I know folks who are out, but not to their family, because their family is in the South, and it might as well be another world where the entire society is a garment cut from the fabric of hate. It’s just easier to never say a word than to try to get through to them, to the point where doing otherwise would put these folks in mortal danger.

As a black lesbian atheist with an education I have been the girlfriend in this situation and I stand for absolutely everything these sort of people hate. I have been physically abused and spat on by a girls parents but this was in the 1980’s and 40 years later nothing has really changed for the bigots. We live in hope but I suspect the real change might not come in my lifetime.

So thankful my parents weren't bigots when I was growing up (or after, although dementia messed my dad up a lot before he passed away) even though the majority of my childhood was spent in a conservative Southern city. And unfortunately it sucks hard because I'm still here after years of trying to get away.

I was born in arkansas. I was told if I ever dated a black man that I would be disowned. They would also use the n word and slurs for gay people a lot. Im so glad I got out of there as a teen. Michigan was a way better place to live. Way more accepting of people.

Grew up in the southwestern part of Arkansas in the 80s and 90s. I live here in the Central part now and it seems better. But it is Arkansas, so you know.

I lived in the northern center part of Arkansas. It was and is still riddled with meth heads, racists, and homophobes. The cops in my home town push meth and often side with the kkk in that area.

I do feel like Google.com does a significant better job than Google keyboard for some reason, I just feel ashamed when I have to do that. Necessary is a word I almost always have to use speech to text ( I did it here). My wife just asked me what 2064/3 was and I had that answered in under a second, I don't know why I can't remember how to spell basic words.

Speaking of exhaustion, do you know that the origin of the "lazy southerners" and the related "lazy black people" stereotypes may have come from a hookworm epidemic which affected something like 50% of the population in the 1800s, one of the side effects of which was exhaustion? Kids in the south pretty much all ran around barefoot, and outhouses were in short supply, so kids would step in shit sometimes, and that's how you get hookworm.
And it's not that this was unknown, either. Once they figured this out, Rockefeller volunteered to pay for the digging of outhouses, and there was a movement to get kids to wear shoes.
What happened next may sound very familiar to you. Conservative southern groups formed groups like the "National League of Medical Freedom" and the "American Medical Liberty League" and campaigned that yankees were coming to interfere with their proud way of life.

Jesus died for all sins. I don't remember him saying that homosexuality is or isnt a worse sin*** than taking advantage of your fellow man to be a billionaire, or voting for a candidate who is an alleged rapist so that you can pay less taxes on your ill-gotten money.

Two parts:
- Jesus never calls homosexuality a sin and does call on everyone to love each other. The old testament (leviticus especially) states clearly that it is a sin, however there are explicit passages that state the new testament is a replacement for the old, not an addition. (See Hebrews 8:13)
- Being rich is not a sin in the old or new testament. Greed, exploitation, and exaultation of wealth are sins and it's clearly stated that wealth is an impediment to being close to god. That said, there's no reason to think someone like Dolly Parton didn't go to heaven just because she had wealth.

It's different than a sin. A sin is an active step away, wealth is a barrier to getting closer. There are even parts of the Bible that describe wealth as a blessing and the recipients good. The sin is coveting said wealth.
“the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils” Timothy 6:10.
The love of money is the sin, not the money itself. But having a lot of it means that you are more likely to love it/commit other sins.

"blaspheming against the holy spirit" is so vague, it has been a point of contention in the Churches entire history. If being gay is denying God's creation, then surely you could argue that being openly gay is "blaspheming against the Holy Spirit."
I didnt ask you what sins were "unforgivable". I asked you whether or not you view being gay as a sin. Still waiting for an answer.

You took three messages to say explicitly what you meant. This was deliberately vague, because you wanted to package your message of hate in a lovey-dovey package. Don't bullshit a bullshitter, I've tried "making disciples of all nations" before, too.
If all sins are equally forgivable besides denying Christ as savior, then being gay is exactly as bad as supporting a rapist as your leader. So, my initial analysis of your first message is correct. You are being theologically inconsistent (i notice you edited your first message to account for this). If you believe that being gay is a sin against god, and you believe that denying the Spirit is unforgivable, just cut out the middle man and admit you are on the side of hate.
Or, you can admit that your knowledge of the scripture is flawed, as you are human. And so, you can reject an interpretation when it leads you to hate. Because you know that God is not in such a message.
I'm sure you'll follow up with some "love the sinner, hate the sin" malarkey. Do yourself a favor. Think more critically than that.
