Deadline Day!

Deadline day tomorrow! Do we feel we need any more bodies? I personally think Doug has invested a lot, and while I would have loved our LB acquisition to have a bit more experience than Mfuni I’m glad we have someone. I would be happy with the squad as is tbh, and time to let Frank really go to work getting a tune out of them. Been a disappointing start but we’ve had plenty of them in recent years. Get Man City out the way and we can start picking points up on the regular

Other than a backup LB and LW the squad is good, the biggest headache we have is the starting line up and tactics.

I think Mfuni can play LB no? As for LW I’m fairly sure Tchaouna can play left or right. He hasn’t exactly inspired confidence yet but for the money we paid I imagine we’ll persevere. With Tats, EMC and *winces* BTA as wing options I’d be surprised if one came in? Haji even gets the occasional run out on the left

And Cherif is a Haji Wright style striker/inside left, right? So guessing we'll see him out there at some point

Haji was great on the left under Robins but Frank seems to prefer him in striker position only

I think we played Tchaouna on the left in preseason but he’s really a RW. As others have said, Cherif is ST/LW so I hope we might see some of him soon. You have to assume that was the intention for him, along with Mfuni… as there’s been no explicitly left sided investment otherwise.

Get lampard match fit and it’ll be like strachen… 40+ and still better than the other players

I think we will see more exits that acquisitions. One thing that jumps out is BTA isnt the left sided player we need

I think we’re done by the sounds of it, but left wing is the big one for me. EMC has had 7 separate injury absences in the last couple of years and 3 because of his hamstrings. And the side is lacking pace on the counter. Cherif and Wright coming in could make that look a bit different though.

If that is to be it, you have to say it’s been a good window. Whether it’s enough is another matter but hopefully one win leads to a few as the young lads grow in confidence.

We’re linked with Melvin Bard who’s a LB from OGC Nice

Came here to comment this. Europa league experience, has played a lot for Nice, 25 years old 5ft 8 for anyone wondering

Melvin bard looks good and Everton were also after him

Looks like the Mudryk loan rumours are still floating around. As a wildcard signing, I'm all for it if Chelsea pick up the bulk/all of his wages. There's a chance he'd be a disaster, but the upside if he finds form could be huge! 😂

I don't expect anyone else in. The questions will all be about who leaves as we have surely way too many players now.

An out and out striker!

We needed LW cover last season. Maybe the man city kid can do a job. (I can't believe Hamer goes there)

Maybe an experienced midfield maestro, who tf that is Idk. Maybe need to give onyeka a run ahead of grimes

u/Nudbs Hamer 1d ago

Reckon we get anyone in? I’d hope we’d have brought in a lb and maybe a winger by now…

I mean sure it would be great to just spend spend spend but I really don’t want us gambling the long term of the club on this one season. We’ve spent a lot. I’d be okay with what we have, let Frank do what he needs to with these boys, let some of them go out on loan or sell them, and see where we’re at in January

Dovin is surely off on loan, no? I would also think Kitching and Lati are potential loans with all the new CB’s. Wouldn’t be surprised if Raphael, Bidwell and Woolfenden end up being sold.

Based on the performances in the first 2 games it is a new RB we desperately need, not a LB. Mve looks way out of his depth

Yeah been one of the least pleasant things to watch so far tbh, I love Milan

I can't help but feel he misses Sakamoto. Even in the Championship he looked a bit lost without him.

Personally it's people out the door now. I'd really like to loan moves for Eccles and Kitching, Lati I think we keep as a versatile squad player and all round good lad.

BTA and Woolf are perm sales for me. Don't see where BTA fits in our lineup, and Woolf is outside our pecking order now.

Question mark for Simms, too. Not fair to keep dropping him when others are fit or back from injury, and unsure if he is ahead of Cherif.

If Balogun is a player available we need to going for him. The same goes for Mudryk and any other current or former good Chelsea player who is available.

If we’re talking positions then left-back and a forward. We were tearing up fullbacks last season but I don’t see us doing that so we need a consistent goalscorer.

Arsenal sold Balogun for £35m… apparently Monaco want £40m. I don’t think we’re in that race somehow

2

u/googlemailcom WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE 1d ago

I saw Everton were looking to offer £20m but your fees look more realistic

Is Cherif injured? I thought he was gonna be the guy with Awoniyi as more of a backup tbh. He played a part against Plymouth but wasn’t even on the bench v Hull

1

u/googlemailcom WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE 1d ago

I don’t think he’s match fit. I think he did individual training when he first arrived. What do you think of his performance against Plymouth?

2

u/ApprehensiveAlgae476 1d ago

He didn't do a lot one half chance that was cleared

1

u/Consistent-Soup3720 Rudoni 1d ago

Didn’t get to watch it sadly, I live in Toronto these days so it kicked off bang in the middle of my workday. If it’s a big league game I might move stuff around to watch but Plymouth in the Carabao? I’m good lol

1

u/Consistent-Soup3720 Rudoni 1d ago

What about yourself? I didn’t read much about how he did

2

u/googlemailcom WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE 1d ago

I only watched the first half as I went to play football during the second half and he didn’t start the game
