Issue ⚠️ Uncomfortable seats

Post image
Upvotes

I’ve had my 2026 EX-L for about two weeks. I love everything about it except the HORRIBLY uncomfortable seats. I’ve spent so much money on cushions trying to get comfortable. I’m now considering having the seat redone. Has anyone had this issue and found a solution?

Spent the last year searching for a manual RD1 and FINALLY was able to find a clean, enthusiast owned example at a fair price. This is a 1999 LX AWD 5 spd. Such a great little car, cannot wait to make new memories with it. And yes… it still has the table. 👌

Question ❔ 2016 Honda CRV, safe to jack up the car in these spots?

I want to jack up the front of the car to easily get under and do an oil change. I’ve looked online but am not seeing a video or much info on 2016 Honda crv central jack point. The 2 pictured attached are where I would think would be safe as they’re the frame but would still like some confirmation.

Question ❔ 2017 CR-V LX - 136k KM

Hi everyone,

I am considering buying a 2017 CR-V LX - 136k KM for 16k CAD.

It is being sold by Honda dealership and they are going to do maintenance on the car (they will be paying 2k on it)

They have changed the transmission, they will change the breaks for all 4w + oil & filter change + a small issue with some part in the front left suspension. Engine from the inspection is good from the report.

Any recomm if I should go for it ?

Question ❔ RD1 Transmission parts?

Hi all,

I've been having issues with the automatic transmission on my first gen CRV and wanted to see if any of you have found a good source for new torque converters/rebuild kits etc. I normally use rockauto, but they only carry a few parts anymore and everything else I'm finding is discontinued.

Autozone and other auto parts stores don't have torque converters available, but the product listings say the same torque converter works on the 1996-2005 civic (even though the OEM part numbers differ between the crv and civic). Has anyone been able to find any good parts sources or tried to use a different torque converter? Am I better off just doing a manual swap?

For $240 I might be willing to take a gamble and see if I can get the civic torque converter to work on the CRV. It is a TC Remanufacturing HO16 on Rockauto and says it replaces an MDLA/MDMA converter.

Question ❔ CRV Program Key Fob

Hey everyone!

I have a 2012 Honda CRV, but I lost the remote unlock fob for it. I have the remote start fob, though. Does anyone know if there is a software or way to buy a generic unlock fob online and program it for the car? Does it get complicated if I have a model with the built in remote starter stuff? Thank you in advance for any advice!!

Question ❔ Rear support brace advice needed - first gen

I have a 1998 CRV that I bought recently that’s in good condition however I just discovered that the rear support braces are heavily rusted. One of them is fully coming apart. I’m willing to have them replaced however I’m just starting a new job and might have to wait until my first paycheck comes in before I can have repairs done

Opinions online are are really mixed about these parts. Some people say they’ve been driving without them for years. Should I suck it up and have them replace now and eat the cost or just wait a couple weeks? thanks. From what I see online this is a really common issue with this car.

Question ❔ Buy a new tire or all new tires?

I've got 3,000 miles on my 2026 CRV Sport Touring, purchased in May. I have a nail in the front driver side tire and the man at the tire shop says it is too close to the sidewall. He recommends getting a new tire for $250. These are the CrossContact LX Sport Tires. I don't think I have a warranty on the tires since they are OEM. Should I just replace the tire? I hope I don't have to do this too often. Honestly contemplating going to Costco and getting four new tires and a warranty. Thoughts?

Update: I ended up paying $335 at the dealership to replace one tire. I don't have a spare on the Sport Touring and I was not willing to take a risk driving on a tire with a plug. (They had to put in a plug when the nail fell out.) So I made the decision to get it done quickly and pay the money, even though I could have saved $50 if I waited till tomorrow afternoon and went somewhere else. I just wasn't willing to wake up with a flat, call triple A, or deal with whatever problems might arise, and driving on the freeway was out of the question. Sometime you gotta do, what you gotta do. Owning a car ain't cheap.

Question ❔ 2016 Passenger Side Mirror

Hi all, I've got a 2016 CRV EX and some putz sideswiped me this morning and took off the passenger side rearview mirror. I'd rather not go through insurance because in my state my rates will go up even though it was someone else who hit me. I've seen a couple videos, it looks like a repair I can handle relatively easily and I've got the tools. My question is about OEM online retailers. I've read a lot of forum posts about consistent parts screw ups due to the number of models and options for this part. I was wondering where you all went for OEM parts?

The few exploded diagrams I've found of this area and the mirror assembly don't list the garnish/mount as a part, but some imply the mount is included, and both are busted on mine. Can anyone point me to a reliable site for OEM parts with good diagrams so I can be confident I'm getting the right part? Also, in your opinions, is it worth just saying screw it and taking it to a shop/the dealer? How much of a headache will this be, do you think?

