cat suddenly started peeing on rug

hope you enjoy the video. anyways, i gradually switched her over from Dr. Elsie’s litter to tofu litter the last 2 months, but once I went full tofu, i noticed she has been peeing on this spot on the rug, likely in the last two weeks. But she still poops in the litter. Her sister doesn’t seem to mind the tofu litter either. Otherwise Luna acts as normal and doesn’t seem like she’s in pain. I didn’t even notice the pee in the rug until I stepped in it this morning 😃

I’m going to bring back her old litter (which I’m not fond of since it was dusty and made both of us sneeze) and I let the vet know, is there anything else to do in the meantime? Is she in pain or upset or just belligerent and goofy? Is this something your cats have done?

is it good that my cat trilled at a new cat?

my roommates and I are in the process of beginning to introduce our respective cats (two in total). last night, my roommate let her cat out of her room (after about a month of staying in her room, I did the same) to explore the house on her own, and I, admittedly, forgot to put a towel down in front of my bedroom door.

she didn't go near the door at first and stayed downstairs but when I moved to my room, I noticed my cat was sitting by the door. after a minute he started trilling like crazy and meowing like "maOOW" and then it went into a trill. he trills ALL the time, it's probably his favorite form of communication. at first, I was confused and then I heard my roomies cat growling between his sets of trills, I promptly made sure to put a barrier between the cracks so her cat wouldn't be too distressed.

he's generally very friendly but I've never really had him officially meet another cat. his only other exposure (to my knowledge, I adopted him at 2yrs old) to cats is when I kept a friend's cat in my bedroom for a few hours while they had to handle some personal stuff at their place. he had an exp with a dog but it was an untrained chihuahua (toothless, harmless) who scared with him with his barking. but afterwards, he just rubbed up against me and purred and wanted me to pet him.

my question is basically the title, is it good that he was trilling and meowing?

Why is my cat obsessed with sniffing my other cat's behind?

Post image
430 Upvotes

I have two cats both 5 years old, both boys both without balls. They're not related. One of them keeps trying to intensely push his nose into my other cat's behind to smell it like a dog. The other cat never does this and also doesn't seem to enjoy it. His butt is clean, I checked. It's just weird and I've never seen cats do this.

Is my cat just a freak or was he a dog in his past life? Or is there something up here?

the fluffy smaller cat is 2mo, while the shorter haired bigger cat is 4mo. is this fighting or playing? their tails kind of flick around and the 2mo makes small meows and occasionally hisses but seems to also engage. their ears aren't usually flat and they chase each other around the room. my older cat backs off sometimes at the 2mo's cries but not always. pls lmk if i should keep them separate more!!

Cat keeps smacking her lips, and has lost fur around lips. Not using the litterbox frequently. I'm 26 btw.

TLDR: So I've had my cat for about 15 years now. From New York. She's only developed this bad habit of smacking her lips, and when I noticed, she had lost a good amount of fur around her lips. And can't eat properly. She started doing it more frequently ever since she couldn't use the litter box properly.

Can't eat the same, and has become more lethargic. I don't know what to do.

Is my cat blind in his left eye?

My cat was recently in a fight with another cat and got his eyelid scratched, he couldn't open his eye fully and now after a few days it looks like this.

UPDATE: Got back from the vet, they said his eye was directly scratched and is infected. They gave my antibiotic drops and some sort of vitamin drops for regeneration that I need to apply 2 times a day. The cat is fine, thank you everyone.

3 kittens and their ravenous chomps...food help

We rescued three male kittens. They are very healthy, happy, and probably due for their snippings soon. The vet advised us to feed them Purina one/science diet. We feed them four times a day, one half pate can to each kitten. But it's breaking our bank a little.

Is this too much? Not enough? They're very active and healthy and I know dry food has more calories- we have tried slowly introducing them to dry food but they turn their nose up at it. Money doesn't matter as long as they're healthy- i expected three kittens to be a bit of work- but I want to know if there's any way I can keep them happy while maybe getting more chomps for my buck.

We also got them a water fountain.

Their names are Stoat(marble), Edwin(black), and Ramses(gray.)

Cat food allergy getting worse

Thumbnail

My 11 month old cat has been having skin issues for the past 6 months. She gets these huge scabs around her mouth, chin, above her eyes and behind her ears and occasionally on the back of her neck.

When it started out, we were told it was cat acne and treated it with wipes, cleanings, new bowls, new food that was less greasy and new water bowls.

Then it got worse so we took her to a new vet. The vet treated her for mites as he was concerned it was demodex. So he gave her nexguard and tresaderm drops for her ears and scabs. We did the drops for a week, then stopped for a week and then resumed for another week. When using the drops, they go away. But they came back so we took her back and he treated her for demodex mites again. And told us to do another round of tresaderm.

The scabs and hair loss came back AGAIN so we started her in a food elimination diet using HA purina. She is on week 2 out of a 8-12 week trial.

Her scabs and patches of fur loss is overwhelming. Poor baby has such bad scabs that she’s picking them off and having bleeding wounds on her face. He told us to continue the tresaderm for now. But I’m just so concerned. He said he does not think it is FIV at all and is almost certain it’s a food allergy. She was tested for ring worm and it was negative. No blood test done yet.

Does anyone have any advice or insight they can offer? We’ve been to the vet 3 times in the last 1 1/2 months and we will continue to take her back until we have answers but I’m wondering if anyone can think of anything that maybe we’re missing.

Litter Box Smell!

I have one cat, and currently use a stainless still litter box, Litter Genie, and clay unscented litter. I go out of town often and pay a lot of money for cat sitters. When I’m gone, my roommate says the house starts to smell like litter. When im home it gets deep cleaned weekly (obvi scooped 2-3 times a day). I’m not sure if there’s a better system to use, but it’s so not fair to my roommate so I’m looking to fix this ASAP. Not sure if something like the Litter Robot would help, or make it worse. Or maybe I just need to cat sitters to do full litter changes. Advice desired!
