Saw this on IG. I’m 37. I have never seen this show. I’m familiar with it because internet, but have never watched an episode. For those who have seen it or were fans, if I start from episode one, will I be entertained/moved by this show as a black woman in 2026? Just curious

Dating/Relationships/Sex 🍑🍆 He surpassed my freak and idk what to do. Late bloomer here.

Edit: FWB relationship!!!

Met the sweetest, most considerate, intelligent, funny, ambitious man a couple weeks ago. He calls me ‘love’ and sends me good morning/good night texts everyday. It’s a bit overwhelming, but I have to admit I’m not used to this treatment.

He opens doors for me, including car doors (even my own!), takes my hand if there’s a tripping hazard. He’s very patient and friendly with me and I like him a lot. Very passionate and very intense when the freak switch flips, but backs off and stops immediately if I say no. Baby boy is a proper man (the bar is under Satan’s septic tank 🥲).

I didn’t know how much of a freak he was until he invited me over and asked me to practice tying him up. That’s just one of the kinks he wants to explore. He leans dominant.

This is looking to be a strong FWB relationship because neither of us are looking for more, but outside my basic vanilla fantasies, I’m lost. I want to surprise him with some kinky stuff too.

What are ya’lls experiences with kinky men? And I mean ones who respect boundaries and explore with an open mind instead of saying they’re kinky and just trying to choke and slap you with big-for-nothing 🍆 (true story).

And in case anyone was wondering, he’s black 💕🖤💗

Lastly, don’t come in here with none of that pearl clutching, puritanical church auntie energy. I’m grown and I’m getting it in. Go judge someone else’s life please.

Fit/Face Of The Day 💃🏾 Learning how to mix patterns… what do we think? Plz be honest

Plz ignore the state of my mirror LOL

I’m trying to learn how to cohesively and effectively mix patterns. It’s not something I do often and I always feel a little hesitant or unsure.

I was inspired by the tights I saw in the last slide so I made my own version of it. Granted, not nearly as nice as the websites.

What do we think? What colour scarf works better? Vest or no vest? Or just no to the whole outfit?

I’ve been going back n forth between going back curly and keeping my sisterlocs. I personally feel like the curly suits me best but it’s a different vibe from the locs.

Why is the dating pool so atrocious? My gosh everybody has kids and wants more. I haven't heard a man with a deep voice in a long time. Where are the Adam's apples?

Dating/Relationships/Sex 🍑🍆 does anyone else notice a stark difference between the people you find on dating apps and those you meet organically? girl wtf

i have no idea how to word this in a way that doesn't sound absolutely insufferable.

i moved to a big city where apps are apparently the most popular way of meeting, so ive been on one for about 2.5 weeks. whoever said all women can date up on these apps cannot be serious. im above average, in shape, and make more than 98% of people my age since im in tech. when i tell you my likes (the number isnt the issue) are full of the biggest duds ive ever seen i wish this were a joke. i mostly dated organically in college and have attracted dudes of all races, and they're so significantly above the guys on these apps it's insane (finances, jobs, clear dating intentions, even looks which doesnt matter nearly as much as the other things). im giving guys that are typically below the people ive previously dated my number just for them not to say anything, or they're dropping off the face of the earth/unmatching in the middle of a conversation?? mind you im not even liking any of these people first. and why is this app inadvertently causing me to lower my standards? i kid you not the day after i joined the app i organically went on a date with a man from goldman sachs, and i couldnt stop laughing comparing that to my hinge matches and unmatching experience.

is this a normal experience? is it my age (early 20s)? should i just delete hinge? because im honestly just feeling more disrespected the longer im on there, but my friends said thats how they met most of the guys theyve dated post grad

Dating/Relationships/Sex 🍑🍆 Safe space 😂 What completely normal things men do that irrationally annoy you?

