How to run old mags on evo sportster?

Hello everyone, might be overthinking it a bit but I finally got my hands on some mag wheels for a steal. Chrome, bearings, and seals will come out prior to powder so their current condition isn’t too concerning.

This setup came off of an older bike, and I want to run them on my evo (sportster) chopper. My question is do I bore the axle to run modern closed bearings, do I run the conversion kit, or can I run timken bearings on a factory 3/4 axle? This is my first time and I’m having trouble finding forums/info trails on the internet on what’s best.

Added a photo of the “conversion” kit, old timken to newer sealed setup. Never heard of that until today, anyone running it?

Stock timken bearings work . 3/4” axles.

Wheel spacers will probably be different from what you’re taking off anyhow so it doesn’t matter the year

Where are you dude? I'm in the Northeast and I've got a dozen pair that look better than that I'll give you. Those things are shot.

I got a good price on them, I’m going to get them stripped and powder coated. I couldn’t see any damage, pitting, nothing like that so I believe they’re salvageable. If so, I will have gotten a killer deal. If not, not an extreme loss but the guy and I will probably have to chat 😂

I’m located in eastern NC, do you have photos of them or anything? People down here are selling them for 500-1000$ in worse condition man. It sucks

Gotta figure out the timken setup first, they look pretty simple

You just have to watch out if you're running a dual disc front end because the rotor spacing is slightly different. If you're running a single disc or no front brake it's not an issue

You may wanna try and get those bearings out before you make any decisions because it looks like someone started tearing shit up and gave up and now you have them

I recently made a purchase and found out about a similar company after seeing reviews online, ended up being okay.

Timken has been used for a while, tried and true. Just was looking for an easier setup.

What’s going on

I actually just learned about the “conversion” option, seems to be the easiest route for 100 bucks. Been called lazy but I prefer a sealed bearing setup.

Always see chiller guys with sweet mags, sometimes gotta know something about something! 😂
