I just found an old HDD of mine that stopped working a few years ago when cleaning up my "electronic box", and I'd like to know if the data on it is recoverable (I don't care about the drive itself, I'd just like to get the data from it)

When plugged in, Windows sees it but can't open it or even tell me the occupied storage space.
It doesn't make any clicking sound.
I ran CrystalDiskInfo on it (see image n°2), and it managed to read the SMART data so I guess that's a good sign ?

Is the data on it recoverable ?

Had my galaxy s22 plugged into my computer to transfer all my photos and videos.

I had compressed the photos beforehand with google files to a zip, and after successfully transferring the zip file I decided to press delete on my "Camera" folder on my phone to completely remove all pictures.

Immediately realizing that's where all my videos were aswell I pressed cancel after maybe one second, but it was too late - everything is gone from my phone and computer and I can't find it anywhere.

I've tried stuff like Disk Drill on my computer but there doesn't seem to be the same tools for my android and Disk Drill can't find my phone on the computer, even though I have activated developer tools and USB-debugging.

Does anyone have any idea what to do?

Lenovo Yoga 9 laptop (14IRP8 (83B1) with the 1 TB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 - NVM Express (NVMe) hard drive

Laptop was giving me boot drive issue for a couple weeks but resolved itself after restarting laptop until eventually it wouldn't. Took it to two local data recovery places that determined 1) it was a firmware issue and 2) "their tools can't service that kind of drive."

The laptop has been turned on/off several times since the initial crash - is it completely hopeless or should I get a third opinion? Was thinking of sending to datarecovery .com , which said they could deal with firmware issues.

The laptop is under warranty with Lenovo, but they will only replace the hard drive and take the damaged drive with them (meaning if I replace it through Lenovo without data recovery first, I will lose all of the data).

i had 2 partitions on my 2 TB SSD, one partition for windows (500gb) and the other for backup (1300gb). when installing windows it wasnt recognizng the disk so i had to clean. i wanted to clean just the windows partition using CMD but ended up cleaning the entire ssd. ive tried several different softwares, all of which are asking for far too much money. testdisk is the only thing i can do but for some reason, it only progresses 1% every 10 minutes, why is it so slow? at this rate i have to wait over 14 hours just to see the results which may not be satisfying.

Hello, I'm trying to recover the childhood audios, videos and pictures that my sister recorded on this phone. I live in South America so getting a professional to look at this can be very hit or miss, that's why I'm trying to do it myself.

Anyway, the phone turns on, but as you can see, it needs a sim card to work, if i put in another old sim card or even my own working sim card in (with a size adapter) it still doesn't let me in saying "insert correct sim card".

I'm not sure how to proceed, the only cable I have for it only charges the phone and I don't think it can connect to a computer through a cable anyway.

I need help salvaging photos from an important shoot. My Sony a7 III suffered a simultaneous dual-card write crash, affecting the files on both memory cards at the exact same moment.
The Technical Facts:What I Have Tried:I contacted a local professional lab (Data Clinic). They reviewed the situation and confirmed the data is fully there, but stated I need a raw structural utility to "unlock" the files. Unfortunately, their free software is strictly built for Windows, and I am on a Mac.
The Ask:
Because consumer automated apps are failing to recognize the broken container logic, I need help from someone who understands raw file reconstruction or custom command-line carvers.

I just had a WD Red Pro drive die on me abruptly. It simply disconnected itself in Windows and when I tried powering it up again it wouldn't spin up at all (doesn't even try). It's completely motionless.

From my research, the PCB would be the likely problem. No idea what happened to it, but I did buy another of these drives at the same time that appears to be identical (manufactured only days apart). Could I directly swap the PCB just to get the data back, or is the rom still necessary?

I had a 64gb thumb drive which had some important pictures and videos on it. I put it in my drawer and did not use it for about 1.5 years.

Today when I attached it with my laptop, the videos were glitching. Some pictures were fine but most of them did not open or had grey portion on them. I think it happened due to not using it for 1.5 years.

Luckily I had pictures stored on my other laptop but not videos. Is there anyway I can recover those videos?

I am currently looking through all my different harddrives, etc and archiving all photos and important documents. The only thing I have left are 2 old phones were the displays are broken. The phones are a poco and a redmi from aroudn 2019 and 2022. The cloud backup was a bit weird and both displays are broken, but otherwise they should still function normally. They don't have otm features and I am not sure whether or not usb debugging is enabled. What would be the best way to recover data from them? I still know the passwords for logging in.

I was trying to recover some old photos and stuff. I used an adapter(power+data) to connect it to my pc. It spins when i turn on power and when i connect usb it starts making some periodic sounds.

Now after I plug in the usb, my file explorer starts doing werid stuff and it starts creating a bunching of new Local Disks(I saw up to K drive) in This PC. My Disk Management also stops working. When I unplugged the usb but kept power on, the periodic noises from before went away. I called it quits for then and unplugged everything after that.

When I connected power and data cable later in the evening it stopped spinning 5 sec after I turned on power. Now I could see In Disk Management it shows Not initialized. The properties tab shows "wdc rom model sabre". I googled this term and the results showed the disk might be done for.

Sometimes it keeps spinning and sometimes it stops when I give power. I dont know whats the reason. Now I stopped messing with it since its out of my area of expertise. Any possibility of recovering data if I go to a professional?

