Wouldn’t that make it worse in a real life situation?
Like I’d love to shoot my shot with a girl like that but wouldn’t that just feel like sleazy coming on to a woman like that immediately after a hard time like that?
Maybe I just have a nervous mentality.
•
u/Neutral-Feelings 37m ago
No, you're right. It'd be... Weird. I mean, offering your friendship or just talking with her would be nice. But asking for a date probably isn't the way to go.
•
u/DarkJjay 21m ago
Going on a date with someone isn't a big deal, unless you'd only go on one if you really truly absolutely get to have sex. Dates, especially first dates, are just about getting to know each other and having a good time. It shouldn't have to be a big deal.
•
u/Lord-Pepper 51m ago
Kinda loses the message when your character is conventionally attractive and the 1st dude is being psychotic
•
u/Alternative_Mode9972 11m ago
Yeah, like she was cute from the get go. I mean it doesn’t have to be an ugly duckling situation necessarily but the message would probably be better reciprocated

I know the point of this comic is the nsfw patron, but its really tiring to see literally the same "dark hair+glasses=ugly" trope that Tina Fey was already mocking like 2 decades ago on 30 rock.
Not to mention this reads like a Dobson comic
•
u/RainOnTheCoast 7m ago
"Here's a chance to self-insert as the guy getting the hot gamer girl" is a bit of a toxic set-up here, and none of this series by the artist that I have seen shows anything with more depth then an uninteresting man barely meeting a very low bar and getting an incredibly attractive girlfriend for honestly very little effort. I don't know that the artist even recognizes that presenting him as picking her up when she's in a vulnerable state is not a healthy example.

Plot twist guy at the end is a psycho and is exhibiting the first stage of manipulation by love bombing

u/silverist 1h ago
First guy was the wingman for the second.
•
•
u/3lizab3th333 49m ago
Ngl I’ve had guys try this on me before. My response was to ham up how ugly and undesirable I must be, and tell guy number 2 that he doesn’t need to debase himself by being with me, then not letting him argue/lovebomb me into letting him take me on a date.
•
u/Praise-Bingus 43m ago
Reality would be the main convo being what happened and the guy at the end would be what she wished would happen but it doesnt.
•
u/RainOnTheCoast 4m ago
Not even really a plot twist, what the second guy is doing isn't great behavior already. Picking up women who are crying (and, notably, literally voiceless) turns her emotions into a prop for his benefit.

u/LackingUtility 1h ago
She literally has no dialogue and yet she "seems like a nice girl"? That's a euphemism, right?
•
u/pnoodl3s 50m ago
We know she’s nice because she looks conventionally attractive, duh
•
u/complexiblebarracuda 45m ago
Uh no? She has chub and is therefore complete super ugly trash that is fat and ugly and not a real GAYMER GURL. Did you not read the comic?

Im not sure how good of a guy the second one is. He immediately asks a crying emotionally vulnerable girl on a date instead of making sure she was ok, and he says she's a nice girl despite knowing nothing about her and only based on her physicality.
65
u/Matraxia 1h ago
In a vacuum, yes, it’s kind of slimy, but in this case he knows the context (by eavesdropping) and can clearly see the outcome. Asking if she’s ok is sort of redundant at that point. She’s clearly not and clearly upset about being rejected for her looks. Guy starts by confirming to her that the entire ordeal was not her fault and it was the other guy being a jerk. (Validating her feelings) She was already prepared and expected a date, and he offered to make that happen with acceptance and compassion.

