Dangerfield version)

Silks (ew sticky)

That cheap polyester. Makes me feel like I'm wearing a furnace!

I don't mind dresses and skirts but they need to be long enough to go to the knee because the good lord blessed me with the bum but elected not to bless the chest lol 😂

Thanks in advance and god speed!

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Wireless bra in a bigger cup size - wishful thinking?

I’m in my second trimester and my boobs have grown rapidly - I’m currently a 14F (started as a 10DD). I’ve bought a few new underwire bras but finding them increasingly uncomfortable/just too much lift, and wondering if there’s a wireless bra out there that anyone around this size can recommend.

I only need moderate support, it’s for office days and the most strenuous thing I do is go up and down the stairs. Definitely looking for a hook and eye back though, as wrestling it over my head does not appeal. One complicating factor is my nips are also making themselves known so I definitely need a somewhat thick cup. Any thoughts welcome!
