Are his feet healthy?
I learned that chinchillas feet can get irritated or wounded and I just want your opinions if his feet look normal or if I should get that checked out by the vet. Thank you

About a week ago I shared some ink illustrations of Elder Dusty, a chinchilla character in my anthropomorphic fantasy novel, Capyhero: https://www.reddit.com/r/chinchilla/s/mCjIKKXHcR
Folks here seemed to like it so I thought I’d share some process sketches and the before/after!
This is a fun moment where our venerable Elder Dusty is enjoying a dust bath, as chinchillas do 😊.

Hi, I wrote some days ago about my brother's chinchilla, that he didn't care about anymore. I went and got her the day after and found a nice cage on marketplace (extremely lucky), her old cage sucks. She seems much happier now, she is full with energy and is much more confident!
I bought new pellets for her, that I'm slowly introducing, since her first food looked nasty and she didn't even like it.
Since I got her on a Sunday, I haven't put any toys in her cage (already ordered). She didn't have any toys in her old home, I only took the branches with me.
I will add some pictures of her now and her earlier home (might show new cage when I'm done with it). And yes, the old cage has screws here and there for some reason, I'm surprised that she haven't hurt herself!

Hi! I need a wheel for my newer gal (she’s a BIG girl). Yes I can afford a brand new wheel, I would never have exotic pets or any pets for that matter without being able to fully provide their full care and enrichment. I was just wondering if anyone had any secondhand wheel options since a good metal wheel is pricey lol. My smaller girl has the wheel she came with from her rescue and it works really well for her but I’m worried it would hurt my big girls back since she’s a huge chinchilla.
I’ll order a nice pink chin surfer if no one has any suggestions but just curious!

Normally I purchase dried apple and dried apple branches. But can we make it or gather it ourself?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a loving and experienced home for my female chinchilla in Las Vegas, NV. 🐭💕
I love her very much, but due to personal circumstances, I’m looking for someone who understands chinchillas and can give her the care and love she deserves.
She is about 4 months old. I can also include her cage and some of her supplies.
I would really like to find someone experienced with chinchillas and who will treat her like family. Please message me if you’re seriously interested and tell me a little about yourself and your experience with chinchillas. ❤️

Sophie was actually supposed to be one of my new mascots with Grumpy but then I just, never settled on just one chin and use whomever wants to be handled that day LMAO.

As much as I love my boys, I am currently needing to move and can't bring them with me. I have a 4 year old and 2 year old. The four year old lost his left hind leg last year and has cataracts on his left eye (I have eye drops I give him every day). Other than that both are healthy and active chins. Unfortunately, they do fight, so I have them separated. I have a two tier ferret nation for them and plenty of ledges/toys.
I am looking for someone with experience with chinchillas or has at least done their research. I will provide everything I have including the sets of fleece covers. Please comment and let me know if you are interested. Thank you.

Just want to brag about my sweet little 2 YO boy who loves to stick to my leg or have his entire face touching mine 🥰 I love him so much. He is always grooming me and sleeping on my legs. Sometimes when I am taking a nap he will come and sit next to my face as if he’s guarding me. Not sure what I’ve done to have such a friendly chin but I’ve had him since he was 3 months old and I let him out to free roam for 5-7 hours a day with access to his own toilet, food, and water.
He is however, really mean to my partner. He will chase and bite him whenever he sees him. I read that it could be territorial but it’s really upsetting my partner. Wondering if anyone has tips on how to overcome this as we have tried everything (only giving treats via partner, not approaching him, talking softly, etc)

if you guys remember Bean, she got a hole burned through her ear by the vet but she’s finally been feeling like her usual naughty self lately :) for awhile she wouldn’t stay out of her cage for more than a few minutes at a time but she’s been hanging out a bunch today

Hello everyone!
My boyfriend has a cutie pie chinchilla named Chubbs! During his most recent dust bath, we saw a knot right above his tail. We attempted to gently pull on it to release the knot but not all of the knot came out. Chubbs was not too happy and kept squirming when we tried to release his knot.
We also noticed a small knot developing on his head but we are unsure of how to attempt the "fur slip" method in fear of hurting him since it is his head.
Any tips or tricks? We really want to help him but do not want to put any stress on him. Please help!

Hello, I’d like to know if I can keep two males on one side of the enclosure and a female on the other; the divider is solid, but I want to know if the two males might end up fighting over the female because of the scent.

Hello,
So for context my chinchilla got diagnosed with malo a few months ago and got his first teeth grinding 2 months ago. Ever since that appointment every time I take him out without fail he jumped on top of me, squats, and pees on me. What’s with the change in behavior and how can I stop it? It’s very frustrating and makes his out of cage time become an anxiety filled chore instead of a fun time like it used to be.
Thanks.

Hi! I just bought a pack of toys from petsmart (full cheeks chew variety pack) until I’m able to get my girl some better ones. I’m aware that not all of the toys in the pack are safe for chinchillas, but I’m unsure which ones they are because I don’t know what the materials look like. The first picture is a lineup of the toys I’m having trouble with, and the second picture includes all the listed materials on the packaging. If anyone is able to help me figure out which ones are safe for her, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

hi everyone! i’m based in EU, specifically ireland. this year we experienced a bit of an unexpected heatwave during the summer, and it reached 30°, this made me severely uncomfortable for my chins and actually a nervous wreck as all A/Cs were sold out. as we close on summer, i’m trying to do my best and find an affordable AC unit. can anyone recommend any good ones? preferably portable ones, under about 300€. i just want to be prepared for next summer.