Hey, guys! I have this 2TB Western Digital (blue) [Model: WD20EZAZ - 00L9GB0] since mid 2022 iirc which I was using for personal data on my desktop. Last week I was transferring data from 2 different phones into this HDD and as data was being transferred from my phone, an error popped up stating it was not possible to move data into that particular directory and just then I realized a noise coming from somewhere inside the PC case. At the moment I couldn't comprehend what was happening so I just restarted the computer and realized after that the noise came from the disk itself. (OS: Windows 10 Pro)

Things I've tried:

• Checking Disk Management
• Trying different power cables
• Trying different SATA cables
• Using different SATA ports
• Connecting the disk on another desktop
• Updating drivers

For some odd reason, CrystalDiskInfo won't run if the HDD is connected but it will if it's not. It shows as "not initialized" & "unknown" on Disk Management. It doesn't show on BIOS. Noise sounds like it tries to start up but it doesn't, and it's a loopable noise every 3 seconds or so. Data is important, but I did a backup 4 years ago (in case it's all gone). I would prefer to recover data that's why I'm here, but I know if it's not handled by a pro it might be lost forever.

I know I must not connect it anymore, so I'm keeping it away for now. I believe from what I've read here that it's a head crash (platter scratch) most likely but I don't know if it's a good idea to open the whole thing up and check it by myself. I don't really want to send it to a lab, I'd rather keep it stored forever or give it myself a try.

Is it possible that some weird virus did this from these 2 Android phones? Disk should have less than 13.000 hours powered on, I've never used more than 500GB of its storage and I've never dropped it or something like that. Do you think data recovery is possible without a lab? Thank you!

I’m not the most computer-savvy and have been having issues connecting my WD external hard drive to my MacBook Air. I ended up formatting the drive to exFAT using the Partition option in Disk Utility. I thought I had successfully saved all of the files from the drive onto my laptop, but it turns out some files didn’t download correctly, and by the time I realized that, I had already reformatted the drive. I then copied all of the files that had successfully downloaded back onto the hard drive. It wasn’t until afterward, when I started reading Reddit threads, that I learned I shouldn’t have saved anything new onto the drive if I wanted the best chance of recovering the old files. This all happened within the past hour or so. Do you think there’s still a chance of recovering the files I lost, or has adding new files onto the drive reduced my chances of recovering the old files?

both of my Macbooks don't see WD MyPassport HDD 4TB, even though Windows Laptop sees it, so I assume the problem is about MacOS, the HDD is intact. It's unsolvable in Google.

I tried Disk Utility, nothing is seen.
Does it have anything to do with adapter? It worked before with no issues.

Does anyone know what I need to do to make it visible and so that I can interact with it on Mac?

My portable hard drive is all of sudden saying “The disk you attached was not readable by this computer.” I am using it on a Mac, it has only ever been used on a Mac, and only ever formatted for a Mac. It is a Crucial X10 Pro portable SSD. I have tried attaching it through a different cord, to a different port, and to a different Mac and it says the same thing regardless. I looked in Disk Utility, ran First Aid, and the smart status still says unsupported. Any help would be very much appreciated!

more details: the drive is not clicking, and I don’t think it is making any audible sound.

I used to use Truecrypt, and while I still have access to most my files, I made a new partition in 2020 and I can't remember that password at all.

I wouldn't have used any super complex passwords. Probably a few random words connected together with a few numbers of my choice. Is there some software I can use to break this, or am I SOL. I don't remember which crypto type I used at that time to put it all together.

I don't want to risk taking the cover from another tape without trying to get some advice first. The tape cover is snapped where the inner protective part connects to the outer. Missing the spring for the locking mechanism.

Would inserting the tape into the camera without a cover be too risky? It's unknown what's on the tape other than family Christmas/birthdays/get-togethers ect.

I have preserved and converted one tape already so I COULD use it if needed. Rather not though.

I accidentally deleted all my blender save files from my Desktop. Since they were very large files, they didn't make it to the recycle bin and were deleted directly. Those files contain 4-5 years of my hard work. My system is windows 11 and the files were saved on desktop in ssd with ntfs file system.

Please help me recover them. Any suggestions or help will be invaluable.

My wife was working on a 5 hour long video project over the weekend and I sat down today to compile everything. Well I made a mistake and while the files were copying decided to sign in to the Windows App and launch and RDP session. I didnt realize having a USB with the memory card reader while I had a CAC reader scanning for certs would corrupt the files but here we go. I tried a bunch of big box stuff today. STELLAR, EaseUS, Cleverbridge, to name a few. Tried a couple AI products and I got nothing. The files are kinda big like 3.61gb each. It still shows the file size and date but the data just isn't compiling. Any suggestions? I'm on short notice to get these recovered. I use a laptop, Win11Pro, 32gb RAM, 4060NIVIDA. Its on an SD card.

Not sure if this is a stupid question, but to preface, yesterday I got a new phone (galaxy s25 fe from galaxy a14 5g) and my stupid self decided to delete WhatsApp (along with a few other, trivial apps) because it said I needed to have more storage to transfer the data.

I thought that all my WhatsApp data was backed up to my google drive, but it wasn't. So now my entire WhatsApp history of over four years is completely wiped, and I was wondering if it was even possible for it to be recovered via local files ?

Would it be worth taking it to a professional to see if they could restore it ? Or is all of it permanently wiped ? Thanks in advance.

Im soo fed up rn my ohone storage got sooo filled and i was lazy to fix it and zuckslop app WhatsApp deleted the data on its own didnt even ask me and when i restored barely few data got restored...ik how database files are lost kinda ones overwritten but i remember copying the database file randomly jus a day BEFORE outside whatsapp media folder but then i deleted it after sometime

My questions are

1. How hard is it to recover data from database file

2. Since i made a copy of database file outside of the media and THEN deleted it... wouldn't i be able to recover that copy

   1. How to do all this...im soo not educated about recovering data.. therefore kindly help me with what software and techniques to use