Issue ⚠️ Kids 2020 CRV Starting issue, battery/alt checked out..

Kids 2020 CRV randomly wouldn’t start this AM, turns over but wouldn’t kick on. Jumped it, drive it for 10-15 minutes. Battery/alternator checks out at AutoZone, drove some more. Sat for 30 minutes and wouldn’t start again. Bad starter? Or something with electrical system?

Issue ⚠️ battery died. now horn won’t stop going off.

battery died, and after jump starting horn won’t stop going off anytime the car door is opened or the car is started. key fob isn’t working to lock or unlock the car doors, but they can be manually locked/unlocked obviously (but not without the horn going off after using the key to open the door). power windows are working so it seems odd the door locks aren’t. what should i do here? help!! it’s so frustrating and the horn is driving me crazy.

Question ❔ serpentine belt

Issue ⚠️ Rev hunting rd1

I just got a 1997 crv for pretty cheap and did some bushings and boots that were shot
But now I’m having a problem where it’s rev hunting from 1000 rpm to 1500 rpm and so on.
Has anyone had a similar problem and what was the fix (the idle control valve or vacuum line?)

Question ❔ Has anyone have their theft prevention not work?

I just purchased a new 2026 CRV EX-L and while I was aware of engine/transmission issues I didn’t know the issues with theft.

I’m purchasing the advanced wheel locks, miller car shield, and OBD lock to try and protect myself.

Has anyone used these items and still had issues with theft?

I’m in NYC so I certainly may be at risk

Question ❔ Just bought a used 2020 CRV AWD Touring

Bought this beauty the other week! My first car purchase :). I used to drive my mom’s old Prius, while she was great (got to 250k mi) and I’m grateful I didn’t have a car payment, I’m so excited to have an adventure car! I’ve done extensive research on tips and care, but always looking for more if anyone has any!

Right now I’m looking for a trash bin that fits in this side pocket, has anyone found one?

Definitely going to take her skiing and camping if anyone has set up tips or suggestions! I’ve been looking at car camp builds but they’re pricey and idk if I want to build one myself. I have an old twin XL mattress pad that I’ll use for now but later on when I have the money I think I’d enjoy a build. I would need a way to maximize space to fit me plus my 6’3” man and his chunky pittie lol. Also wondering if I should just get a car tent instead. I have an rei half dome tent that we’ve been using but it’s tight with all of us so I’m looking forward to car camping!

I live in a pretty safe area of CA but wondering if I should still buy a cover for the radar sensor and a faraday box?

Question ❔ Run or consider (CR-V 2017)

Thumbnail

Looking to buy a reliable CRV as we're extending the family. Option to purchase a 2017 CR-V of which the (recall) issued were taken care of quickly looking at the service records. Thing that worries me is the floor/rust. Given we live in Eastern Ontario some rust is expected, but wonder if this is excessive or not. Service records look like it was routinely services at Honda garage, but only find one record (6 years in) of rust coat protection treatment. Should I run on this one, or is it worth considering?

Update: We ran. Thanks all!

Question ❔ Lease is ending in 6 weeks. How do I not get fleeced?

I currently have a 2024 EX AWD that I am leasing at $551 a month (southern California). I have one payment left. I really like this car, and would like to keep it if possible, but I cannot afford an outright full buyout. I was thinking to finance it, but not sure of how to start/what to do. I am not opposed to leasing a new car if the deal was unbelievable for something like a newer hybrid, but would honestly rather own. My credit score is currently fluctuating in the mid-high 700s if that has any bearing on this all.

My deal was for 12K miles per year, and I am currently only at 22K miles, so I understand I could use that to my benefit? The only real issuer the car has had has been that the rear camera appears in black and white 90% of the time, since the first week of my lease, and they have never been able to fix it. The car has no damage except a tiny scratch about the length of a dime on the passenger door. The tire/tread depth for all tires is at the middle/yellow level. I have had three yearly maintenances done at the local dealer, the most recent being earlier this summer. Currently the car needs new wiper blades, air/engine filter, and cabin filter. Will those replacements be used against me when ending the lease? I thought of paying the dealer to get them fixed now, but with such little time remaining on my lease, I didn't know if that was smart to do now. Also, if I finance, do I still have a warranty like my lease where I can get one free yearly service, or will I then have to cover all and any maintenance issues by myself?

I would like to obviously avoid as many fees as possible during this process, so am wondering what I should do. I have read that contacting Honda Financial Services phone number is my best bet, and to just deal with them and avoid the dealer, but wanted to make sure. Apologies for the drawn out post, but any advice/info would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time dealing with an end of lease situation, so not the most knowledgable, hence why coming here for advice. Thanks!