u/roguepawn 1h ago
Glad I am not the only one who had this reaction.
But it turned out all right in this fictional setting, so good for her <3
7
u/MeliodasTA 1h ago
Well he heard the first bit so didn't need to ask if she was ok because she clearly wasn't, and she could've said some things that didn't get shown to make him think she might be nice.
But fuck it, men are evil I guess so that guy was almost certainly just another brand of creep. Can't just have actually been nice, right?
9
u/Lumen25 1h ago
Whether you think the second guy is truly good or not is not really relevant.
The girl agrees to go on a date with him and has a good time despite the initial rejection by the first guy because of her physicality.
In my opinion the second guy already shows concern for the "emotionally vulnerable girl" by telling her he is sorry about what the first guy said. As if that wasn't enough, he even tries to cheer her up with a new date (one which she was already looking for).
•
u/freezing_pinguin 47m ago
It is the "cheering up by offering to go on a date" bit that irks me tbh. A pity date?
The whole situation is weird and fishy to me
•
u/Lumen25 32m ago edited 24m ago
Pity is not inherently a bad thing in my opinion, but we don't really know if the second guy meant it to come off that way
Frankly I think this was a sweet outcome despite the rejection and the insults from the first guy
Since you said it was a weird situation, what do you think would have been better after panel #4?
•
•
u/PalmtopPixie 56m ago
Yup. The way my “nice guy” detector went off. Way too many dudes jump the moment they know a girl is “free”
•
u/3lizab3th333 52m ago
Yeah, it’s definitely creepy and opportunistic. If anyone actually finds this romantic or sweet… I want them to stay 99km away from me at all times
•
u/PickledChubs 31m ago
Its called preference.
Fortunately, not everyone on this planet thinks like you so most people would find this endearing. Romantic? Ehhh.
You're probably just used to people walking past you when youre at your lowest so your view on this is probably obscured. To me this would be the sweetest thing a stranger has done for me. Not because they get to have a date but because they wanted to make me feel appreciated.
•
u/RainOnTheCoast 1m ago
This whole comic series is honestly a little toxic in a way I don't think the artist is aware of. She's routinely presented as basically a reward for the dude because he manages to clear an incredibly low bar. It reads like it's playing into self-insert fantasies for the men reading it; she is never really presented as an actual person, just as something attractive he gets to have.
•
u/LordOfTheNear 59m ago
"Hey girl who I just watched get shit on by some guy she was supposed to go out with, who is currently bawling her eyes out in public, are you okay?"
Lol is that how you really think people act?

u/jacques_rouland 1h ago
It's a totally normal comic about a man heroically going on a date with a big tit reddit dream girl who was bullied and rejected by an andrew tate manosphere nazi incel. A true and honest situation that happened in real life.

u/kaloschroma 1h ago
went on a date and near the end:
guy: "so want to go to my apartment"
me: "eh no but i can walk you home" (it was around the corner)
guy: "can we kiss?"
me: "NO."
guy: "can we have sex?"
me: "Ew no! That's the opposite direction."
guy was the grossest guy ever... He continued to complain that it was his Amazon vacation time and now it was wasted. Fucking gross.
•
u/TheDarkNerd 53m ago
Like, he had to use vacation days just to go on a date?
•
u/kaloschroma 51m ago
I guess so... the guy didn't seem all that put together. When he showed up for the date he had a large white stain on the front of his shirt... Not the worst date I have ever had but pretty close. : (

This seems baffling on every level:
•Elsa is literally conveniently attractive
•The guy she's dating seem like a outright psycho
•The second guy has legit serial killer vibes and is weirdly patronising
•Its a comic about the woes of dating gen z guys but there's no compulsively lying, predatory mysogynist with a weird entitlement to sex
•Also, why does the art feel like it's trying to be wholesome and objectifying at the same time?

Fucking insane that people don't like bellies. Bellies like that with a crop top are exact my type and it's completely foreign that people think that's unattractive.
Good on you for finding someone that actually appreciates ya!

Feel like the message is kind of lost when the woman is still a bombshell with the barest amount of belly fat. Like there's definitely people out there with ridiculously high standards but she's an extremely attractive woman already

u/nicbeans311 6m ago
as a side note be honest on your dating profile. post the full body shot, accurately list your height, take a picture of that thing you know has gotten comments in the past like your extra finger.

idk why people see "gamer girl" and think the UwU "gamer" girl... first thing that comes to me with gamer girl is this type of girl, and honestly she's still VERY much attractive! honestly? i'd love a woman like that.
