As a non us person, we have lost faith in it long ago. Trump is a symptom of the issue, not the cause.
Most of us in the eu here like individual Americans. You guys deserve better politicians. The USA is so far gone, I don't think there is a coming back from this. It's such a shame.

The American empire is dying. They won't recover. The oligarchs took over politics and media and their main interest is to turn America into a vassal state which they control. Whether or not it is now destroying itself doesn't matter to them as long as they can rule over the ashes of the former world power. People like Jeff Bezos don't care if America is doing well, they just want to rule like feudal lords. Our main interest should be to not follow in their footsteps or we will lose our democracies as well. We, too, deserve better politicians than Merz or the russian puppets from the AFD...

The VAST majority of eligible voters have been convinced nothing matters, or that evil is actually always the goal, or sometimes evil is smart, or that voting for things to be better is counter productive if an immediate socialist utopia isn't on the ballot
Less than 14% of the voters are actually hearing and seeing this and thinking it's a problem

“Voters” gave Biden the opportunity and he squandered it. Slow walked every federal Trump investigation and hampered the DoJ by having Garland as AG who cared more about procedure and being nice to republican colleagues instead of stamping out a fascist wannabe.
Sat on the Epstein files for four years. Gave up things like student loans at first resistance.
The moment Israel told Biden to jump, Biden dropped everything he could, campaign promises or not, and fully dedicated his office to getting Israel every weapon and diplomatic cover needed and more (only for Israel to go around and help get Trump elected) What accomplishments did Biden between the end of 2023 to the end of 2024? Nothing. Then when Harris came around, he had the gall to insist about having no daylight between her and him and she was stupid enough to follow it.
If this was a student council election or any sort of mock UN club, the Biden analogue would be laughed out of the room for their incompetence.

Similar thing happened in I think Netherlands? Denmark? during the first trump presidential term - their newly appointed USA ambassador? was asked about things he had previously said in an interview. He claimed it was false but they had the video. He refused to answer the question & refused to take questions from that specific journalist.
But then when all the other journalists were asked their question, they all used the same one he refused to answer!
I think when he tried to have that question denied/off limits, they said this isn't USA, we require an answer? Did you lie & why? Etc.
He didn't last long & was replaced soon after.

He said she was wrong and didn't remember what his "real" answer was. He didn't skip a beat or hesitate at all. So, it's a cool clip but there's no reaction from him at all. Someone posted a longer version in the comment. Lying is just so natural for these people that being confronted with the truth doesn't bother them at all.

Turns out healthcare tied to your job plus at will employment and no safety net is a great way to keep people in line.
They might organize and find courage as a group if they got together and built bonds of trust and shared hopes and grievances , but work takes up most waking hours, and during your daily leisure hour, video games and phone scrolling are pretty addictive. Americans are extremely isolated, socially.
