Did you need to be on the right side of this airplane to see this eclipse? No. Lunar eclipses are routinely seen from the half of the Earth facing the Moon when the eclipse occurs, making them some of the most commonly witnessed astronomical events. You don't even need any special equipment to see one -- just your unaided eyes. Lunar eclipses are also some of the most photographed astronomical events because, unlike with a solar eclipse, your eyes and camera do not have to look toward the bright Sun. However, considering the featured image taken last week from Portugal, if you were on the left side of that airplane during takeoff, you might have trouble seeing it -- at first. But even then, after takeoff, since lunar eclipses typically last for hours, you might soon be able to safely cross the aisle(s) to see it.

Pretty much all commercial and subsonic military aircraft have rather complex systems to prevent and/or remove airframe ice buildup, but for whatever reason the go-fast community are not similarly equipped. Sure some of the external sensors may be electrically heated, but nothing on any of the leading edges, at least not that I know of.

I can only imagine that maybe they have enough reserve thrust to overcome any ice buildup long enough to make it to more favorable conditions, other than that I have no idea.

Curious if any of you have ever seen these on a CJ4 or any CJ for that matter. Looks to overlay the spar , ribs , and stringers. TIA

A couple of days ago, I was flying a short route and I noticed this small orifice on the side of the engine, and I wondered why it looked like it was made by hand rather than on a production line.
In my mind, everything plane-related was minutely calculated.

In his speech today, President Zelensky warned every airline, insurer, and other actor that the Russian sky is not safe and is reserved for drone operations.

He made it clear that no threats were made against civilian aircraft, but that the war has simply made the sky risky.

These photos were taken Sunday (8/30) afternoon as BA193 was landing from LHR. BA192 back to LHR took off Sunday evening, and that was the end of the BA A380 at DFW… for now. I can’t find any news about type service stopping or if they will bring them back.

As of yesterday (8/31), this route is now serviced by the 787-10. I had no idea I caught the last one!

Remember a few decades ago, there was alot of talk about the secret project Aurora. Does it still exists, or has it involved into something else?

I worked in tech for nearly 2 decades, have a scientific background and am now considering becoming a pilot. Ideally, a bush pilot, cargo pilot, for NGOs, UN, things like that. I am not afraid to fly in less stable countries. I would earn my CPL somewhere in the EU (am a EU citizien and costs are probably lower in the EU)

I know this would be a long and perilous journey but is this still worth it given the availability of pilot jobs in a near future, possibly autonomous aircrafts replacing pilots even?

Does anyone know what’s up with that Arajet 737 that’s been parked in front of the A gates for weeks? At one point they had all the exhaust ports for APU and engine wrapped in plastic.
