Ive been married ten years and never once seen an interaction like this in real life. The comic artist self insert has been drawn as legitimately conventionally attractive and this os totally unrealistic.

lol exactly. I have a friend that likes girls who look borderline underfed and also have coworkers who would say the girl in the post is gross and too skinny! Just be respectful and actually try communicating….but I know most peoples communication skills are abysmal these days, so I don’t know.

Most everyone has something that they are into. For many that is appearances. The issue with those tate bro types is that they are shitty human beings that treat others like garbage.
It's a small distinction, but it matters. It keeps people from hating on people that dont deserve the hate. Especially when some of the worst human beings I've met are absolutely charismatic manipulative shitheads that get away with their abuse towards others just because they smooth talk their way around it to others.
I've known a few guys that would equate skinny with attractiveness. They'd brag about how a girl's hip bone would leave bruises on them after sex. I never understood it myself.
I know plenty that want only skinny, petite women. Then they show off their girlfriends and I'm like "Have you checked her ID? Because she looks like a child."
Look while the way men act over women with any sort of body fat is fucking disgusting that does not give you free range to go body shaming smaller women back like that. Constantly being treated like a child is also a daily struggle for petite women as much as it is a struggle to be a larger woman and be constantly shamed.

Not necessarily. In my 42 years i met several dudes that thought only underweight girls are attractive. Some of them were quite fat themself, but only had (had, not wanted) very very skinny GF's and left them should they gain some weight (and shamed them because of it).
Man, I cannot for the life of me understand insisting on a standard that you yourself do not want to match. Like, I get it with things like height, eye color, etc. Those you cannot change. But wanting someone fit while not being ready to put matching effort into your own fitness? That has to feel wrong, no?

Her cubbyness is drawn very flatteringly. Every body type tends to look better drawn.
She is wearing a shirt and jeans 2 sizes too small, and is carrying a lot of weight (granted, mostly in the right places) it would look goofy in real life, even if you are into thicc/cubby.
Not a reason to be an asshole, but not everyone would find it attractive.
This whole comic series is designed to set the lowest common bar for the guy getting the conventionally attractive girl so that readers can self-insert in his place. He's literally hitting on someone who is in a shitty emotional place right here and being presented as a good guy for it; in real life that timing is kinda predatory. Her suffering here exists just to enable him getting a chance for meeting a very low bar.
I think your perception of what is "conventionally" attractive is off. Especially with older conventions, even having overly large breasts would be considered outside of societal approval.
9 times out of 10, if theres a "fat" girl in a comic in this sub, its a girl thats not actually fat lol. Chubby isnt the same as fat imo. I'd love to see some actual fat people in comics but sadly it does not happen very often at all.
