GENERAL DISCUSSION People depicting Talia al ghul and Damian with super dark skin while dismissing them having pale skin have no education and are fake woke

As a Syrian woman, 90% of the Arab people I know all have pale skin. Arab people have other distinguishing features such as our long noses, big eyes and lots of body hair such as beard etc etcs.

So why are people so convinced that it's more morally correct to draw Talia and Damian with dark skin when they have never been shown to be the rarer Arab people that do have dark skin?

It feels like they never did ANY research on what Arab people look like and just decided that being dark is more morally correct. It's especially weird when they see a picture of Talia and Damian from the comics where they're pale and say stuff like "WHOSE PASTY WHITE BABY IS THIS". That's racist and dismissive of most of the Arab population and tells me that you have never even met an Arab person.

Not to mention Talia is half Chinese while her father is a pale Arab man, how would she have dark skin? It's possible but since her debut it's been shown she's pale. Tbh I'm fine with Talia having darker skin because it doesn't hurt anyone anyway but the way people dismiss the possibility of an Arab woman having pale skin when that's most of the population feels braindead.

Damian tho is only 25% Arab bro, 25%chinese and 50% white. Genetics don't exactly work like that but if he has genetics from places where people mostly have pale skin then tell me why in fanart dumb people draw him with really dark skin?

I don't care if y'all are ignorant or wanna headcanon them as dark skinned but STOP DISMISSING the fact that the majority of Arab people have pale skin. When y'all say stuff like "whose pasty baby is that" then you sound racist and highly dumb like someone who has never met an Arab person. Lock in and get a biology class

NEWS There’s only one comic accurate Batman and it’s Adam west

Hate to break it to you kiddos but only way for Batman to ever be good in the movies is for him to be a bright cheerful law abiding goofball in a colorful world that dances the batsuisi and uses shark repellent spray. It’s the only comic accurate live action rendition of him ever done, like it’s litterally so one to one with The Killing Joke, Death of the family and every other comic that it’s uncanny. All the movies are bad because they’re dark and gritty and unfaithful. Batman being a brooding complex vigilante like Nolan and Matt Reeves versions are unheard of in the comics, nobody has ever done that before the movies did.

GENERAL DISCUSSION Batman killing his rogue's gallery does not seem to be an unpopular opinion on this subreddit.

Someone made a topic saying that they have an upopular opinion, but they like that Bruce let Raas die in Batman Begins. Going by all the posts that I see talking about how much they think that Batman should kill The Joker, I'd say that him killing his enemies is something that the majority of you want him to do.

I think that after a fight with Batman, Bond is going back home wearing some bandages.

Love Bond, but whats he gonna do? Cant shot Bat at a party, and would lose in a fist fight, besides Batman has taken on Deathstroke and Deadshot.

Besides Bond's car has nothing on Batman's car, so...

What you think?

I’m making a Crime Syndicate fan project, and these are my two favourite Owlman suit designs, but I’m having trouble choosing which one to go with, so I wanna get the public consensus. I’ll be going with whichever one gets the most votes or comments.

I was at a local comic shop and was thinking of picking these books up. (Batman Holy Terror/ Scar of the Bat/ The Blue, The Grey, and The Bat) are they worth buying? They’re only around $5-$6.

COMIC DISCUSSION Am I the only one who likes this?

I've recently got into a really bad accident not too long ago and am recovering well now. Mostly in my room, so to pass the time, I bought Matt Fractions Batman tpb volume one, plus a few issues, and after reading it, I just gotta ask, am I the only one who really likes the relationship between Bruce and Dr Annika Zeller?

Like, I had no clue Bruce was gonna get a new love intrest and all but if I'm being honest, I prefer this over BatCat, EXCEPT the webtoons and absolute versions. Like, no hate towards Selina whatsoever, love her character, but seeing Bruce get a new love intrest that isn't (somewhat) toxic feels refreshing. I love their banter, I found it funny how Damian accidently revealed that Bruce is Batman to her.

I know that she won't stay past this run, despite how much I want her to be a recurring character in Bruce's life. Heck, people are saying she might turn evil, but I think she'll make Bruce confront his trauma. They're just really fun together IMO and I love seeing them on panel.

Thats just my thoughts, thanks for reading, god bless yall.

Also, pls no spoilers for this run after issue 11, I haven't read the rest yet.

ORIGINAL IDEA/SUGGESTION Guts/Monarch, my Batman character/story

Post image
21 Upvotes

Made awhile about a week ago that went over a character or storyline idea I had that received some attention, so I thought I’d make an updated version with more info on them. . .

This character's name is Zoran Morden, and to really understand his character, we gotta get into his backstory (I know, eyeroll, stick with me).

Both of Zoran’s parents were members of the military, but for different countries. Zoran’s mother was named Somoni; she was a well-known KGB officer. His father was named Denali, and he was a member of the United States military as a medical scientist. Somoni and Denali met each other during a campaign in Alaska, where both Russian and American troops were stationed. From there, the rest is history.

Two people deeply in love, yet quite literally caught between two "worlds" and opposing countries. Eventually, through less-than-legal means, the two deserted their responsibilities and posts, running away and hoping for a new life. Over the course of the next ten years, Somoni, Denali, and their son Zoran settled down and attempted to live a normal life, yet the time they had would eventually be cut short.

