my roommates and I are in the process of beginning to introduce our respective cats (two in total). last night, my roommate let her cat out of her room (after about a month of staying in her room, I did the same) to explore the house on her own, and I, admittedly, forgot to put a towel down in front of my bedroom door.
she didn't go near the door at first and stayed downstairs but when I moved to my room, I noticed my cat was sitting by the door. after a minute he started trilling like crazy and meowing like "maOOW" and then it went into a trill. he trills ALL the time, it's probably his favorite form of communication. at first, I was confused and then I heard my roomies cat growling between his sets of trills, I promptly made sure to put a barrier between the cracks so her cat wouldn't be too distressed.
he's generally very friendly but I've never really had him officially meet another cat. his only other exposure (to my knowledge, I adopted him at 2yrs old) to cats is when I kept a friend's cat in my bedroom for a few hours while they had to handle some personal stuff at their place. he had an exp with a dog but it was an untrained chihuahua (toothless, harmless) who scared with him with his barking. but afterwards, he just rubbed up against me and purred and wanted me to pet him.
my question is basically the title, is it good that he was trilling and meowing?
