I haven’t decided anything yet so please be kind. I just don’t think my place is big enough for my one year old basset boy. I love him more than the day is long and it’s breaking my heart to make this post but he just isn’t happy. I want to do right by him but I’m gone at least 8 hours a day and he’s very bored/destructive.
He’s destroyed a computer a microwave (he can get up on the counters) and all of my dishes my glasses and my cpap machine. I’m looking for a home that can train him and be with him more than not.
Alternatively I’m looking for any advice anyone can give me on how to curtail his destructive behavior. I want to keep him so anything would help. I’m just worried a different home would be better for him.

Sir Tibbles Waddlesworth sometimes refuses to walk for lunch. His favorite is flat basseting in the middle of the street, rolling onto his back when you get near him.
But he’ll gladly go into the wagon, where he’s given the royal procession he so rightfully deserves! 😂

My first Basset. Her name is Tilly. I was afraid she would be aloof and independent- in fact she is the most affectionate dog I’ve ever owned! She loves people and people love her. She creates a wake of joy. This dog looked me in the eye and decided to trust me - and then she gave me her everything. ❤️🐶

Is this normal???? She’s been pooping and peeing outside, but today, she literally peed outside, made a beeline back inside, and then once inside, immediately pooped on the carpet. She’s had pee accidents but it’s mostly been when someone other than myself come and check on her during the day and hang out with her while I’m at work. They’ll try to let her out, she won’t go pee outside with them, then comes back in and pees on the carpet. Ok, fine sure, it’s not someone else’s job to train them when I’m not here and they’re doing me a favor by coming and hanging out with me while I’m at work.
But this poop thing. What the heck????
She’s a 6 month old basset, and this is the first time she’s actually rushed to get back in (I thought it was just because someone was on a night jog and it spooked her so she wanted to come back inside), but to immediately crap in the floor 😩😩 What am I doing wrong?????

Ella is over 3.5 months old now and she's getting so big so fast. She is also learning outside isn't a bad thing even if the grass is wet.

Took Daisy to a state park lake that had a sand beach. It was her first time touching sand. She had a grand time.

Just 30 seconds of pure joy as my 85 year old Grandmother and my 6 month old basset play with one another.
EDIT: The pup is on Instagram @moghrathebasset, if anyone wants to tune into more fun stuff.

i’m bringing home a puppy in january and trying to prepare way ahead of time.
do yall have recommendations for basset approved items? collars, leashes, beds, safe car seats, toys, puppy slings, anything and everything.
i know bassets are large dogs on small legs which poses an interesting challenge when buying things like harnesses. any and all suggestions are welcome