While Zoran was away, someone broke into their home and killed Denali and Somoni, ending the lives of the two lovers who had tried to outrun their past sins. With his parents gone, a 14-year-old Zoran was now left alone in the little house that his parents had wanted to be their new beginning, which ended up being their tomb. (This backstory was heavily inspired by the story of the Marston family from the Red Dead Redemption series, with the atmosphere regarding Zoran’s life mirroring that of what’s seen by adult Jack Marston in the epilogue of the first RDR uncomfortably quiet, eerie, and tunnel-visioned by revenge! ) Zoran would eventually devote his time to tracking down and likely avenging the death of his parents and the life they lived, donning the name “Guts”.

Over time, Zoran’s campaign would lead him to Gotham, where, of course, he came into contact with Batman and his "associates." While it took some time, as expected, Zoran would eventually be accepted and welcomed by Bruce and the rest of the Batfamily, yet Zoran would also feel like a bit of a black sheep, or not as close to them as they might’ve thought.

Eventually a wedge was beginning to from between Zoran and the rest of the batfamily, a conflict over morals, ethics or the question of them. A huge turning point for Zoran would be gaining superpowers. After a heated exchange and a quiet excommunication on Zoran’s part from Bruce and rest of the batfamily he mad his way to a site he was investigating. Eventually a fire broke out and Zoran was caught within it, with a connection to his Chiton’s membrane armour while being burned alive his body was systematically rebuilt.

Their main power is opening a crack or portal on their back that spews a spiritual energy. With this energy, they can form very large spiritual butterfly wings that they can use to fly and protect themselves. With this they don the new name "Monarch" in reference to their butterfly-like appearance and eventual tyrannical turn. (I know Monarch is already a DC character, but tons of DC characters share names, so it's not that big of a deal.)**

Their character would begin to devolve as they become more ruthless, apathetic, and absolute, doing things like capturing various mob bosses (like Penguin and Black Mask), publicly tying them up in the center of the city, and proceeding to give all their money away to civilians right in front of them, effectively flooding the Gotham economy with cash. They’d then start doing other extreme things, like destroying Mr. Freeze's suit to force him into a cryostasis chamber or die, or publicly branding the Riddler's face with the word "Loser."

This whole shift would ultimately culminate in them adopting the mindset: \*"If everybody is equal, everything is fair and there will be no conflict; if there is no conflict, absolute efficiency can be achieved."\* Very "Vox Populi, Vox Dei" (the voice of the people is the voice of God). This character would gain a public following not through scheming in the shadows, but by being social, charismatic, and speaking with a manipulative silver tongue. A major contrast between Monarch and the rest of the Batfamily would be that he represents light and public charisma, compared to the others who scheme and operate in the dark, away from the masses. It flips the classic trope of light = good and darkness = bad.

Monarch would draw heavy motifs from eusocial insects and angels. The eusocial insects connect to Monarch's butterfly inspiration and him propping himself up as the absolute leader of the hive (Gotham), while the angels represent his growing God complex. Visually, a pose where Monarch covers his legs, body, and face with three distinct segments of his wings would draw clear comparisons to a Seraphim, the highest order of angels standing before God.

This is just an idea, but if this were to happen in a story, how do you think the Batfamily members would react? And what do you think about the concept?

Just for last “author notes”, I just thought i’d share a fact that Somoni and Denali’s name are derived from the tallest mountains in the USA and USSR respectively; Mount Denali in Alaska and Ismoil Somoni Peak in what’s now Tajikistan. Zoran’s name itself is slavic in nature, translating/meaning ‘New beginning’ which reflects his character in multiple ways

GENERAL DISCUSSION Just for fun, what existing love song do you think the Joker might sing to himself—but one that is actually meant for Batman ?

My choice would be the French song "Je n'ai pas changé" by Julio Iglesias ; it speaks of nostalgia, staying true to oneself, and the passage of time, despite hardships or the distance separating lovers. I thinks that fits the Joker really well in a morbid way.

Tv, comic, live action to video game versions. What versions of the dark knight wouldn’t like each other? For example now Pattinson’s would hate batflecks since batfleck is a killer that acted like the punisher in a batsuit

Image used as suggestion, you can choose from any official version of him, including comics (duh), cartoons, movies (live action too), video games, anything! As long as it is official and as long as it's a Batman variant. You can add their respective Robin too in the cast. The protagonist Batman can be original variant not based on any specific continuity

COMIC DISCUSSION Which of Batmans rogue gallery has "died"?" Spoiler

So no popular characters in Marvel and DC ever dies, we talk about that all the time, but who among his rogues gallery had "died" and come back. Any era is fine, but I'd especially like to hear about this happening after the silver age.

The most emotionally impactful time for me was during James Tynions Run of Detective Comics Rebirth. Batwoman killing him brought me to tears, I felt so bad for him.

GENERAL DISCUSSION Villain exchange: Bane for Kraven. For they are somewhat similar...

Thumbnail

I mean people used to compare Bane to Venom when in reality Kraven was more of a match for him.

Both where on a quest to break their enemies Batman & Spiderman. And study them.

Both used a serum to advance strength.

Both had messed up childhoods Bane in prison and Kraven trained to hunt.

Both stole the identity of their enemies Kraven buried spiderman alive and wore the black suit.

Both have buried their enemies alive.

Both killed a loved one of their enemies Alfred and Kaine.

Both have clone children.

Both fought dinosaurs.

And somehow both become mutant cats at one point.

All in all if they where to switch enemies how well would they fare? If Bane fight a spiderman I think it should be Miles he needs more enemies and not some of peter rogue gallery.

As for Kraven it be prep time with him stalking Batman until he ready for the hunt should he bring his army like in the game?
