How many wins are needed to make the postseason

The main two teams to catch are Arizona and San Diego. If both teams continue to win at their current pace they will finish at either 85 or 86 wins. The Pirates would need to go 19-5 in September to get to 86 wins, not impossible, but would require some unlikely heroes stepping up in big moments. The tie breaker scenario is weird, if it’s a 2 team tie breaker the first scenario to break the tie is head to head, but the pirates split the series with both the padres and diamondbacks, so it moves on to intradivisional record. The pirates currently sit at 22-21 vs the Central, the padres are at 22-17 vs the west and the D-backs at 28-18 vs the west. Pirates have 9 division games left, Padres have 13, Diamondbacks have just 6. It’s a long shot, but anything is possible

Just What IS The Deal With Triolo, Anyway?

Ya know, I honestly think the thing that frustrates people the most about him is that there are times when he looks like he could actually start for you. And I'm talking about longer stretches where he is hitting well above average for 150 or 200 at bats.

So....why can't he do that over a full season?

Is it because he's just a streaky hitter and you just have to live with that if you're going to have him on your team? Is it something mechanical with his swing that only comes into alignment every once in awhile (and again, you have to lump it the rest of the time)? Is it psychological? It does seem to be a pattern with him that he only really starts hammering the ball late in the season, by which point the Pirates are usually out of it. Or is baseball truly a game of inches, and Triolo is one of those guys who is right on the razor's edge of being good enough to be....well, pretty good, but he just can't do it often enough to ever really break through? Something else? What???

As of August 29th, the Pirates record is 66-71. How do you feel about that as to what you had expected before the season started?

Thus far, what has pleasantly surprised you about this year and what has been a disappointment in your mind about this year?

Pleasantly surprised: Griffin looks to be the real thing. Cruz is better at the plate than last year. Nick Gonzales' hitting. Lowe's power hitting. Ashcraft has been a pleasant surprise.

Disappointing: Henry Davis can't hit his weight, literally. The pitching staff. Ozuna was a big disappointment.

How do you feel about the Pirates 66-71 record thus far as to what you had expected before the season started?
