•ㅤI found a simple method to manually install .crx ㅤㅤㅤㅤ extensions on Android browsers that support Chrome ㅤ extensions but "don’t have a built-in option to load/ㅤㅤ install a CRX file directly".

•ㅤI tested this method on Bare Browser, Titanium ㅤㅤㅤㅤ Browser, Elixir, Aerium Browser, and Vivaldi Snapshot, ㅤ and it worked for me.

Steps:

1. Download the `.crx` file of the extension you want to install.

2. Open "Files by Google" and find the downloaded `.crx` file.

3. Open your browser and go to:

`chrome://extensions`

1. Enable "Developer mode".

2. Keep the browser open and open "Files by Google in floating window / multi-window mode".

3. Long-press the `.crx` file . Salect it and "drag it onto the `chrome://extensions` page" in the browser.

4. Wait around 10 seconds.Don’t close the page immediately.

5. After a few seconds, the browser should show an “Add extension” confirmation.

6. Tap Add extension.

7. Done. The sideloaded extension should now appear in your extensions list.

•ㅤThe main trick is using Files by Google in ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ floating-window mode and dragging the CRX file ㅤㅤㅤ directly onto the extensions page.

This can be useful on Android browsers that support ㅤ extensions but don’t give you a normal “Load CRX” or ㅤ “Install CRX” button.

• I’ve attached a video showing the complete process, ㅤ especially the drag-and-drop part.

ㅤ Note: Only sideload extensions from sources you trust, ㅤ because extensions may be able to access browser ㅤ ㅤ data depending on the permissions they request.

As the title says, what is the consensus on ladybird as a browser option especially in the future?

I've gone through Chrome, Brave, Arc, Zen, Vivaldi and I keep switching for dumb reasons. Not because one is faster or more private but because I hit some small annoying thing and just rage install something else. Tab sync breaks, UI feels cluttered, the browser gets slow after a few weeks, whatever.

This might be the last straw for me and just so dangerous. Brave search seems to have a “news from the left” and “news from the right” feature cause of course crypto browser is ENLIGHTENED CENTRISM.

but news from the left is like CBS and CNN both billionaire oligarch media machines, and news from the right is gutter rags like Breitbart, Heritage Foundation and Breitbart.

Currently running Opera GX as I have for the past 4+ years but really want to switch for a few main reasons:

- Privacy concerns relating to Opera

- Media are a bit jittery, especially youtube. (can never get it to play smoothly, despite clearing cache and other tricks involving opera)

I was looking at swapping browsers, I don't usually have many tabs open at the same time so just need a good browser that:

- Has good privacy history

- Good media playback speed / smooth

- Bookmarks

- Integrated Password manager

- Don't need fancy features or other bloated things that sacrafice speed

The main ones I have been looking at from other posts have been Vivaldi, Firefox, Helium. Any suggestions or recs?

As you probably know, WP defaults its theme to light, even though it has an automatic detection mode. I keep setting it to system theme, but that only lasts a while before reverting to its default behaviour. I use the website in a few languages and I have to do it for each one.

I’ve seen a lot of people recommend both, but wBlock is relatively new, and uBlock Origin Lite is also a newer, lighter version of uBlock Origin. Which one would you recommend for Safari

For me, Dark Reader still works the best to turn websites to dark mode. Because it's resource heavy, I started using the flag "Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents". It works okay for the most part, but fails in places where Dark Reader works fine. The other issue with the flag is that one can't easily toggle it on or off--it requires a browser restart.

I've also tried Night Eye, but it's not much better than the flag.

Question--if the flag is enabled and Dark Reader is enabled, how do they interact with one another. Is it complementary or conflicting? Ideally, Dark Reader could allow Chrome to render dark and step in when needed. This could reduce DR's overhead. I know I can toggle DR, but just wondering if DR requires the flag to be disabled.

I did do some testing and the result was inconsistent. I am posing this question to those who understands what is going on under the hood. Thanks.

A few weeks ago I shared TiledBrowser, A Safari companion app for turning tabs into tiled workspaces.

I received some really useful feedback, particularly around making the Safari → TiledBrowser workflow smoother and making the workspaces themselves easier to manage.

I’ve just released 1.0.8, and quite a few of those suggestions made it into this release.

• Workspace tabs — quickly switch between saved layouts.
• Safari tab picker — choose 2–4 open tabs directly from the extension.
• Drag-to-reorder panes — one of the specifically requested improvements.
• Open in Safari — send an individual pane back to Safari.
• Better onboarding — clearer Safari extension setup.
• Improved sign-in handling — plus warnings where Google/Microsoft embedded authentication isn’t supported by WebKit.

There are still things I want to improve, particularly around session persistence where WebKit allows it, but the Safari ↔ TiledBrowser workflow feels considerably more complete now.

For those who tried the earlier version, I’d be interested to know whether these changes address the friction you ran into — and what you’d still change.

Hey everyone! I’ve been seeing a lot about Opera Air lately and I’m curious about people’s actual experience with it.

For those who have been using it for a while, how do you like it compared to regular Opera or other browsers? Is the whole “mindfulness” and distraction-free approach actually useful, or does it feel more like a gimmick?

Would you recommend switching to Opera Air as a daily browser? Any major pros/cons or issues I should know about?

So im looking for a new browser instead of chrome, not looking for anything crazy as long as the privacy and speed are alright (fairly good windows pc), im open to any options but was currently looking at firefox, zen, and vivaldi.

Like many browsers currently out there, most of them are (simple) shells around the chromium engine, which is one of the few engines currently available. This also suggests that most of the functionality of these browsers are the same, minus some tweaks here or there.

I like to know what if we could have a (new) engine, what new functionality that is hard to create today would you like to see implemented? Split/paned views? Different way to deal with tabs? Better tooling for web-developers? I'm curious on what we are currently missing in the browser ecosystem.
