I’m beginning to think I have self destructive tendencies, because I’ve watched hours of Pisco debates in the last week. He is truly the most ridiculous person I’ve ever seen.

“Does a leader of the Democratic Party indicating your vote doesn’t matter depress voter turnout?” “No, I’m not convinced of that. Can you demonstrate that?”

“Why is it necessary to join the DSA when you can just advocate in the Democratic Party?”
“Do you mean strictly necessary? No one said you need to join the DSA to survive, stop strawmanning!”

I thought it was silly when Hasan coined the term “Debate Pervert” because he’s a dishonest hack and what the hell could that phrase possibly mean. But honestly, I think it perfectly applies to Pisco, whatever it means.

While listening to the panel I started noticing the pattern and it hit that Pisco constantly does this and it's a big part of why all his conversations become a meaningless mess.

He will constantly justify dumbfuck claims by saying (and he always does puts a lot of emphasis on the word) that something is his "intuition", to avoid having to justify it. After all, that's just a feeling and everyone is entitling to their own right?

But when someone make their own statement, he will interpret it as if they claim to possess divine knowledge and will relentlessly needle every aspect of the claim as if it's a court of law.

This is especially egregious for common knowledge things like here when it came to determining the value of endorsements. He Pisco will argue against it because it goes against his point and it's hard to justify such foundational things on the spot.

He's the equivalent of a sport coach arguing against throwing 3 pointers because "How do you know that the ball will fall back down, sure it's my intuition that gravity works that way, but neither of us know that much about it, so you can't be certain!"

He will do for every single thing he wants to fight against (note that this sort of minutia is absent for things he does agree with) and he will be extremely aggressive about it.

It's an effective way to weaponize his political ignorance, because everything is on the table now, it's impossible to make any progress, it's the conversational equivalent of burying someone in court filings to shut them down.

If he's wrong it doesn't matter because it was just an opinion anyway, if you claim something you better have a scientific study proving every single claim in each of your statement or the Piscourt will strike if from the record (conventional wisdom is not permitted). If you just have an "intuition" well those are all equal, who gets to say who's right?

These are two examples of interactions where he does, I thought the transcript made it especially obvious so here you go.

Pisco: "Soypill, can you answer the question? Do you have a burden to show?"

Soypill: "So, what what is your what does your intuition tell you?"

Pisco: "Yeah. My my intuition tells me that all else equal, having a media ecosystem that perpetuates like these kinds of narratives that Bernie Sanders literally had the election stolen from them is not positive for Democrats.

That's my intuition. Okay. But when you say that it's gonna have this destructive result and that it's causing massive harm, I think you need to show that."

Soypill: "Why? But why is it bad? Like if one person has one bad idea, it's not that bad. Why is it bad when someone says it on a big platform?"

Pisco: "All else equal. I'm going to take the view that if a big influencer gives a position, it's likely that his viewers might, share the view.

But hang on. That's crucially not what Hutch said. What Hutch said it's destructive to the Democratic party. Right. Wait, why? You said that right. Hutch."

Hutch: Makes face that communicates he wants to blow his brains out.

Soypill: "Can you demonstrate? Can you demonstrate that it would support us to do that though?"

Pisco: "No, that's my You asked me my vibe, right? You ask me my intuition."

Soypill: "Yeah, but can you demonstrate it? Is it really going to be that destructive? Can you demonstrate it?"

Pisco: "Wait, so like I can't prove it to you that an influencer saying a particular thing-"

Soypill: "Yeah, I don't think you should criticize. It's kind of crazy that you would prove it to me." (sarcastic)

And this interaction:

Hutch: "Are you denying that the number of democratic voters who sat it out because they thought it was rigged against Bernie didn't change the outcome of that election?"

Pisco: "I have NO idea if it changed the outcome of that election. Do you? Do you have that evidence Hutch, produce it!"

Hutch: "It was a race that was decided by forty thousand votes across three states my dude."

Pisco: "Wait, what's the evidence that it cost her the election? You don't have shit right now."

Soypill: "Yeah cause Hutch, do you know? Is there a number of people that said 'I sat out because I think it's rigged'? Cause I don't know about that." (sarcastic)

Pisco: "You have no idea. You're saying this without any evidence, you have nothing to point to."

Hutch: "Because it's obvious, it's fucking obvious man!"

Pisco: "Ya that's not convinced to me it has that effect. Does that convince you guys, 'It's obvious'?"

Hutch: "I just feel that if you had reasonable powers of deduction."

Pisco: "Wait, I can still disagree on the position, right, Soypill? Wait, wait, hang on. I'm not fucking with anything."

Hutch: "I think you're fucking with us."

I know the answer is that they have no shame or morals, but it still baffles me that people who have spent years harping on the fact that calling legitimate criticisms of Israel antisemitic can increase antisemitism turn around and "throw Muslims under the bus" by calling it Islamophobic to say praising 9/11, Houthis, Hamas, Hezbollah, etc., is bad.

Honestly, I don't know how we can go back from this.
