All the teams on 0 points
There is a world in which Spurs, Palace and Fulham are all poor enough to be relegated. I think we could certainly have a chance against all of the teams on 0 points, except maybe Villa but itās hard to judge them, and I think including spurs is fair because spurs. Itās too early to judge our season because itās too early to judge anyoneās season. For example, everyone saying Hull is basically safe, while not unreasonable, ignores the fact that 10 years ago in the 16/17 season they beat a Champions league team on the first day of the season and a relegation rival on the second and went down anyway, and in just the past 3 years here are the teams that have lost their first two games and survived:
25/26: None
24/25: Crystal Palace (12th), Everton (13th), Wolves (16th)
23/24: Wolves (14th), Everton (15th)
The point is, thereās 3 teams we are above, 4 others in the same situation as us points-wise and there are 36 games to go. So thereās no need to worry that things canāt improve.

Dougās End of Window Sale
Itās going to be the end of an era tomorrow as the squad that carried us through the last three seasons breaks up. Pretty clear that Kitch and Lati are off. Bidders, Eccles and Simms too I suspect. Thatās basically half the side from the FA Cup semi-final. Weāre drawing a line and moving on.

Help with jersey choice
I like to buy a game day jersey for the teams I like to follow in the EPL. As this will be the first time I watch Coventry in the EPL, I'm unfamiliar with the players. Can someone suggest a player I can wear proudly for the 26/27 season?

Deadline Day!
Deadline day tomorrow! Do we feel we need any more bodies? I personally think Doug has invested a lot, and while I would have loved our LB acquisition to have a bit more experience than Mfuni Iām glad we have someone. I would be happy with the squad as is tbh, and time to let Frank really go to work getting a tune out of them. Been a disappointing start but weāve had plenty of them in recent years. Get Man City out the way and we can start picking points up on the regular

Leo ĆstigĆ„rd on how Coventry City can stop Erling Haaland: āIf you make him angry, youāre f***ed!ā
Two matches into the Premier League season and itās two defeats for Coventry City. But a win is around the corner.Ā Letās have a look... oh bloody hell, itās away to Manchester City next.
At The Phoenix, I spoke to Leo Ostigard recently. A full feature on the former Sky Blues loanee is coming for subscribers soon, but while I had him I asked a simple question - How can Frank Lampard stop Erling Haaland?
Ostigard knows Haaland well as an international teammate. I figured we could use all the help we could get so it was worth asking.
You can see what he had to say in this piece on the site now, which I have made free for all to read. Here it is:
Like I said, the full Ostigard interview will be available for subscribers soon.
Please do take a look and if you like what you see, please consider subscribing.
Thanks all,
Richard

Does Tats have to start?
Bloody hell, that was a disappointing one, wasn't it? Important to keep perspective and remember there's 36 games left and all that, but still - we played a must-win match against a side that came for a draw and we ended up losing.
One point for me - I thought we looked far more threatening when Tats came on. He attacked directly down the line and either crossed or when he did cut back he then put a cross in with his left. I know Loum is taking some pelters at the minute (and I do think there is a decent player in there) but he was too passive too often.
Saying that, Sakamoto had to make that foul in the build up to the Hull goal. He was just too nice to do that, unlike Hull who were full of nastiness and would happily take a yellow card to stop an attack (that's not a criticism, we need a bit of that).
But, for me, Sakamoto has to start. What do you guys think?
Oh, and don't worry, it may be Man City next but I interviewed Leo Ostigard on Friday and he's given me some advice on how Cov can stop Haaland. That will be up on ThePhoenix.news today!

š£ļø DISCUSSION The amount of weaklings losing control of their bowels after just two games is shocking
I know us football fans are infamously fickle, and that we have not got off to a good start, but after 25 years waiting for thisā¦FUCK MEā¦the negativity.
We are only two games in. Can we please stop acting like this is some kind of team implosion?
Opta rated our first five games as the joint hardest set of opening fixtures for any team in premier league history, ever.
Yes we should have beaten Hull at home, but we drew 0-0 with Hull at home last season too. We also drew at relegated Oxford and failed to beat bottom-of-the-league Sheffield Wednesday at home. We still won the league by 11 points.
Opta previously analysed teams that lost their first three premier league games.
34 teams have done that and 12 were relegated. So about 65% survived despite beginning with three straight defeats.
If we are on 0 points at 5 or 6 games, then we have a problem.

š£ļø DISCUSSION Should there be a rival watch match thread for other Premier League fixtures?
Weāre playing a lot of unfamiliar opponents this season due to the promotion and I thought it would be interesting to discuss opponents who are also relegation candidates or who we are due to play next (or all games) with other fans who are watching the game.

š£ļø DISCUSSION (reasonable discussions only) - what do you think needs to change for our boys?
Honestly, I would not be fussed at all about being relegated if we can all honest-to-god say that the team gave it their all and made it difficult for the opposition to come away with a result.
Thatās the one thing I think has been disappointing to me. Theyāve been playing without conviction and belief. You can see it in the way the team plays safe passes, takes too many touches and makes basic mistakes at key moments in the game. If they fix that, youāll see this team pick up some points.

STOP THE COUNT
Not as bad as Spurs! Weāre not as bad as Spurs!
r/ccfc • u/Own_Contribution6186 • 3d ago
I know itās shit, and Iām disappointed too, butā¦
If WE are negative then what the fuck are the players going to do? We can be disappointed, angry, but we canāt be hopeless. Obviously a poor result but letās not believe that the seasonās already over. Empty seats today, for whatever reason, definitely didnāt help. We 100% have the ability to survive as long as we have that belief. We REALLY need to get behind the team. We have worked for decades to get back here, climbed out of the trenches to reach the summit, but we canāt jump off the side of it because of a patch of ice. 2 games is all it took for us to start slating the players, slating the manager, when we need to BACK them.
As the chant goes, where were we when we were shit, and where will we be if weāre shit? What good does complaining do? Youāre a supporter of Coventry City, fucking support the team.

š£ļø DISCUSSION When does our first win happen
Okay so weāve lost the first two not a disaster but people would have wanted us to pick up points at home to Hull.
So now knowing what we know where is our first win.
Next away is Man City
Then Brighton at Home
Villa in the cup.