I’ll go first:

Going to the gym, getting a little bit of abs, and suddenly acting like they’re the prize of the century

The nonchalant personality Like bro, having emotions will not kill you

And the “yo bro” dap between two men who have known each other for approximately 4 seconds. You don’t even know this man .....

Have you had a style that felt like it just gets you? Like this is me. I have felt so free, creative, and confident. My friend asked me if I name my wigs and Idk if I could name her because, I am her. Lol. But if I did name her, it would be something cute.

Do you name your wigs? Do you have different names for the different styles?

Media & Entertainment 🍿🎶 Does anyone know of any Black campy films, shows, or theater productions I can watch?

I'm trying to study Black campy media for a senior capstone involving a Black queer Glam metal band turned into a comic to explore my Blackness and queerness. Does anyone know of any campy media that center Black protagonists and characters that isn't Blaxplotiation films from the 70s and 80s or have stereotypes? Any queer Black films would be great too. I have Sinners, Purple Rain, and Moonlight on my list currently.

Just Venting 😮‍💨 Recently promoted to assistant manager

So I was promoted the other day which Im so happy and excited about. But minutes after I was promoted and given cake and stuff from my manager. My coworker whos a lead associate, followed me into the break room to tell me I wasnt prioritzing a certain area of the store during my night shifts. Whatever, fine right but I was pissed that she chose that moment to tell me this. Instead of telling me the morning after I close. And it came off as nice nasty. Felt so shady and pissed me smooth off

I usually prefer synthetic hair for extensions and cuz it’s cheaper, but it got this feather crochet water wave hair for my vacation and it has really shown me what’s up.
They held up so beautifully that I wore them for 2 months, took them down, got my lock maintenance and reinstalled them all over again. Then I kept them in for another 7 weeks. Now I feel like they’ve been everywhere with me. ✨
I’m going to get some shorter ones next time since it’s hot af in the south and I think next time I will two strand twist them instead of braids for an easier take down.

Hi everyone ! I wonder if there are black people who could help me on this... Here is the thing, I've started using la Roche Posay mela B3 serum and it's darkening my complexion! Whenever I use it I get dark when I stop it my complexion goes back to normal! Am I the only one experiencing this?? Is it PIH? Is the niacinamide too much for my skin? It cost me 50+ $ I don't wanna throw it in the trash 😭 help! Is there any way I can avoid that effect?? Thanks in advance

Media & Entertainment 🍿🎶 Perception on Megan the stallion

Upvotes

I'm doing a paper on Megan the stallion and I came up on a post from the feminism sub Reddit about Megan and her music, now I guess Megan and her character can be left for opinion and is definitely up for interpretation but I did a post on there see how Megan's music is centered around relying on men / centering them and that she’s not a good symbol for woman based on that . Me personally , I've never got that from her IMO . Even from her earliest music she's always claimed her sexuality and her enjoyment from it as something of her own or even not wanting to have actual sex with men & just wanting them to get her off (lol), and besides from that she has had a good durability, she managed to be able to juggle her heightened career, global tours, and still got the time to stay in education (I believe she got a bachelor in health science at a UNI) so she's not a one way street if that makes sense. Not only that but from my own experience and a lot of people I know her music tends to make me feel very sexually confident as a person who grew up in purity culture & misogynoir heavy family and Its embedded in where I live as well . She doesn't make music that's so surrounded on pleasing men or being submissive to them but treats her sex as something that's about her and her only and takes pride in it and its helped me as I said before to not be ashamed, and to not care what anyone, man or woman has to say about sexuality. I also seen a post saying that White woman are heavily criticized for wanting to be sex symbols like alix, Sabrina carpenter and etc while black woman are seen as sex symbols which I 100% agree on and cant quite understand especially seeing as based on Megan's tour videos a lot of white people come to support her even older folk, so I'm just curious on how other people intake her music and character ? And maybe what are your critiques and etc! Not only that but I think it's worth noting that she went though months if not years of berating by both men and women , especially her own community for being shot in her foot by a man even though there was proof of her injury , I even saw a post on Reddit calling her a Ebony bedwench and ironically enough it was in kai cenats community, and yet ,she still carried and continues to carry herself gracefully and continues to be her and show up, by without being nasty to people like she should've been. she also routinely launches philanthropic initiatives supporting women, education, and mental health resources and stays combating misogynoir and violence against black woman . I guess I never really seen her as catering to men or caring about being liked by them, especially considering even when she wasn't as popular she would leave millionaire men the second they mistreated her or mistreated them back which a lot of public figures for women fail to do at the least in this day and age. I find her very self serving , confident , & sexually liberated and I love that for her. 🤷‍♀️

