My dad and I have been collecting ASM Vol 1 for the past year or so now, we still have a long way to go (about 150 books left) but we decided to pick up a big key issue. It’s not perfect but I think it looks great and we both said wow when it came so it’s another big one ticked off the list.

Just thought I’d share. Anyone else picked up any big key issues recently?

A lot more Thor than anything else but immediately sealed these up for safekeeping. The fantastic four one breaks my heart but will be kept safe from now on.

Low grade maybe 1 to 2 but still easy starter copy.

Picked these up at 4 different shops in my local area over the last couple weeks. Some of my favorite McFarlane Spiderman covers. All this and my local comic con (Tucson AZ) starts Friday!

September kinda snuck up on me, so I threw this Bronze Age wall together pretty quickly. One Marvel book from each year, 1970 through 1984.

I tried not to just pick the obvious book every year, so a few of these are intentionally a little left-field.

What would you have chosen for each year? Which of mine really capture their year for Marvel, and which ones did I whiff on?

A friend recently came upon a large collection of comics mostly from late 70's/early 80's, but the most interesting find was 8 sets of print plates that I traced back to a World Color plant in Sparta, IL. Each set is 4 plates (CMYK) and are for the following covers:

• Warlord #7
• The Witching Hour #72 (unused)
• Action Comics #473
• Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #228
• Superman #313
• Wonder Woman #232 (pictured)
• World's Finest Comics #245 (unused)
• DC Special #28

I've not seen collections with plates like this before. Neat piece of history but worth holding onto? Do folks collect these?

What’s up everybody! Just wanted to share an awesome find. There are about 15 known copies of this 2nd edition/newsstand edition out there and now there’s apparently one more. I was just going through my old collection and had no idea this was even a thing but it made for an awesome weekend!

Best haul of 2000 AD of my life. Nearly 50 new pickups to add to my GF's collection.

Finding anything Dredd can be a PITA (Eagle comics reprints etc.), so to say I'm pleased is an understatement.

Wow, what a trip that was! I left Boston after loading the truck and doing a quick clean up (I put 100's of albums at the curb ). I rolled into Atl around midnight Friday and I took Saturday off, before unloading the truck.

The things I learned while in Boston about the collection: The original owner is still alive! He's 62, living in an assisted living facility after having a stroke @ 60. His passion was comic books, for there wasn't much else going on in his life. He is special needs, and he wasn't allowed to play video games or have a computer until he was 40. The mother thought he would stay upstairs and never come downstairs if he had video consoles or computers. He only had his comic books! His love for them is reflected in their condition! Most of the books (80%) look as if they were just bought w/out any signs of use or damage. One of his main comic shops was Empire Comics (now Blackhole Comics), I have like 10 Marvel hardback books (never opened) that are still in the Empire shopping bags. I was hoping to find some Tick one offs or signed comics but none were present.

The sell of his collection will help support him after he moves to the metro Atlanta area where his remaining family can take care of him.

The comic collection is truly mind blowing to one that has never really read or collected comics. There were 97 boxes, but not 97 long boxes, and the 68 long boxes were stuffed to capacity. I counted the comics in two boxes to get an idea of the count and each box held approximately 400 bagged comics. So I'm a bit closer to 40,000 comics when I include the misc. boxes filled with comics and hardback books. Each long box was alphabetized by series, numerically in order, and bagged, w/ little card board placards separating each series.. There are just so many comics, I was overwhelmed. Of course it was super hot and my phone stopped taking photos due to a heat error, and I was unable to get a ton of photos.

I saw (what I assume) full runs of TMNT, The Tick, Vampirella, 100's upon hundreds of Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Conan, WW, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, The Thing, Swamp Thing, Detective comics, Werewolf by Night, Unexpected, Vampire, Iron Man, Marvel Presents and more! The Fantastic Four & Teen Titans series seemed to be complete (but hell i don't know)! The Independent (Dark Horse, Epic, Eclipse, titles were in the 1,000's and I just can't recall their names. I saw comics w/ prices from 12 cent to 2.95 so the collection covers many years. The older comics (12c-75c) were in the worst condition, but some appeared new.

In a previous post a few peeps mentioned that this could be a pedigree collection and after reading up on CGC's website I think it would qualify! The only problem, I don't plan on grading any of the comics, unless you guys recommend it on certain books. I would like to give a big shout out to u/collector-x for the walk through on using the CLZ app. This will save me a ton of time in the future.

As another mentioned in my previous post about bags and boards. You are right, I will end up spending $1,000's on boards, bags and additional boxes. If I can find someone that can edit recordings between now and the first of the year, I will record this process. The more I think about sharing what it would be like to go through a comic collection of this size, I think it would be cool to watch.

One of the main questions I saw on the previous post was why wait until 2027? I am currently working on the liquidation (i hope to finish by 12/26) of a doll collection that was 3,000 strong! The comics were not bought, I invested a few 1,000 to get it back to Atlanta and the owner and I will split the proceeds 50/50 after cost.
