Self Mod change and state of the sub

Mod change:

As some may know long time mod u/Kyengen is stepping down on the 18th. I’ve been a mod here for a bit now and will be taking the reins.

I like to think Kyengen kept things pretty well regulated and fair, and in taking over I will try to run the sub just the same. So no worries, no major changes to be expected immediately.

State of the sub:

Now I know there are a few grievances concerning spam and “NSFW” material. As of now they are being reviewed as they’re reported and approved/removed on a case by case basis.

Other than that I don’t think there’s many disruptors in the sub. I’d like to hear some ideas on things the community would like to see changed, implemented, or removed.

In the meantime I will be looking for another person or two to help moderate. If you’re interested just message me directly.

I made two of them to be mounded to my dash belt of my costume.

The ball and wooden cork are both 3d printed and painted, the wick is just some macrame cord I had left over (I used it for the trim of my vest)

Help Armor transportation advice

Post image
32 Upvotes

I'm loading up from dragon con, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to transport this for a 10-ish mile drive plus getting it up into the room. If I use totes, the legs would have to stay out, and then it would take an additional 3 or 4 totes, and the one with the torso would have to be lid-less.

Has anyone transported armor wrapped onto an armor stand/mannequin? I'm thinking of just boxing the helmet and more fragile parts which I've already removed, and then moving it as is on a dolly, possibly secured with painters tape and or wrapped in a sheet or something. Thoughts? I feel like it's a good idea, but this is only my 2nd armor.

It's about a 50/50 split of printed parts and Eva foam.

This was a fun but tedious project. I learned how to wire LEDs while making this and hats off to the makers that make it look easy, because I was struggling going in blind.

Shout out to @neebick on YouTube for most of the files and such for this build. Can't wait to dirty it up at a con.

Hi, I'm making my first ever prop and I need help figuring out how to create the shapes that I need to cut into the foam. I'm currently waiting on a bevel, but until it arrives, I want to at least have everything ready to cut. I'm making Jack Knight's cosmic staff btw.

For Halloween this year we are doing D&D themed decorations and costumes. So I made a Mimic prop mainly out of cardboard and paper mache. The eyes are 3d printed half spheres and the tongue is craft foam covered in felt (thanks to my wife for sewing it!).

This Mimic is going to have candy in it for trick or treaters and has a tongue that moves when I pull a string. Let the generational trauma commence!

Help Finding material to make or someone who makes these Satyr/Faun legs+hooves

Someone on Etsy did sell the perfect version of satyr/faun legs like this, but now that I have enough to buy them, the maker has completely vanished off the site and I don’t know where to find someone who makes something like they did. Theirs were similar but different to these photos, what they made was more what I wanted specifically but I can’t even find old photos of their satyr legs/shoes.

If anyone knows someone who makes these or how to make these, I need some help!

Edit: this sub may not be the best place to ask but if anyone knows better subs for this, please link them! I’m newish to cosplay.

3d files by me

The stains were made by putting painted cotton ball tufts on top of LEDs. The electronics are housed under Esquie's face, along with a vape tank to generate the smoke.

Recently finished building the leviathan axe from God of War!

The axe is entirely 3D printed and was finished by me over the last 3 months. This was a massive step up for me compared to my previous work, so there were plenty of frustrations and valuable lessons learned along the way. Now I’m waiting on some snow to go take some cool photos…

Happy to discuss or share progress pictures!

Credit to Yosh Studios for the models. I ended up remaking the gems for resin printing though.

Help Dark souls Alva Cosplay questions

I’m making Alva cosplay for Halloween and I was wondering if anyone had any of the armour set files for a Pepakura build, I’ve seen some online but they’re all around £55-£65 which I find far too much for ripped game assets. Any tips or files would be great!

Help How can I attach the chest piece/shoulders/spike collar to the bodice?

I'm am working on a cosplay of the Riddle in Overblot form. I've made the bodice a side zip one (on the black side) I still need to make the chest pieces. I'm thinking the shoulder pieces ad magnets/clips to the bodice itself and the collar to that. Im just not sure on how to do the heart/filigree parts. I feel like they should be detachable but I'm not sure. This is just rough placement of the pieces. Still lots of work to be done. Tyvmia

WIP We turned an armor concept into a full-size piece of movie armor

My bro and I have been working on a full ceremonial armor set inspired by the Mycenaean world around the time of Odysseus.

This chest piece started as an image concept, then we turned the design into a printable 3D model. From there we scaled it to human size, printed it, coated it, finished it, and painted it until it looked more like something from a movie set than something that came out of a 3D printer.

One of the things I like most about this workflow is how quickly an idea can cross from an image on a screen into a real object you can actually pick up and wear. Throw in a green screen and some movie magic and it looks pretty cool.

The finished piece has a dark metallic body with gold lion details, and it is one component of a much larger armor set we are putting together.

We have already made the helmets, shield, armored belt and skirt, wrist guards, and greaves, so the full suit is getting pretty close.

Curious what you guys think of the translation from the digital model to the finished piece.

Find the highlight reel link post in my profile if you want to check it out

Help Inosuke cosplay help

Doing an Inosuke cosplay but would rather have the boar mask propped up on my head most of the time instead of how he normally wears it, does anyone know how I would go about situating it like that?

Either buying one specifically made to do that, making actual modifications to the mask, or just propping it up a certain way; any advice helps.