Interests & Hobbies 🪴🥾 What’s the worst book you’ve ever read?

Fellow readers,

Everyone always tells you about books they love and would recommend but what are some books you would tell people to stay away from? Or maybe a popular book you DNF’ed

I do not recommend

Just Our Luck - Denise Williams, I usually enjoy her books but this one pissed me off so bad! She ruined it with the ending. It already wasn’t great but I was so mad at that ending.

Layla- Colleen Hoover, this is the first and last book I ever read from this lady. I audibly laughed at one part because how silly it was to me

Just for the summer- Abby Jimenez, this one is popular in tik tok and I genuinely don’t get it. I didn’t like any of the lead characters and I just didn’t buy into the love story. It felt like a toxic love story to me.

How to Kill your Family- Bella Mackie, had a promising plot terrible and boring execution and even worse ending.

By the Book- Jasmine Guillroy, once again I have enjoyed her other books but this one was extremely boring and I had to force myself to finish it to meet my book count.

Blue Sisters - Coco Mellars, I just couldn’t find it in me to care for these characters so I DNF’ed it.

I have a few others that are probably controversial so I’ll keep those to myself lol!

Dating/Relationships/Sex 🍑🍆 Has Anyone Here Actually Dated a Hockey Player?

I’ve recently fallen down a rabbit hole watching WAGs of NFL, NBA, etc., and I hardly ever see black WAGs of hockey players. And hockey seems to be having such a big rise lately, especially with Heated Rivalry and Off Campus making the sport way more mainstream.
I’m actually into hockey and I LOVE the whole hockey aesthetic/lifestyle, the games, winter fashion, rink-side looks, traveling, all of it.
So I’m curious, has anyone here ever dated or talked to a hockey player? If so, what was your experience like? Are they actually different to date compared to basketball/football players?

Just Venting 😮‍💨 White woman boss just fired me. I improved her business and this is what I get.

I always kept to myself. Kept my personal business to myself. Did my work and clocked out. Set boundaries early with her and maintained them the whole time: don’t expect me to reply to messages when I’m not clocked in, I will not work extra shifts if I’m not available or working my other part time job, if I’m not comfortable doing something I’ll say it. Things like that. Even advocated for myself to get paid more because I was the most qualified applicant when I got hired (her words).

At the beginning of the job, like the first few months, I would give all these ideas that my boss would implement, took everything I suggested and used it to make the business better.

Then one day, 8 months into the job, I get called in for a “training” and instead it was a set up to fire me. I get fired for no reason provided by her. She shrugs her shoulders and says “sorry”. Take all my ideas and then discard me like I’m nothing. I can’t stand yt women and I am never working for one ever again.

Just Venting 😮‍💨 Councilmember’s texts prove he had ‘discriminatory intent’ in rejecting affordable complex near English Turn, developer claims in lawsuit - Verite News New Orleans

Thumbnail veritenews.org
12 Upvotes

In a 2023 text message, Councilmember Freddie King said he blocked a 278-unit apartment complex near his English Turn home because he didn’t “want dread heads and bonnet wear fools next to me.” But in a deposition, King said he was only satirizing protesters who were accusing the council of discrimination.

How come black elites can pander for votes and access , but once they have it they denigrate and discard us just like non-blacks in positions of power have a tendency to do? How do we hold people to account?
