So before I start ranting, long story short, I don't know if I have dry scalp or dandruff and it's genuinely driving me crazy.
Back when my scalp started getting itchy I, of course, assumed it was dandruff and started using head and shoulders. I also had fungal acne at the time so supported that fact. The thing is, I used it daily because if I even missed a day my scalp would get so frickin itchy it would drive me insane, but I also noticed that multiple hairs (at least 10-20) would fall off my head in the shower every time I used it, I got worried and I forced myself to only use it every other day. It was hell. Always woke up with an itchy scalp on the days I didn't use it.
(The fungal acne also won't go away even though I've used head and shoulders on it, too.)
That's when I found out about dry scalp and I was convinced it was that instead because my flakes were small, white, and powdery which is a symptom of dry scalp. I was so happy, I finally knew the real reason meaning I could finally solve it.
I excitedly bought jojoba oil because I researched that it helped with dry scalp. I also searched that you should only do it once or twice a week and to wash it off after 30 minutes to an hour to prevent build up so I did that. The first time I used it, it was fine, my scalp was still itchy the next day but I figured that was normal since it was just first use. But every time I did it after that it got so unbearably itchy, it was taking all of me not to rip my scalp off.
So now I don't know what to do. Treatment for dandruff doesn't work, treatment for dry scalp doesn't work, and I don't think I have both because again I don't have yellow, oily flakes. I don't want to go to a dermatologist or something because I'm a teenager who doesn't have my own money and I don't want my parents to spend on a dermatologist.
Please help me, I'm going insane.
